That was excellent.Yes you have a lovely soft voice. For the people who need dimensions, the tie is basically made up from two squares the same size!If you want a large floppy bow tie , make large squares. If you want a smaller one make smaller squares. Please don't give the lady a hard time because you don't know what size bow tie you want. She has explained and demonstrated brilliantly.Thank you
Hello Ruth, Thank you for this wonderful tutorial!! I am a (very new, as in not even sewn anything but practice lines) beginner "seamstress." I want to make doggy bowties (but once I am experienced i want to make dresses and corsets). I've tried the "no sew" tutorial, and it comes out messy and looking like a kindergarten project... I wanted a tutorial on sewing one, and the other tutorial I found was for a bowtie you fold and tie... I am grateful for your help! My grandma had a fair size collection of sewing machines, and knew how to sew since childhood. But she passed away before she could teach me how t use one, but she taught my sister the basics. She had taught me to crochet after i became chronically ill, to give me something to do.. So this past Xmas, Santa (by way of my big sister) brought me a PINK sewing machine! I am afraid to do something wrong and break it... so I am reading and rereading the manual. ;) Thanks again!
With those measurements the finished bow tie will measure about 3x5” which is a little larger than the standard men’s dress bow tie (2.5”x4.75”). Just an FYI. Thank you
The info. that I was looking for. I had purchased a selection of 5 bow-ties on Amazon. But they had fabric and hooks that can be difficult to adjust and secure. So I purchased the clips online; usually the same manufacturer but different prices and sellers. 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 "" wide for men. I was concerned about the holes fraying. I cheated and used a small dab of 2 pt. epoxy that I had on hand on the 'wings' and secured with elastic bands. Then I cut off the fabric band and put dabs of 'school glue' to keep from fraying. I could have cut off the band first but wanted to see results first. Very nice; and I don't get a long neck tie caught in my lap-top case, drawers, or fly and no tie bar jewelry I may look like Pee-Wee Herman but I don't ride a kids bike. You should purchase now or DIY before the 'Fad' kicks in. Back to the 40's and 50's. I foresee a Family business with Alibaba .
Hello Jay, I purchased my bowtie clips off Amazon. Here's a link to one seller, but there are also several others you could look at: www.amazon.com/10-Metal-Bow-Tie-Clips/dp/B00C0E889Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1485882796&sr=8-2&keywords=bowtie+clips
I need to know the dimensions of the material to cut for the adult ones. why give a u tube video on how to do something and don't give the dimensions of the fabric to do it with ?
For standard bow tie size (4.75”x2.5”) cut both pieces of fabric at 6.5”x5.5”.
