Honestly, everytime I walk into or by a gamstop and the Sims are being advertise I bend over in laughter. The base game has 12 HUMAN skin tones; you cant do shit with babies; your game will glitch because some packs are fucked; learn about other sims? You mean spam "get to know" until the que is filled because that option never gives bad rep? I feel awful for console players, when i got the game i couldnt even get a dog. Fuck the sims

I really enjoy Snowy Escape so far, but it reminds me of my biggest pet peeve when it comes to this game, and i must admit: I feel like the sims team had NO PLAN when they released the sims 4. They knew what they wanted to do with Get To Work and Get Together but after that there was NO PLAN AT ALL. They didn’t know what expansion packs they wanted to release in the next 3-4 years, so they started releasing a bunch of game/stuff packs that had features that should be on future expansion packs. Why didn’t we get SPAs with snowy escape? Why are luxury party and vintage glamour separate from Get Famous? Why is spooky stuff separate from Seasons?????? Simple: they had no plan for the future. It’s not even a case of the system of stuff packs, game packs and expansion packs being disfuncional, honestly many small packs make sense (most of the game packs and some stuff packs like bowling and cool kitchen). They just didn’t have a plan and we got the absolute MESS that are many of the releases from the past year or so. It’s honestly so disappointing to watch.. specially after playing the sims 3, a game that had such well rounded expansions.

And for EA to not have added these features in as FREE PATCHES as they should have, smacks of EA piecemealing content so they can charge us double. I hate EA.

Theory!!! I think they intended to make snowy escape as a game pack.... But with the backlash of star wars, diverse skin tones, catching on to there laziness with sims 4... I think upper management used this as damage control. Adding in a personality system with this game pack to try and sell it and hype it up as an expansion pack.
My guess is that this was a counterpart to Island Living so not sure this was originally a game pack. They got away with putting little content in Island Living and call it an expansion pack so would have no qualms doing it again. However I completely agree with you on the personality system being an afterthought. A lot of the fanbase/gamechanger are giving a lot of backlash that the Sims have little personality and no amount of pretty packs will alter the lacking base game....

Windenburg was meant to be in the game prior to release. They wanted it to be similar to Veronaville from Sims 2 and it makes a lot of sense now. It never made it to release due to ya know, an unfinished game. Windenburg should've been the Newcrest update.

i love cc creaters! they are the only people who actually give me good hair. and i use a mixture of alpha and maxis match hair. they sims has ok clothes but only with my cc.
Typically hotsprings are found in Ryokans; Japanese inns so I kind of suspect they may be part of a Japanese resort. Not to mention the hotel category was spotted as a lot filter in the gallery a day or so ago. Just speculation though!

This pack seems like a “here is something that should’ve been in the base game plus recycled things from other packs.” The audacity of the sims team to charge us 40 dollars for functioning personalities. But the thing that disappoints me the most is the community’s reaction. Like I’m hearing people say “Yes! This is what we’ve been asking for.” Like I get it, the build and cas stuff seems nice. But I really don’t think people having been desperately asking for snowboarding the same way we are asking for hotels and updated babies. The only thing going for this pack is the Japanese build and buy stuff, which is kind of dumb because modders have done so, SO much better making Japanese themed iteams. To me, this is damage control, but it seems to be working so... ...ok after writing this entire thing I’m starting to realize how over obsessed I am with the sims 4 :/
My thoughts: Emotions, personalities, memories etc is base game stuff that needs to be a free update (no shit); Skiing and snowboarding could've been added in with the seasons or this could've been turned into a expansion pack heavily based on owning/running hotels with the bonus of seasonal hotel activities, which could be done within this Snowscape world thing. Like, give us spooky trails and hiking through the mountainsides for autumn, skiing and snowboarding for winter, flower picking/early spring festival thing (could be a love or life themed festival), and a lake/pond to go swimming in during summer (which could also be used for ice skating in winter), with like "A day at the beach" set of things to do. Base it on the business side of things, with perhaps an added bonus of being able to "Go to Work" with your sim for those with that pack, and slap on additional seasonal things for your sims to do whilst running/visiting a hotel. The seasons pack would be very useful for those who'd want more seasonal activities, but there'd still be enough base game friendly things to do, like running a hotel, going on vacation at a hotel etc. Without the seasons pack installed, there could've been things like: hiking, picking flowers, swimming at the lake, "A day at the beach" to do list etc.
I will be getting sims 4 once sims 4 is done releasing packs.... even then I’m satisfied just playing sims 3 and 2... your videos about it make me soooooo happy tho
I wish my laptop could run the Sims 3 :'( I miss it so much. Like I actually feel pain thinking about how special that game was, and how I could literally play for 10 hours in a day and be completely absorbed and transported. I get bored after a few hours in the Sims 4, even with most of the packs and tons of mods. Create a Sim, building tools, multi-tasking and graphics are the ONLY upgrades from Sims 3 - 4. Everything else feels soul-less, cartoony, juvenile and empty.
They could’ve made a Resorts Life EP, done this exact Japanese inspired world, THEN made another World that has beaches/vineyards and just made two worlds that have two completely different styles of land/weather. But nah

after they announced the star wars pack I redownloaded the sims 2. i’ve been playing it for hours on end everyday. the way that the older games keep you hooked and interested is unmatched to the sims 4. in the sims 2 your sims personalities are so unique and complex and they affect every part of your gameplay.
im a little worried about the design choices on some items. the sims team doesn't do enough research and they are using the rising sun on a few cas/build buy items, which for people who don't realize is essentially the swatchica for south korean people
I feel like if we’re going to say it should’ve been included in Seasons, we have to also say Island Living should’ve been, too. They’re both extreme weather climates, they’re just on the opposite ends of the spectrum.
I think the pack might be worth it because of the lifestyle and sentiments they’re adding. Also, I’m glad that there is more Asian representation in the game.
It’s definitely giving me game pack vibes, they really could’ve just added some of the features to seasons or made the outdoor retreat an expansion and made it an expansion rather than a game pack. Honestly they could’ve even added spa day to outdoor retreat as well but of course EA wouldn’t do that as it’s clear they’re just trying to do the least amount of work and milk us of every dime we have.
I feel like this will be one of those packs that you use once and never use again. I don’t like snow so I didn’t want a snow theme pack. I want something African inspired next.
They should have done a resorts pack with this and island living in it. Then they should have done a cultural pack with like three or four cultures represented in it. So many people would have been happier.

Your thoughts on lifestyles and sentiments is pretty much where I'm at, and I feel like people aren't really talking about it enough yet because we're too busy being happy that the team listened for once. I'm hoping we get SOMETHING relating to personalities or relationships in base game, but I feel like we won't and people will be more vocal about it once the gameplay trailer or the stream drops. Like, why do we have to pay for better personalities and relationships? Especially when there are mods that do the same thing from the sounds of it. I'm excited about Snowy Escape, but it just sounds like a GP with what should've been a base game feature. That makes me nervous.
I really have to agree with you on the point that it sounds like a gamepack! *BUT* like you said, there are sooo many unanswered questions and I am really intrigued about the personality and lifestyle thing, I think that’s why it might be an expansion. The pack may be named winter themed( maybe because of the release in winter season and Business and stuff) but I think the actually main focus of this pack is about lifestyle and the experience in the new world, not actually the winter vacation

Like it's awesome that they hired Game Changers to build, but it's a little tone deaf to not hire any asian simmers, especially Japanese simmers, to build. Definitely get Jungle Adventure on sale if you can! It's not just about cabinets.. all the build/buy in that game is amazing!! The wallpapers and bathroom set is by far the prettiest in the whole game, and amazing windows... Plus it comes with a lot of cute clutter items in debug as well and the archaeology skill is a money making goldmine. I only went on the actual "jungle adventure" in my game once but everything else makes the $10 sale price totally worth it

I discovered your channel because of the Sims, and stuck around for your other content. When I heard that this was going to be Snowy Escape all I could think of was ,"Amanda is going to LOSE IT if there are hotels in this pack." I think they will release those with a game pack a la Dine Out. The pack looks beautiful, as all Sims 4 packs do, but I am also more excited about the personality system than skiing, sledding etc. Love your channel, and hope you are doing well. Oh, and I really want to see some gameplay too! Maybe we could see YOU doing some gameplay like you did with University. That was really fun. :)

I think upper management used this as damage control. Adding in a personality system with this game pack to try and sell it and hype it up as an expansion pack.
And that would explain why it wasn't touched on in the trailer, because when they made the trailer they weren't going to add the personality stuff.
But they game a year long map out and it said to expect 2 eps so I'm pretty sure it's was long ago planned to be an ep they just always rip us off
My guess is that this was a counterpart to Island Living so not sure this was originally a game pack. They got away with putting little content in Island Living and call it an expansion pack so would have no qualms doing it again.
However I completely agree with you on the personality system being an afterthought. A lot of the fanbase/gamechanger are giving a lot of backlash that the Sims have little personality and no amount of pretty packs will alter the lacking base game....

Windenburg was meant to be in the game prior to release. They wanted it to be similar to Veronaville from Sims 2 and it makes a lot of sense now. It never made it to release due to ya know, an unfinished game. Windenburg should've been the Newcrest update.

This pack seems like a “here is something that should’ve been in the base game plus recycled things from other packs.” The audacity of the sims team to charge us 40 dollars for functioning personalities.
But the thing that disappoints me the most is the community’s reaction. Like I’m hearing people say “Yes! This is what we’ve been asking for.” Like I get it, the build and cas stuff seems nice. But I really don’t think people having been desperately asking for snowboarding the same way we are asking for hotels and updated babies. The only thing going for this pack is the Japanese build and buy stuff, which is kind of dumb because modders have done so, SO much better making Japanese themed iteams. To me, this is damage control, but it seems to be working so...
...ok after writing this entire thing I’m starting to realize how over obsessed I am with the sims 4 :/
My thoughts: Emotions, personalities, memories etc is base game stuff that needs to be a free update (no shit); Skiing and snowboarding could've been added in with the seasons or this could've been turned into a expansion pack heavily based on owning/running hotels with the bonus of seasonal hotel activities, which could be done within this Snowscape world thing. Like, give us spooky trails and hiking through the mountainsides for autumn, skiing and snowboarding for winter, flower picking/early spring festival thing (could be a love or life themed festival), and a lake/pond to go swimming in during summer (which could also be used for ice skating in winter), with like "A day at the beach" set of things to do. Base it on the business side of things, with perhaps an added bonus of being able to "Go to Work" with your sim for those with that pack, and slap on additional seasonal things for your sims to do whilst running/visiting a hotel. The seasons pack would be very useful for those who'd want more seasonal activities, but there'd still be enough base game friendly things to do, like running a hotel, going on vacation at a hotel etc. Without the seasons pack installed, there could've been things like: hiking, picking flowers, swimming at the lake, "A day at the beach" to do list etc.
I can almost bet that personality/lifestyles will be a copy paste of Turbodriver’s Personalities from WonderfulWhims (WickedWhims SFW)

Like I actually feel pain thinking about how special that game was, and how I could literally play for 10 hours in a day and be completely absorbed and transported. I get bored after a few hours in the Sims 4, even with most of the packs and tons of mods. Create a Sim, building tools, multi-tasking and graphics are the ONLY upgrades from Sims 3 - 4. Everything else feels soul-less, cartoony, juvenile and empty.

after they announced the star wars pack I redownloaded the sims 2. i’ve been playing it for hours on end everyday. the way that the older games keep you hooked and interested is unmatched to the sims 4. in the sims 2 your sims personalities are so unique and complex and they affect every part of your gameplay.

Your thoughts on lifestyles and sentiments is pretty much where I'm at, and I feel like people aren't really talking about it enough yet because we're too busy being happy that the team listened for once. I'm hoping we get SOMETHING relating to personalities or relationships in base game, but I feel like we won't and people will be more vocal about it once the gameplay trailer or the stream drops. Like, why do we have to pay for better personalities and relationships? Especially when there are mods that do the same thing from the sounds of it. I'm excited about Snowy Escape, but it just sounds like a GP with what should've been a base game feature. That makes me nervous.

Definitely get Jungle Adventure on sale if you can! It's not just about cabinets.. all the build/buy in that game is amazing!! The wallpapers and bathroom set is by far the prettiest in the whole game, and amazing windows... Plus it comes with a lot of cute clutter items in debug as well and the archaeology skill is a money making goldmine. I only went on the actual "jungle adventure" in my game once but everything else makes the $10 sale price totally worth it

When I heard that this was going to be Snowy Escape all I could think of was ,"Amanda is going to LOSE IT if there are hotels in this pack." I think they will release those with a game pack a la Dine Out. The pack looks beautiful, as all Sims 4 packs do, but I am also more excited about the personality system than skiing, sledding etc. Love your channel, and hope you are doing well.
