saw him and his band about 10 years ago. All the band members switched instruments and were quite simply amazing.

This is not a Rolling Stones cover- it is Slim Harpo and he was using that rhythm before ZZ top (1965). and John lee Hooker was the one who invented that rhythm that is in many old blues songs.
This rhythm is tied to John Lee hooker just like the "not fade away" rhythm is tied to Bo Diddly. La Grange was basically a JLH theft/tribute.
