I believe most of the wildfires are man made. I have family living and Greece and they said the vast majority of them were arson. It is crazy that the people have zero respect for nature.
That is true, and unfortunately the reason behind it is usually political. Some fires were natural (accidents with litter left by the side of the road etc) but indeed the vast majority were from arson.
@@AriadnesVillageLife I kind of agree with Sotirios as my cousin explained to me that in Greece you as a property developer cannot build on protected areas/forests, but there is a loophole. And the loophole is that if that said area is burnt down by wildfires, than it is up for grabs. It happened in Athens as well. Modern governments are nothing more than just a mafia.

I have shown your beautiful videos to my parents and they were like ....... where is this? And with a lot of pausing and discussing they found that the village my dads family is from is very close to you. I was surprised they were able to figure that out. 😅 We love your videos!

Thank you for coming back and watching the new episode! I’m going to try and keep the time between each episode shorter, but I’m still trying to figure out how to balance life in Switzerland and UA-cam videos. Might start making a new series about wild camping in the Swiss Alps in between the village videos 😊
Great idea and brave at the same time. I keep my fingers crossed 👍 for the new idea, the climate of the mountains is wonderful and beautiful. Good luck
what a beautiful video. even though there was sad elements to it, its so important that you captured and shared the truth about the disasters happening in our beautiful country. my partner and i moved to rodos in may, and although i was away in italy the summer for work- he was there during the tragic fires that engulfed so much of the island. the sacred forest was destroyed, many animals lost their lives and people lost their homes. what's disappointing is that greece has an unbelievable high rate of arsonists that cause these fires around greece. it is not so much naturally caused anymore. rather, they take advantage of the extreme heat and windy days- they set it ablaze and stand in the distance with a smile on their faces. they are linked to government corruption as well to gain land. our beautiful country especially the wildlife, will not survive at the rate that these evil humans are running to destroy it. im going home back to rodos only in november, i know when i take my first drive back and see all the death of the forest that's left, i will stand and shed tears for our beautiful earth.. anyways thank you so much for your beautiful videos. i would love to meet you one day! also please could you share what camera equipment & audio you use to film your videos. xxx

I live part of the year in Greece, soon to be full time, and yes, the wildfires this summer were terrible. Our house is in a village in East Macedonia and Thrace region, and it was so scary to see the plumes of grey smoke on the horizon. One of our neighbouring villages got evacuated but luckily the fire was extinguished before it reached any houses. Sadly, a friend of ours saw empty petrol cans in by the roadside in the area and it was concluded that this particular fire had been started deliberately. I will never forget the apocalyptic sights and sounds of flames inthedistance and planes and helicopters buzzing back and forth overhead all day. My heart goes out to all those who .most lives and property in the fires and in Storm Daniel. Climate change is real and it is happening . Every year brings more extremes. Thank you for a lovely video, sad though it is. ❤🇬🇷 PS Im definitely going to try making pekmezi this year!
Yes, the weather has been acting quite crazily lately. Today it ended up hailing in the village, covered the whole place with a white layer. Never seen such weather before
So you have to slow cook the dolmas with a bit of water and oil. You need to place them on a layer of leaves at the bottom (to prevent them from burning) and then stack them tightly before adding some weight on top (here I added 3 plates) to keep them in place. Once you've secured that they are not moving, you add a bit of water proportionately to the amount of (rice you have in there) and let the softly simmer for 40 minutes until the water is entirely gone😊 Then let them rest to absorb any residual liquid, and voilà !
I believe most of the wildfires are man made. I have family living and Greece and they said the vast majority of them were arson. It is crazy that the people have zero respect for nature.

Very true. It seems to be a worldwide phenomenon (Maui island). Cheaper land to be bought by wealthy owners. The previous owners are left destitute
