The Odd Compass made a video a few days back on ancient Indian cities. This video was also another fresh introspective outlook on the same. Thanks, Akshar for coming up with these gems! Release your Patreon soon, so that I can support you.
These narratives build up a logical reasoning and contemplation of filling the gap between Ancient and 21st Century India. Keep up your passion of connecting the dots and understanding of ancient civilizations.
What an amazing video, brother! The mind-blowing details and stunning visuals you’ve incorporated are truly impressive. I hope this video reaches at least a million people. I really appreciate how you’ve focused on the visual aspect - it’s a smart move that will likely appeal to a wider audience. While some may be drawn to the unique visual art style, others (like me) will deeply appreciate all the intricate details you’ve put into it. Incredible work! Thanks again for video. Hope you keep going.
How has your content not blown up yet? The loony leftists at the UA-cam must be limiting it 😢. Seriously, consider posting your content on X and Rumble as well. Great content, explanation, and illustrations! Amazing work, Akshar! 👏
Sorrowfully, both cities and villages in present India are dilapidated, abyssal and congested habitations, whcih can't inspire any great thought. We have just neglected what was foundational to our civilization, beauty, grandness and timelessness.
@@TheEmissaryCo Yes brother, it is a true phrase 'life is cheap in India', one we shouldn't be proud of. Can't understand how all this can be overturned when nobody seems to care. My own once great nation now feels like sapping any bit of inspiration and will to perform and help, such a sorrow in vain!
hey bro, there is a lot of arguments against the idea that caste was ever an Indian thing but was a British creation. please make a video on this if u can. thanks man
Excellent video with so many thoughtful ideas like though centralization project of indian state is still going on and with modi for 10 years in govt it has slightly enhanced yet society still pretty much dominates state and its apparatuses even to this day. With american influence (and anglo?) it would be seen what do we wish to see ourselves and as you said caste in ancient india gave way to capital, the capital today is penetrating into many aspects of individual as well as communal life of indians. Centralization at one hand and our intent/desire to explain ourselves to west would be a bigger challenge i think.
Regarding urbanism.. our local admin bodies are under staffed and poorly managed. These days useless debate on constitution, manusmriti and blah blah going on as if constitution is only about free speech, minority rights and individual rights and what about our urban/local bodies and militant taxing urge of indian state to milk everything?
Caste politics has an upper limit when it comes to highly urbanized and cosmopolitan cities like Mumbai. Only religion and regional politics has a chance there. BJP won significantly in Kokan Area including Mumbai in this Assembly election of Maharashtra.
hey @theemissaryco, amazing video! I love your content and I sent an email to get involved with your team but didn't hear back. I'm a great fan of indology and venturing promising and necessary narratives. would still love to contribute!
Nicely thought-up and cogently presented. But what you present as a prediction has been the natural flow of Indian religious and spiritual life for at the last two thousand five hundred years and yes, it's tied to each wave of re-urbanization. The two or three phases of de-urbanization post Harappa - due to the Hunas, Turushkas, and then the Angrez - a thousand five hundred, eight hundred and two hundred odd years ago interrupted this flow but then also led to new phases of urbanization as the invaders were resisted or expelled. The problem that your prediction comes up against is that while Indians built anew after the Hunnic and Turkic calamities, I don't see the same today after the British calamity. We're trying to make cities that weren't built for us, work, and expectedly they don't.
Yes a lot of it is force fitting ideas of the west to India which results in a strange growth paradigm. I think there will be some rhyming in history but globalization factor & contrast with Islamic invasion period provides an interesting twist
A lot of problems impeding this Urbanization process with the main one being how Indian cities are governed. Unlike most Major cities around the world, Indian cities don't have a Mayoral System to govern cities instead there are bureaucrats who run the show instead of democratically elected mayors. Although there is an elected council, they aren't given enough powers to make changes. The laws regarding cities are outdated & no one seems to care about it except a few politicians here & there. The system is such that only a Cabinet rank Minister is able to repair/widen roads inside of a city. This is just an example to show just how powerless Municipal Corporations are. All decisions regarding the administration & governance of a city are taken by these bureaucrats & the residents have almost no say in decisions which directly affect them. This has led to severe mismanagement of cities with no sembelance of town planning at all. This has led Housing shortages, high rents, severe traffic, poor public transport, lack of public open spaces & parks, not to mention Jaan leva pollution. This is the main reasons why the quality of life is so low in Indian cities compared to other cities. If Indian cities are to grow then we have to adopt a Mayoral System as soon as possible. It is the need of the hour. A majority of problems would be solved if we embraced this. Till this reform happens Indian cities will never be able to grow & reach their true potential. I wish more Indians knew about this.
there's a big issue of lack of local governance officials in India vs say US or China. Too many officials for federal/state while local and esp urban governance languishes.
Chitpavans Brahmins used to be firsherman caste but now the high status amomg Brahmins Valmiki were Brahmins but now dalits Yadav are now sudra but were kshatriyas in Vedic time Agarwal were kshatriyas now middle caste ( business caste) Caste feudal was never fixed until the caste census was done by Britishers
I'm not smart enough to test the cryptographic method but so far it hasn't been broken. Seems decent so far but let's see. I think it aligns with Southern Arc hypothesis of Indo-European migration.
I don't think caste is much important In every orthodox Vedic rituals gotra is much more important We gave teachers students relationship based on gotra Rather than caste And those who do not subscribe to gotra are given general gotra as kashyap ( so even if a non Hindu who join the Hinduism he will consider kashyap gotra, which is said to be gotra of all human kind ) Casts is not tied with culture , rituals gotra is

Interesting narrativization but too simplistic considering the complexcities we observe in the sources.
Fair critique! That era has a lot of complexities

Can you do a vid about the recent decipherment of the Harrapan Script saying it’s Sanskrit. Is it legit? I think it’s bogus.
