@12:42 You get an optional pouch for this and you shouldn't put the small stuff in there anyway. @13:44 If you want metal zippers and highend adjustable straps, you pay a huge premium.
Great review I like the lightning review and a agree with most of your points, however I think peak Design everyday backpack materials isn’t made out of waxed canvas. If I’m not mistaken it’s Kodra a Korean alternative to Cordura and the rubber bits are Hypalon. The backpack chest/sternum strap is to help stabilize the bag so it doesn’t swing around but it doesn’t really compress anything.
Nice review. I don't mind the plastic snaps though. Pretty much every messenger bag has them. I have one I bought in Sydney in 2004 and the plastic snaps are still as strong as ever. I also bought a Chrome Soma backpack reciently. 25L and it's a very neat bag. As long as you use these bags within their design perameters ( ie - don't buy a 25L if you need a 50L ) they work perfect.
I’m a big fan, great quality for what they charge. The only thing that consistently bothers me is the plastic they use in the interior. I don’t like how it feels when I’m digging around and I don’t like how it looks. A nice quality mesh... or a hybrid like my Alchemy bag would go a long way.
Dammit, what I want is the Ogio in top quality, waterproof, the works! It has the organisation I want and it can stand up. Two out of three essentials, but I need all three. Would like better straps too. Great videos man!
Ah... the elusive "perfect bag". I've yet to find it myself, it's probably why I keep buying bags. Most of these have 1 or 2 flaws that, over time, grow into a quality-of-life problem. If I ever find it, I'll make a vid ASAP.
Ha! The perfect bag..the Eldorado of bags..you nailed it my friend. I know what you are saying too well, and I too have yet to find one that is both small and slim enough, while being super weatherproof, be able to stand on its own reasonably well and have an overload of organisation. I have come close to hitting all but one, but then one is always missing and I am no further in the end. WAIL! These fools should just ask me to design a bag for them, and I would make a killer bag!
Yes the waterppof Ohio would be a perfect or near bag but geta goodwaterprroof missionworkshop bag and a grid it and your done I have done this with the radian and other stuff
I used a gridit for the MW bag to try a compensate for those wasted compartments. It got old real quick. Pulling out the whole gridit, taking out your gear, then threading your gear back in at the end of the day. Word of advice, if you find yourself buying extra stuff to try and make your bag more functional, you got yourself a bag problem.
I am afraid I also hesitate to solve the problems by adding a big Grid It. I do use an insert in an Italian leather murse I have, because the rooms are totally bare leather square boxes, but it certainly is no dream scenario. Still, Andrew has a point, as long as I can't find the bag that is both waterproof, slim, has lots of organization and can stand up, a man gotta do what a man gotta do. But the Mission bag? Hell no, it cant stand, has almost no organizing, doesn't lift the laptop off the floor, etc..The only things it has going for it are being slim and being in good materials. But ,my North Face has that, better laptop protection and better organizing, so no gain.
Good review, I do believe you've been a bit harsh on the mission workshop, yes you are right with the data, but you are comparing it to those others, that bag is not really comparable, in the sense that it's a carry bag, it's built for carrying a ton of stuff and not feel the load. The other bags are made for carrying your edc, plus laptop and and a jacket, while the MW is meant to go to the supermarket and come back with your weekly groceries or if not even backpacking (I did a three day hike with it with some friends, I carried the tent, my sleeping bag, plus a bunch of canned food and a jacket) Just for you to notice for example, none of the other bags have shoulder straps, which is used to carry heavy loads and easily shifting the bag's weight between your shoulder and your hips so none of them get tired when exposed to long periods of time.
Otherwise great review!, having the MW one, I do need a small edc bag like those, and you did bring my attention to the peloton asphalt... I do want the the rhake, but as you said, 350?! ouch!.
I’ve been thinking about this, actually. You have a point, looking back at it now. I gave it hell for organization, but that’s not really what this bag is about. I think I just approached this with the wrong state of mind. I will stick with my scores though, materials... for almost $400 I should not be seeing plastic anywhere on this bag. The lack of padding anywhere, and the bare bones laptop compartment is a big knock on build. I’ll think about the Rhake every now and then, it’s a very cool looking pack. But then I remember that price, and the extra price for cobra buckles. Then I remember why I didn’t buy it.
For the Peak Design bag, I have to disagree on the materials, given the price them made some missteps. A minor one, the straps are nice and strong (seat belt weave) is slippery which means that straps need continually readjustment (the hip belt is useless for me). A major issues is that the fabric material on the rear pad wears out and rather fast.
Answering my own question: I got the small peloton backpack (24-34L) and it does not feel heavy and is not square or bulky in the ways that I was concerned. I agree that I wish it replaced the small bits of plastic with mesh, but it's a small detail compared to all the other things I love about this bag, how thoughtfully it was designed, and how amazing it feels on my back. I'm definitely loving the small peloton!
Glad you’re liking it, I still have this bag and don’t plan on ever getting rid of it. It is a bit on the heavy side but there’s a lot going on with the pack.
I currently own the Ogio renegade backpack you reviewed in this video and I like that I can carry my gym shoes and clothes for after work in it. However, I'm seriously considering The North Face 28L access pack so I'm anxious to see how you rate your 22L version. Just off the top of your head do you think I would be able to fit my gym shoes, shorts and shirt along with my computer and headphones in the access pack? Thanks for your reviews by the way, I appreciate the content.
Yeah, definitely. I can fit shoes, shirt/shorts in my 22L, so 28L should be no problem with that plus the headphones. I'm gonna rate it pretty high I think.
I have a 20oz, and it’s just about right. So I’m gonna lean towards no, or a maybe. The side pockets need work on Chrome bags, they don’t really expand outward, but expand into the bag. There really isn’t much wiggle room.
I have a slight problem with wanting to try different bags. If I find something that catches my eye, and meets my criteria I’ll try it out. I usually don’t go back to my older bags. No issues with the Peloton.
@@HumorousMaximus Thank you for replaying to my message. Just tyring to justify buying a bag withouth trying it out in person first. Your videos are great btw, love the way you review items. Thanks again.
Hi, I have been watching your videos. They are great! I also the Peak Design backpack and I love it as well! The thing is, like you, I need a bag that gives me a lot of pockets for organising. After looking for a long time, I finally decided to check the tactical kind of bags. I got one thats built in my country (Brazil) and it has a similar design of the 5.11 bags. It is fairly well built, but I'm loving it! I totally recommend that you take a look at 5.11 Rush 24, 48 or 72 models. That's the next bag I'm going to buy! Many pockets and built to last! Thanks!
The Rush is nice but has some deal breaking problems for me. In general, the problem with tactical bags are that they are usually soft, so they can't stand up nicely on their own, they are usually really heavy, and they look way too informal or even military for an office/professional environment. You can't look like a cool urbanite with fucking molly webbing and giant velcro patches all over the place, you gonna wear camouflage pants with your suit too? And the Rush is suffering from all that. Also it has no nice laptop and tablet pocket!!! And it has a big main compartment I have no need for whatsoever. So, nice organizing and quality, but lacks everything else imo.
@@HumorousMaximus found it, thank you! What is your favorite backpack of all that you have owned? I need to buy one for my tech-savvy, game developer husband. He would use it to commute and as his carry on to travel (to to pack clothing, etc. in). Any thoughts you have would be appreciated!
Very hard for me to pick a favorite, my tastes shift as new stuff catches my eye. I’m currently awaiting 2 more packs! Right now my favorite is probably the Access pack, the latch mechanism and pull tabs are super unique. But it’s a very limited carry, as I stressed in my video. So not for extended travel. I’m using the Prima system right now, also made a video about it. It has a good amount of expansion, pretty good organization, and I love the look. But that’s just my opinion. I try to provide as much real world info as I could to help you all make up your own minds, at the end of the day. My tastes are not everyone’s tastes.

Hi. Thanks for your reviews. can you recommend a backpack that has a slot to slide in my cabin luggage handles and rolls just perfectly fine? and of course a good backpack.
Sorry, I cannot. I don't have my eye on all bag types. These bags are the extent of my experience. I don't really pay attention to luggage-type bags. A good backpack to me, won't always mean a good backpack for you. Which is why I rate these bags and leave that decision to you. I can tell you the brands I trust, from experience. Chrome Industries, Life Behind Bars, Peak Design, The North Face.
The Nomatic company has let me down, they sold me something that was different than what they were advertising. So my trust in them is gone. Other users also feel the same way. But others have left me comments about the Travel Pack being well made, and not having the same problems as the Backpack. So it's gonna be a gamble for you to find out.
I've gotten 4 Mission Workshop backpacks and I can confidently say that they're overrated crap... Although I do rather like their Drift Laptop Bag (which is just a massive overbuilt tote). The Vandal is OK but the zipper broke and their famously wonderful customer service told me to ship it back to them for $50 or buy some cheap replacement zipper on Amazon. Their R6 Arkiv was a real stinker, truly pointless in its complexity. All of it too rigid, overbuilt and rather silly looking in-person. But again LOL, the Vandal isn't the worst as a carry-on.
You didn’t even open the main flap of the peak design. What gives. This is truly the poorest part of the design .just on open tube that looks like they forgot to finish it. Great for pick pockets in the city tough
I mainly tried to make this a quick overview, maybe too quick. I never thoroughly reviewed the peak design since there were thousands of videos already out there about this bag. It’s pretty damn popular on UA-cam. I delve a little more into it in my Nomatic vs PD video.

Does the Peloton feel heavy? Their website lists it as 4.35lbs, a pound or two more than the chrome bags
