Loving all these unboxings. Congrats on the high grades! Always nice to see things to motivate me to keep on working on this 25k+ collection of mine lol
I'm so glad that you didn't have to eat that Spawn #8 with ketchup and a spoon. LOL. Congrats on the grades. I love how your t-shirt matched the Star Wars cover.
Amazing. Really wish it would be possible for us Europeans to have an office here to send to. That Star Wars book I have not been able to source for a reasonable price.
@Dan T I really do too mate. I'm in the UK and the thought of sending books to the USA and having them sent back would would be way to stressful and, no doubt, costly. 🙄
@@ImproveCollectingComics I've thought about it, but frankly nothing in my collection (@ 5000) is worth grading.... I read them too much. 😆 I do have some lovely new books I would love to get slabbed though. Maybe I should set up a UK grading company.... 🤔
@@2ndbestbob28 CGC has the UK office, but my understanding is that the shipping will end up costing mostly the same in the end as it's just sending it bulk to the US.
Hi David, and thanks! This Sunday's video is even crazier... I literally did a dumb looking little hop dance in it because of one of the grades. I almost cut it out, but am going to leave it.. even if I am an overzealous ridiculous person lol
0.1% of all CGC graded books are 10. 0.4% of all CGC grade books are a 9.9. 40% of all CGC graded books are a 9.8. 17% of all CGC graded books are a 9.6. *_A CGC grade of 9.8 is the most common grade._* *_Close to 8,5 Million books have been graded by CGC._*
Although cgc makes me made your videos have made me 400 profit in submissions the last two months based on your grading subjectivity. Only 29 and I plan on making this my career down the road but hobby and pc first
I'm not a big fan of signing books, although I am fine with others doing it. I wouldn't mind getting a slab signed though. I know it adds value, but ink on a book??? yuck lol
Hi, where did you get your tack iron from? I looked on Amazon, and I couldn’t find one that I’ve seen you use. Or I’m not searching correctly lol. Please let me know 🙏🏼😁
I literally just close my eyes and add the sticky note. You can do it blind pretty easily, it's not difficult to find the top corner of the front by feel
I appreciate the vote of confidence, but not.. this is just a fun hobby for me, besides "flipping" personal books and building my own collection, I don't have interest in making money at this
You are probably the most pedantically strict grader on youtube so I have a question. Do you find that there is any difference between a CGC 9.8 and a 9.6 aside from some subjective severity of a possibly imaginary bindery defect? It is not difficult to find imperfect 9.8s and pristine 9.6s
What I am learning is that there actually are a lot fewer "questionable" grades from CGC than I thought I'd see. They definitely grade looser than I thought they would, but almost all of the grades look appropriate. There is always a range, so a book could get 9.0 9.2 or 9.4, but most of the time it will get 9.2, the median of the range. I come from a pro poker background, and we are always thinking about ranges of possible outcomes, and to me, getting a book graded is no different. In other words, 100 graders can look at the same book; 50 give it a 9.6, 25 give it a 9.4, and 25 give it a 9.8. Of course, there are books that will get 9.8 90 times and 9.6 10 times. So the ranges can definitely skew based on the defects. Some books are slam dunk 9.8's, 9.6's, or 9.4's, but often they are in that "in-between" gray area. To answer your question specifically, most 9.8's have 5 "negligible" defects or fewer or one or two minor defects or fewer. The way I categorize it is that if you have to angle the book a certain way to see a defect well, it is negligible, but if it immediately stands out when you see the book but does not detract from the appeal of the book, really, it is minor. If it detracts quite a bit, then I call it moderate. So yeah, if I am put on the spot, I can usually say, "this book will get 9.6 like 80%+ of the time, and that book should get 9.8 like 80%+ of the time. But we can never be 100% sure unless a book is completely flawless. There will always be grading variance depending on the grader you happen to get on that particular day.
@@ImproveCollectingComics I hope in the future EGS starts getting more popular and a census of their own or something. I always wanted a 9.9 or a 10 but seeing how often most of the books are affected by binary issues it practically impossible to get one yourself. I think I would have to buy one in order to have it in my PC. Your consistency at getting awesome grades is always fantastic to see. Each video comes out better than the last and that's how your channel is blowing up, which is a good thing. God Bless you and yours, and stay safe during the holidays.

Congrats on the Star Wars book! Great job!!
Thank you!! 😁

Thanks so much!
Nice! Well done on the SW book!
Thank you! Cheers!

Yeah, not sure I should of bet that with CGC lol
Huge win on the star wars book! Love all the Mcfarlane books too!
Thanks!
Amazing submission. I just got back some of the hardest grading ever from CGC. You will see it in a future video.
Ouch, sorry to hear that. Looking forward to the video! Any potential resubmits?
@@ImproveCollectingComics there are a few. The grades shocked me to say the least.

Probably the only cost effective thing to do is submit large numbers of books and/or higher value books

*_A CGC grade of 9.8 is the most common grade._*
*_Close to 8,5 Million books have been graded by CGC._*
That’s also partly due to the fact that most collectors don’t send in books without the possibility of a book getting a 9.8 on a average.
Thanks for the stats. Makes perfect sense, due to there being a lot more new books being submitted and the rarity of older books

Nice!
The Master making us all feel bad again! ;)
LOL not my intent. I want to empower everyone to work on their own books and achieve similar results
Good job on that SWBF book. Very nice indeed. Have you reworked that GI Joe 1 for resubmit yet?
It came back but I am waiting on another batch to come back before I do the "re-press" video
So glad I picked up a lot of Mcfarlane books back in the day. They seem to always be in demand.
One of the best and safest investments in comics, for sure!
How much would it be for you to press my modern star wars books? 👀 😆. Love that Star Wars book btw!
This is just a hobby for me, I don't do it for money... but thanks for the confidence in my abilities!
Surprised u didnt try to have todd sign those books either way awesome grades
