There seemed to be two funerals, or was it two aspects of the same? (The leading Bolshevik I can think of who died in 1919 was Yakov Sverdlov, and I heard his name mentioned in what looked to be a 2nd funeral.)

I think it's Gora Lozgachev, adopted son of Lenin's sister Anna. Anna's husband Mark Yelizarov died in 1919.
They had a lot of funerals back in those days. Some were planned in advance, some were spontaneous.
The first funeral is Elizarov´s. The second Sverdlov´s. Both were marriedo to sisters of Lenin.

Lenin sacrificed political liberty and democracy for the sake of party unity and maintaining centralized power. The Bolsheviks claimed to represent the proletariat, and believed that they did so axiomatically, and yet they manipulated the Soviet system and brutally suppressed other political parties and even factions within their own party, turning the soviets from bottom up sources of worker authority and democracy to top down mechanisms of party control. The Boleshiviks claimed to represent the proletariat, but in reality they ruled them. How many of the soviet leaders came out of the working class? A few, but not many. How many were elected to their place by democratic means and not by party appointment? None.
You see this in every country that followed Lenninism: an authoritarian central single party that dominates and subjugates the working class just like any capitalist class would. There are better, kinder ways to do communism. Lennin smothered them in their cradle.
Lennin was a brilliant man, but ultimately his religious and authoritarian take on Marxism soured the movement for a century or more, and cost millions of lives. The Bolsheviks betrayed democracy, and in doing so betrayed the proletariat.

@Thomas, seriously? The Soviet Union failed; Socialism is a failure, and that is borne out in examples throughout history, most recently, Venezuela (but Cuba isn't far behind). Europe is not a "pale version of the Soviet Union because at their core they're capitalist societies. Yes, they are welfare states that require a huge tax burden from their citizens, but that doesn't make them Socialists or Marxists, and they're certainly not the totalitarian states the Soviet Union was. As for the US, not even close to the Soviet Union, yet, but with the entitled attitude of the younger generations (who think they know everything but don't), I can definitely see us headed in that direction.

@@1997lordofdoom it is also not true that the majority of socialists condemned the soviet union during lenin, the influence of the russian revolution was so impressive that there was a possible risk for many european countries such as france germany or italy to become bolshevik countries, during 1919-1920. Moreover, the only major critique made towards the soviet union by socialists was in 1939, when Stalin, with the pact Molotov-Ribbentrop, allied with hitler.

Я сейчас подумала, но может ведь человек ошибаться и не осознавать до конца, скорее всего в больших трудностях многодетной семьи и нервотрепках, что он преподносит(не императорская семья ведь). А потом как гласят законы, если в семье есть уголовники и т.д. какие должности могут разрешить занимать... Очень чувствуется нет хозяйки в России, а про соблюдение законов(урегулирования порядка, здравомыслящего поведения нашего и т.п.) я могу сказать лишь одно , правоохранительные инстанции, блюстители порядка давно не работают или не хотят работать, не по призванию работают(тогда слабы в правилах игры , скажем так). Ну почему???!!!!
