For qotw: Do rice cooker one-pot meals. Dump your rice, meat, some veg, eggs all inside the rice cooker, season with some oyster sauce and soy sauce and cook it all together in the rice cooker. Tastes great, healthy, less clean up too.
QOTW: Baked potatoes! You can easily cook them in the microwave for 15 mins by stabbing a few holes in them and putting them on a plastic bag. Baked potatoes are very versatile. You can dress them as simple or complex as you'd like: add some butter, maybe some canned chili. Or top them with a fried egg. Your options are limited only by your imagination.
Scoop out the insides, mix with cream cheese, refill skins, sprinkle bacon bits and shredded cheddar. Pop under broiler until a nice bubbly cheese surface forms.
QOTW: Frittatas are a lifesaver. You can use up a lot of leftover veggies, meats, and cheese scraps, and it reheats really nicely too. It does mean you need a cast iron skillet, but let's get real. If you don't have a cast iron, you aren't cooking right. Fix that. Anyways, they're so great because of how versatile they are. Turn the oven to 350 F, dice your add-ins, sauté your veggies and any meat until it's browned, beat together 6 eggs with a bit of milk (nonsweetened soy milk works great here if you're avoiding dairy) and some salt + pepper and pour the eggs over the contents of the pan. Add cheese if you'd like, and cook over medium-low until the edges set a bit. Then pop it into the preheated oven, I let it go for 10, and then check every 5 min until the center doesn't jiggle when you wiggle the pan. If you trust your oven, let it go for 15 and it should be ready. Still do the wiggle test though. Serve with buttered toast, and you just cleaned out the fridge, made a protein rich, healthy meal, and made leftovers for tomorrow. It's the perfect lazy dinner, and I made one last night with leftover ham, tomatoes that were about to spoil, the last of my shredded cheese, half an onion, and some garlic. It was delicious.
@@yutub561 Idk, are you asking what you can do instead of a frittata in a cast iron skillet, or are you asking how to make a frittata enjoyable to a person who doesn't enjoy thick eggs? Because honestly with that last one, I don't think there's a solution. My alternative would have been "make an omelet to lessen the thickness of the egg".
Two 5/5s in one episode? We have been blessed by the FFT gods. QOTW: My favorite go-to meal is instant ramen, but I toss the flavor packet and use chicken stock and my favorite toppings to spice things up.
This time of year, squash is in season. Pick out a variety or two you haven't tried, cut in half, scoop seeds, brush with oil, and roast on a cookie sheet. Easy way. Once you know what flavours you're cooking with, then see about trying other flavours with it, different ways to cook, etc. Save the seeds, and guerilla plant them around the city parks and in the middle of roundabouts in the spring.
Thank you so much for rating our tank. 4.55/5 for our first try. Lifelong dream achieved. He is 10 and is asleep now. Should I wake him up to show him or wait until the morning?
Shakshuka is a big quick and easy favorite in our household. We also LOVE carnitas, which is easy but takes a little longer (with little active work though).
Glass tubes like that are often sold as vases can probably find one somewhere... or just call your local glassblower they can probably do it for like $30
QOTW: One pan creamy pasta. Butter and chopped garlic in the pan, simmer on medium for 2 mins (stir occasionally till brown), add any kind of cream you want with 1/2 cup water, throw in pasta of choice, add salt and pepper, add mixed italian herbs, stir everything together, increase the heat and cover the pan. Gradually add more water if necessary (depending on how much sauce you want). Check every minute or so to make sure it doesn't burn. Add cheese of choice. Should be done in 15-20 mins max, and you only need to clean the pan + cutlery. If you want to add bacon: butter and bacon in pan at the beginning, remove bacon when done, then throw in garlic and follow the rest. Would also recommend having a salad before the pasta. Nutrition wise: carbs, protein, fat, calcium, veggies which have fibre and micronutrients. Pretty healthy overall
QOTW : i do soups, can use frozen vegies, leftovers whatever you have it always comes out good and easy, just throw somethings in the water with spices and it can be done as fast as 20min :)
Graduated high school, now I can stay up late to watch FFT as soon as the video drops! 🎉🎉🇦🇺🇨🇦 Re-scaped my 20 gallon, got rid of the fake plants and planted a ton of bacopa in the inert substrate, (they grow like crazy without fertilisation in my expirience). And my planted shrimp breeding tank is doing grreeaatt (even though it's overrun with thousands of tiny pond snals and the only thriving plants are the vallisnerias XD) I'm planning on scaping one or two heavily planted nano tanks, for Chili rasboras and endler breeding. Those red and blue endlers are so beatiful.
I have a 20 gallon fish bowl at my dad’s-been out of service since my goldfish died and I started college. I ran some tubes to an external filter and hung a pendant lamp over the top with a 120 watt grow light.
13:15 Immediately take them all to your local fish store. Then, contact who you ordered them from. That's someone else's order, and hopefully it'll get straightened out, eventually. But priority one is the lives of the fish.
1) Thank you for talking about how dangerous floodwater is. It’s very hazardous. 2) Update on my mom’s ecosphere: one of my mom’s shrimp died (rip). But one of the snails has been… Feasting. And the other shrimp is doing well! QOTW: Angel hair pasta (takes max 4 minutes) with a few cans of veggies with onions (frozen or fresh) sautéed in a pan for a few minutes. Seasoned however you prefer. I like cooking with butter but it’s up to you. You can add meat if you like, something like kielbasa cooks up quick and adds a bunch of good flavor, just cook it in with the veggies. Add it in with the pasta. Delicious.
Quick noms - chip butty (chips as in your French frys but thicker cut ) spread butter on white bread slice (has to be white) put on chips squirt of tomato sauce and the other buttered bread slice on top and eat , simple but filling ( not for every day) 😁
Pasta salad is excellent and easy to make. Dice up fresh broccoli, quarter a container of cherry tomatoes, 2 cans of sliced black olives(drained) diced summer sausage (1/4 in pieces), cheddar cheese (1/4 in pieces), 1 package spiral pasta boiled to desired softness, cooled. Mix it all up with some bottled italian dressing (just enough to cover it all without puddling in the bowl). Leave in the fridge at least 1 hour. Even better the next day, and makes a ton! I hope your home is fixed quickly, and thank you for the content!
QOTW: Chicken and wild rice with broccoli. Salt chicken and quick sear in Olive Oil. Throw on baking sheet, sprinkle on some Italian seasoning, or whatever you prefer. Throw broccoli on same pan, drizzle in olive oil, salt and pepper to taste. Cook wild rice, can also do a 25/75 wild to white rice mix to stretch the wild rice. Also buy par cooked wild rice to save time.
Ramon Chicken Broth with Miso, 5 Slices of Pork, Green Onions, Bamboo Shoots, Narutomaki, Nori Seaweed and a Seasoned Egg, and noodles. Of course you can adjust for what you like. Sometimes I add kimchi.
QOTW: Arroz con tocino!!! Rice with bacon :)) it’s very simple, this is how I make it! you’ll need Rice, bacon, 1 yellow onion, soy sauce, crushed chili pepper and lemon. If you want to add mushrooms you can for that added goodness! Make your rice and while that’s cooking Just cut your bacon into bits and cook that ishhh, after that you’re going to dice the onion and mushrooms and sauté it with the bacon and once that’s all done and the rice is done… you’re gonna mix em together into one. Add soy sauce lemon juice and chili pepper (however much it don’t matter) and enjoy!! I hope this helps :)))
I was bemoaning my massive bacterial bloom (our tap water😢) after a water change, losing a betta and a guppy, and seeing your perseverance after such a terrible experience made me stop feeling sorry and get back to doing what I can to get back on track
QoTW: #1 is pasta, it's quick, if you want extra protein and fiber without bothering to make meat use lentil pasta and if you don't like jarred sauce most can be made in about 10 min (I was very surprised when I first learned Alfredo is like 4 ingredients and takes 10 min lol) #2 anything you can put in a crock pot. Throw in meat, beans, corn, peppers, tomato, broth and a chili seasoning packet and let it be until you are ready to eat. Bonus, lots of leftovers
QOTW: My go-to meal is pan seared cubed spam, dressed in a sweet soy sauce and eat it over a bed of left over white rice. Super delicious, easy and fast to make, and packed with protein. I like to dice some carrots with the spam too. Really feeling for you during these hard times. Just survived hurricane Helene in florida and thankfully my 5 tanks made it through. One of my kuhlis got spooked and is now not swimming well, but we look up! Hang in there my guy, better times ahead!
Been watching since 2019 when I started college, I just finished this past may. I've been watching ftr every morning for years, but now I work and I'm watching at 10pm in the shower... Life changes man 😂
THIS WEEK'S QOTW WAS MADE FOR ME 😤 DISABLED POWERS! ACTIVATE! Okay so I'm actually always tired and deal with chronic pain so I have a few recommendations that I use regularly. They shouldn't take you too long to make but I don't have a ballpark since I cook in little stages with rest on between so I don't give up and decide not to eat lmao Meal 1: Spring rolls. I will put literally anything I have on hand in them. It helps me keep up my nutrition and not cave to getting delivery. I tend to have a lot of veggies and chicken or fish and I make sure to have some rice noodles in case I overestimate my energy for the day. Meal 2: Rice and pickled veggies. I like to pickle my own veggies but stuff from the grocery store is pretty good too! I think adding an egg and pork floss is really nice. Meal 3: Beans and rice. Okay so I clearly choose rice as my carb pretty often. I like to use pinto beans and Cajun seasoning with some salt pork into the slow cooker. Rice in the rice cooker. Boom. It's not exactly exciting but it's the least effort while still giving you enough energy to get through the day. It's probably a good idea to have a salad with it because it's kind of a heavy meal all things considered. Meal 4: Everything Soup. This is a roux based soup that is basically just like... leftovers from food prep where I only used half a portion or something. It's like a seasonal stew situation that you can base the seasoning around what you have. I like to put potatoes and onions in it and it can also be cooked in the crock pot. Meal 5: Chicken and rice soup. This one is super easy because I just get a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store and break it down. Then soft sauteed onions, garlic, carrots and celery with salt and pepper to taste. (I might add collards, mustards or kale if I'm feeling extra healthy.) I usually have my own chicken stock that I add with the chicken and veggies as well as a cup of rice and a bit of cream - if you like a creamy soup. This is probably my favorite go to because it means I only have to cook once that week. I hope at least one of these sounds yummy!
I am also disabled and end up getting fatigued quite easily. Multiple sclerosis paired with stage 5 renal failure and a spinal cord injury simply do that. I think I will try some of your recipes so that I can add a little variety to my own. Pintos are awesome. I usually toss a ham hoc into mine. I also add a bit too much water to the soaked beans, then when they're done, I save the water (either freeze it or use it right away) as the base for an easy stew. There are so many ways to be creative and turn that little extra into something special without breaking the bank, or wearing yourself completely ragged. That way you can wear yourself completely ragged on something else! Probably on something you'd rather not do. Of course there's always procrastination for situations like that. I procrastinate way too much.
@@Chompchompyerded For me I'm still trying to chase down what genetic condition I have. So far all I've gotten is that it's likely a connective tissue disorder and there are apparently a ton of things that could be and literally no one is invested in figuring it out 😃 So I just get by with my wobbly joints and try to figure out how my body works all over again. I'm definitely borrowing your bean water idea because I have never thought about that but it would totally make a good savory base. I can't stand for very long without pain or getting dizzy so I tend to try to sit while I chop veggies and stuff but any tips to help with the day to day are so welcome. I've been figuring things out all on my lonesome and just skipping meals altogether when I don't have the energy. The lowered mobility and energy is pretty new for me and I am struggling to say the least. 😭 This is basically what I eat when I don't just blow my grocery money on delivery to have a good meal and that's always a bad idea.
That corner cut out isn't for fish tanks.... but for fish tank.... ohhh the dreams i could make come true with that corner.... a Mbu Puffer fish tank would fill that hole so perfectly
Thanks for making our Mondays just a little bit better! I'm so glad you mentioned insurance in this episode - I've been wondering if you had been rocking no renters/condo insurance but I should have known better - Hope for the best, prepare for the worst! I hope your agent is taking good care of you. Favorite easy high-protein meal is taco salad night! You only have to cook the meat and shred the lettuce, then everyone can build exactly what they want with salsa, beans, guac, sour cream, cheese, chips... now I'm hungry... ALSO discovered you can sub ground turkey for ground beef, add some worchestersterchestershire sauce to the taco powder, and NOBODY WILL EVER KNOW!
QOTW: my favorite wick meal is stir fry (cabbage, carrots, onions, peppers and any meat sliced thin fried with garlic and white pepper and a little olive oil with sweet n sour sauce) on some white rice. Can prep the mat and veggies ahead of time and use minute rice.
They are Newts!!! I had some of them in my aquarium as a kid. I floated a piece of styrofoam for them to get on when they wanted out of the water. But a paladarium would probably be the best set up for Newts. So exciting to see them!
QOTW Sliced precooked sausage like bratwurst or kielbasa pan fried instead of using beef for HamburgerHelper. Saves about 5 minutes but adds buckets of flavor. Enjoy, and have a blessed week 🙏
Grilled vegetables and potato slices from the oven. Super easy and fast an less work. Just cut everything, olive oil and salt on everything, into the oven, wait (200°C for 30min) and then eat :) put the garlic with the skin in the oven, so it doesn't burn. Bon appetite 😊
Take some seasoned chicken to a med-high heat to give it nice crust on both sides. Add some sliced mushrooms and/or cherry tomato halves. let them cook. Add red wine to de glaze pan, makes cleaning easier. Or some vinegar works. Add heavy cream and butter to thicken over medium heat and finish the chicken cooking off in sauce moving constantly to emulsify butter cream with wine. Can eat alone over rice or pasta.
One pot pasta is my go to just because it uses less dishes and it's easy to change up depending on your mood the point of it is the the boiled down water has starches so you can make a thick sauce without adding any flour. Personally I like added riced veggies and all the herbs and spices at the start so the veggies soak up all the flavor.
QOTW A very easy meal is a baked chicken in the crock pot. Wash whole bird and add half onion to the cavity with a little butter. Sprinkle salt, pepper and a little sage (to taste) and put on high. At dinner time you will have the most tender, juicy bird you ever tasted. Warm up some veggies and you are good to go.
Goto quick easy food: hummus and tortilla chips or rice crackers. Pot of lentils cooked up with whatever spices you enjoy, throw in some grilled onions and bell peppers. Put that on rice, and yer set. Cook a large batch and refrigerate or freeze leftovers. There has to be more than 8 hundred different ways to flavour dhal. Easy nutritious variety.
I love airfrying a ham steak that I cut into 1/4 inch pieces, I then use my electric tea kettle to boil water for Idahoan instant mashed potatos while the ham cooks, I then mix a can of corn in with the ham chunks. Super tasty and quick.
I have a “three-ish” gallon planted bowl. It’s a 12” diameter x 10” tall. I got it on amazon for about $40 and then went to Michael’s Craft store after I had it established. … they had a bunch of them for $27.
QOTW: Okay, as a PhD student who teaches and directs, I have zero time to meal prep. What you want is protein, carbs, some healthy fats, and throw some vitamins in if you can. So my go to is this: Toast a whole wheat english muffin. In a bowl melt some butter and carmelized onion jam (tastes awesome). 30 sec, melted. Throw in an egg, salt, pepper. Whisk, back in the microwave, another 30 sec. Take it out, mash it up to make scrambled eggs, add in some goat cheese (hell ya healthy fats). By this time the english muffins are done. Slap you oniony, cheesy, scrambled eggs on that, making a muffin egg sandwich. Wrap in baking paper or tin foil. For bonus points, add an orange. They last for flipping ever, and oranges smell so good, uplifts the spirit. Throw it all in a lunch box, plus a bottle of water, run out the door. Takes like 3 min to complete, less if you say f*** it and don't clean up as you go. You can also prep it the night prior, you'll just have to re-toast your muffin the next day. Hope you try it and like it!
"Dood" lol, my mystery snails go walkabout like that too. I'll find eggs laid under my pothos leaves above the tank, or find a snail that found it's way down to the floor (tank is on a Husky workbench), and nearly to my cat's water fountain. All closed up. I give a little sniff, and if it's not stinky, back in the tank with em. Sometimes they hide and dry out before I find them, sadly.
Meal idea for such times: I choose convenience meals where I can use the leftovers to make an omelette/scramble. Like I order a bowl from chipotle, and know I’m going to fill up on chips. Try and eat up most of the lettuce, and then the leftovers just heat up in a skillet and add a couple whisked eggs.
QOTW: My favourite quick meal to make? KD with ground beef. There are 2 ways to make it. I completely prepare the KD and add cooked ground beef after it is completely prepared. My friend cooks the pasta, then adds the cooked beef. Then she adds the butter and stirs it. Then she puts it all in the pan the beef was cooked in and puts it on medium heat while she adds the cheese sauce mix and extra milk and stirs until everything is coated. A variation on this is to add canned tomatoes or cooked broccoli at the same time you add the beef
My favorite easy meal is box mac and cheese. Sometimes roast or steam brocolli to add it in. You can aslo get "healthy" box mac where the noodles are made with high fiber high protein. i liek the brand goodles. Also leave out the butter if you want healthy or put it in for the yum.
Campbell's creamy tomato sip'n'soup. For a real meal with cooking, but minimal effort, it's called lemonade chicken: 6 chicken breasts in a 9×13 baking pan. In a bowl: half a 12oz can (6oz) of frozen lemonade from concentrate, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder. Stir the bowl contents. Pour half over your chicken in a baking pan. Oven it for 25ish minutes, covered with foil, at 425°F. Cover off, flip chicken, pour other half of bowl mixture over chicken. Leave uncovered, oven it for another 10-15 minutes (always check chicken temperature to be sure it's fully cooked. Cook times vary with thickness of meat.) while it's ovening, mix the other half of the lemonade concentrate to make lemonade. Use leftovers for sandwiches. I've also made it with canned shredded chicken breast just kind of sauteed on the stove.
QOTW: 1) Chop and drop all your veggies and meat in a wok & stir fry. 2) Chop and drop everything in your rice cooker - one pot meal. 3) Use a microwave to steam some fish fillet & vegetables. 4) If all heat sources fail, then toss a quick salad with cheese & nuts.
as someone who works with fish vendors who reuse boxes it’s super common to see labels like that on the outside of a box with a totally different order in them. i have had saltwater fish boxes come in saying there’s 50 wrasses with an Indonesian shipping label.
AOTW: A barbarian burger: A hamburger where the outside is singed but the rest of the burger is still raw, with ketchup on top. Another one which is super inexpensive and leaves only one dish to clean is a package of ramen noodles crushed up a bit with a little shredded cabbage and a little mirin plus a dash of rice vinegar. Alternatively, don't put in the cabbage and save some time. Works with either nappa cabbage or head cabbage. Really crunchy, really tasty, and doesn't cost much money. Is also quite filling. If I'm totally desperate and have literally zero time, I do have fish food around. Just toss some back and pretend you don't taste it. Fluval Bug Bites turtle pellets might be good to put in your pocket and eat eat on the go. It's expensive, but it will take care of your protein needs. Just make sure not to think too hard about the fact that it's made with soldier fly maggots. Count yourself lucky that you don't have to eat live squirming buts. That's what my mother would have said. Sometimes that seemed like good advice, sometimes not so much.
Fav easy go to meals that are pretty affordable where i live are, Pork with rice, kimchi and any other greens you want to get in bulk. then just use different sauces and flavorings. keeps the dish unique without having to buy a bunch of different ingredients and saves space x'D then also changing up the protein here and there helps.
QOTW- my two favorite simple comfort foods: -grilled cheese sandwich- (sourdoughbread, American cheese, a dab of Grey Poupon) -blanch rapini and sauté in olive oil, add to pasta cooked “al dente” and top with grated Parmesan- joy! ( I blanch it in the water I’m using for the pasta) One more recipe- have you tried making instant mac & cheese, except (after cooking the noodles) add Greek yogurt instead of water? The difference is extraordinary!
I know Habitat for Humanity exists in Canada too, but I'm not sure about specifics - in the US they have locations called ReStores where folks donate things and they sell furniture for SUPER cheap. Might be helpful trying to get yourselves back on your feet.
Hardware stores have big tubes that you can get someone to cut certain amounts for you - usually I'd probably check if the plastic is fish/food safe and then I think the person possibly heated it to get it permanently bent between the two jars (which I'm not sure I'd be comfortable putting heated plastic in my tank but who knows) midwest tacos are my favorite go to
My QOTW answer. I personally prefer using my air fryer for quick meals. I can toss in some seasoned chicken strips, with seasoned potatoes and some corn and its done in 15-20 mins.
Honey glazed pork A warm, sweet & savory dish with comfort food vibes - cube pork in bite-sized pieces - 50/50 honey + soy sauce. You need less of this than you think, it's pretty potent. Add spices and dilute with water to taste. Ginger, all spice, and smoked paprika are tasty choices - any random veggies you feel like adding First you pan fry the pork and veggies until the pork is almost done cooking. Make sure you have rice cooking on the side as you do this. Add your honey/soy sauce slurry. Cook until pork is done and sauce is a preferable texture. Serve over rice You can also make a slurry with about a table spoon of corn starch or other thickening agent and a little bit of room temp water if the sauce needs to be thickened. Make sure this gets cooked into the dish before serving Final step, we ballin B) Found this to be a good emergency meal because it cooks quickly, requires minimal prep (even easier if you cube pork before hand and keep it in the freezer), uses one pan, and is filling
QOTW:Define quick and easy. Is something you put in the oven and then leave for an hour quick and easy. On that note, country style pork ribs or cuban black beans.
Bird poop has nutrients that are good for fish. Also, it's possible that snail was dead already and the cory was cleaning up the leftovers. That being said- maybe he was hungry ;)
califlower spagetti!! soo easy and you'd never know it wasn't meat. saute some diced garlic and onions, throw some cut up (finely) cali in there, fry for a bit, add some beef/veg stock to make sure the cali is soft, add in tomato basil sauce (I like raos) and tomato paste (to thicken) and then boil out some of the water to thicken. Ofc boil noodles and you are done B)

Im so trying this..may add some chicken for z bit more protein if first try goes well!
QOTW : i do soups, can use frozen vegies, leftovers whatever you have it always comes out good and easy, just throw somethings in the water with spices and it can be done as fast as 20min :)
Graduated high school, now I can stay up late to watch FFT as soon as the video drops! 🎉🎉🇦🇺🇨🇦
Re-scaped my 20 gallon, got rid of the fake plants and planted a ton of bacopa in the inert substrate, (they grow like crazy without fertilisation in my expirience). And my planted shrimp breeding tank is doing grreeaatt (even though it's overrun with thousands of tiny pond snals and the only thriving plants are the vallisnerias XD)
I'm planning on scaping one or two heavily planted nano tanks, for Chili rasboras and endler breeding. Those red and blue endlers are so beatiful.
Congrats on graduating!! And wishing you much luck with your projects!
@@laurabustos6560 thank you!!
Woo finally returned to this channel after a few months! And I’m instantly hooked! 🔥
They are also all species a LFS should be able to handle. Even those snakeheads are a smaller species.
Delicious.
Quick noms - chip butty (chips as in your French frys but thicker cut ) spread butter on white bread slice (has to be white) put on chips squirt of tomato sauce and the other buttered bread slice on top and eat , simple but filling ( not for every day) 😁
Grilled cheese and tomato soup. My favorite. You’re doing great.
Good news! I started a new fish tank and have great success! Blue dream shrimp on top

Me: FISH FOR THOUGHT 🔥🗣️🔥🗣️🔥
1 minute this feels magical
QOTW: Chicken and wild rice with broccoli.
Salt chicken and quick sear in Olive Oil.
Throw on baking sheet, sprinkle on some Italian seasoning, or whatever you prefer.
Throw broccoli on same pan, drizzle in olive oil, salt and pepper to taste.
Cook wild rice, can also do a 25/75 wild to white rice mix to stretch the wild rice. Also buy par cooked wild rice to save time.
At 8:05 he says its debateable and I heard "it's the betta bowl".

Chicken Broth with Miso, 5 Slices of Pork, Green Onions, Bamboo Shoots, Narutomaki, Nori Seaweed and a Seasoned Egg, and noodles. Of course you can adjust for what you like. Sometimes I add kimchi.

QOTW: Arroz con tocino!!! Rice with bacon :)) it’s very simple, this is how I make it! you’ll need
Rice, bacon, 1 yellow onion, soy sauce, crushed chili pepper and lemon.
I was bemoaning my massive bacterial bloom (our tap water😢) after a water change, losing a betta and a guppy, and seeing your perseverance after such a terrible experience made me stop feeling sorry and get back to doing what I can to get back on track
another monday another fish tank review keep posting vids like this
You can get large gauge hose like that at most hardware stores. They sell them by the foot, from large rolls.
QoTW: #1 is pasta, it's quick, if you want extra protein and fiber without bothering to make meat use lentil pasta and if you don't like jarred sauce most can be made in about 10 min (I was very surprised when I first learned Alfredo is like 4 ingredients and takes 10 min lol)
#2 anything you can put in a crock pot. Throw in meat, beans, corn, peppers, tomato, broth and a chili seasoning packet and let it be until you are ready to eat. Bonus, lots of leftovers
My first ever FTR that I’ve watched, since I’ve started watching the series
QOTW: My go-to meal is pan seared cubed spam, dressed in a sweet soy sauce and eat it over a bed of left over white rice. Super delicious, easy and fast to make, and packed with protein. I like to dice some carrots with the spam too. Really feeling for you during these hard times. Just survived hurricane Helene in florida and thankfully my 5 tanks made it through. One of my kuhlis got spooked and is now not swimming well, but we look up! Hang in there my guy, better times ahead!
I have my aquarium plants in terracotta pots. I love it!

THIS WEEK'S QOTW WAS MADE FOR ME 😤 DISABLED POWERS! ACTIVATE!
Okay so I'm actually always tired and deal with chronic pain so I have a few recommendations that I use regularly. They shouldn't take you too long to make but I don't have a ballpark since I cook in little stages with rest on between so I don't give up and decide not to eat lmao
Meal 1:
Spring rolls.
2:05 they are blue bitterling. Native to SE Asia
I have 4 tanks with kuhli Liaches..I do see them all the time I look at one of them. The tanks are heavily planted but I still can spot them
Thanks for making our Mondays just a little bit better!
QOTW
Sliced precooked sausage like bratwurst or kielbasa pan fried instead of using beef for HamburgerHelper.
Ive had the absolute best luck finding awesome bowls for shrimp at the Thrift Store!!!
8:54 pepper cory
The substrate colour made him her dark 😂
"Dood" lol, my mystery snails go walkabout like that too. I'll find eggs laid under my pothos leaves above the tank, or find a snail that found it's way down to the floor (tank is on a Husky workbench), and nearly to my cat's water fountain. All closed up. I give a little sniff, and if it's not stinky, back in the tank with em. Sometimes they hide and dry out before I find them, sadly.
I love the bacon pancakes bird and did not expect to see it on here!
What in the world is kd?
@@LukeMcGuireoides Sorry. I forgot that KD is mainly a Canadian term. It's Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Dinner (aka Kraft Dinner)
QOTW:
1) Chop and drop all your veggies and meat in a wok & stir fry.
2) Chop and drop everything in your rice cooker - one pot meal.
3) Use a microwave to steam some fish fillet & vegetables.
4) If all heat sources fail, then toss a quick salad with cheese & nuts.
You can use hamster tunnels that are sealed with plumbing tape to make a fish tunnel
Great idea!
as someone who works with fish vendors who reuse boxes it’s super common to see labels like that on the outside of a box with a totally different order in them. i have had saltwater fish boxes come in saying there’s 50 wrasses with an Indonesian shipping label.
QOTW: Mexican-ish breakfast burrito. Eggs, chorizo, beans, queso fresco, pico de gallo, avocado, tapatio, and sourcream. 😋😋
In the betta fish tank with the tube! I have that exact same cookie jar! I use it to keep Malaysian trumpet snails.
Love these videos!! ❤
QOTW- my two favorite simple comfort foods:
-grilled cheese sandwich- (sourdoughbread, American cheese, a dab of Grey Poupon)
-blanch rapini and sauté in olive oil, add to pasta cooked “al dente” and top with grated Parmesan- joy! ( I blanch it in the water I’m using for the pasta)
One more recipe- have you tried making instant mac & cheese, except (after cooking the noodles) add Greek yogurt instead of water? The difference is extraordinary!
geez I was trying to make bullet points, not cross out words!! :^o
Honey and ginger marinated pork chops are easy! You can grill outside or bake
I was also forgotten while playing hide and seek as a kid... never got over it

I guess I'm not a real fan. I couldn't limit it to just twice.
this is why i love monday
Go-to quick meal: brown sugar oatmeal! Low mess too!
I like making ramen toss in some rice an egg. Couple of other whatevers for taste.
I know Habitat for Humanity exists in Canada too, but I'm not sure about specifics - in the US they have locations called ReStores where folks donate things and they sell furniture for SUPER cheap. Might be helpful trying to get yourselves back on your feet.
Hardware stores have big tubes that you can get someone to cut certain amounts for you - usually
I'd probably check if the plastic is fish/food safe and then I think the person possibly heated it to get it permanently bent between the two jars (which I'm not sure I'd be comfortable putting heated plastic in my tank but who knows)
midwest tacos are my favorite go to
I always get jumpscared by the ftr, then i realise that it's been an entire week since the last one.
My QOTW answer. I personally prefer using my air fryer for quick meals. I can toss in some seasoned chicken strips, with seasoned potatoes and some corn and its done in 15-20 mins.
If you wouldn't even be happy with the amount of jam it holds... Your Betta won't be happy with the amount of water it holds.
That is 100% a fish store order 😂
Honey glazed pork
A warm, sweet & savory dish with comfort food vibes
- cube pork in bite-sized pieces
- 50/50 honey + soy sauce. You need less of this than you think, it's pretty potent. Add spices and dilute with water to taste. Ginger, all spice, and smoked paprika are tasty choices
- any random veggies you feel like adding
First you pan fry the pork and veggies until the pork is almost done cooking. Make sure you have rice cooking on the side as you do this. Add your honey/soy sauce slurry. Cook until pork is done and sauce is a preferable texture. Serve over rice
You can also make a slurry with about a table spoon of corn starch or other thickening agent and a little bit of room temp water if the sauce needs to be thickened. Make sure this gets cooked into the dish before serving
Final step, we ballin B)
Found this to be a good emergency meal because it cooks quickly, requires minimal prep (even easier if you cube pork before hand and keep it in the freezer), uses one pan, and is filling
Hey bru, it's Monday. It's fish tank reviewing time. You and all viewers must have a lekker and awesome day
QOTW:Define quick and easy. Is something you put in the oven and then leave for an hour quick and easy. On that note, country style pork ribs or cuban black beans.
When i crush snails my Corys tend to eat them. As for the tubes, you can get them at Home Depot at the pumping section.
