- Brand new "kick ass" pedalboard for STEF BURNS featuring state-of-the-art wiring!
We spent an entire day (April 1, 2021) with Stef Burns, at M-Tech Audio headquarter, in Modena for the ultimate test of his new guitar-pedalboard-amplifier setup, fully hardwired with Reference Cables by Massimo Mantovani, the boss of M-Tech Audio, consultant and designer for many word-class guitarists' live and studio setups).
A truly beautiful meeting (done with all safety precautions required by coronavirus outbreak) to cap off the completion of the work on his new pedalboard re-wiring.
In this video the excerpt of the interview done on-the-spot for "Big Box Magazine" (May 2021 issue) in which the well-known lead guitarist of Vasco Rossi and Huey Lewis & The News talks about the key role of cables throughout the whole signal chain of his live gear, to get the best from his guitar tone.
Cable quality is essential indeed to ensure maximum reliability for live performance (indispensable feature, especially for such a complex setup) but the goal is also to provide the purest sound ever, which could transfer the right feeling from the guitar to the ears, delivering to the audience the sound that Stef has in his mind, namely his own sound.
For that reason Stef Burns has been relying on Reference Cables since many years and this job for his new pedalboard (executed masterfully and with pinpoint accuracy by M-Tech Audio) is not only the confirmation of that choice, but also the highest point, and exemplary implementation as well, of a custom-made skilled wiring, made with super-specialized hi-end cables.
The result is a guitar effects system which is close to perfection, providing maximum dynamics and sound transparency without introducing any noise.
«I want my guitar tone to be as pure as possible» Stef states «not colored at all by anything except for the effect I want to be enabled or my amp settings. If everything's ok, I just need to play and enjoy!»

• RMC01 (for amp cabinet miking)
(*) QU4TTRO is the brand-new and breakthrough (unique of its kind) “all-in-one” cable, expressly designed by Reference Cables for professional 4CM connections (“4 cable method”), namely to connect your guitar to effect pedals and amplifier, using both amp input and its Effect Loop at the same time.

Grazie Matteo!... Da tempo collaboriamo con Stef, ma stavolta il progetto svolto concretamente a 6 mani (Stef + Massimo Mantovani + Reference) ha avuto un significato speciale per noi. Non solo professionalmente, ma anche e soprattutto dal punto di vista umano, considerando il durissimo periodo che tutti stiamo vivendo. La passione per il suono e per la qualità senza compromessi ci ha unito naturalmente. Music will overcome pandemic :-)
Io uso cavi xlr della reference da anni e devo dire che non si sono mai rotti per non parlare della mia mania di tenerli come nuovi e farli su come si deve.mi fa piacere che anche stef burns usa i cavi Jack della reference.🔝🔝🔝🔝
Ci fa davvero piacere che usi i nostri cavi XLR e ne sia così soddisfatto!... Stef usa solo cavi Reference, sia jack per chitarra, sia patch per tutti i pedali, cavi di potenza (testata-cassa), cavi multicore per send/return dell'ampli e controllo MIDI dell loop effetti, cavi microfonici per la ripresa del suo ampli... Insomma da quando Stef ha avuto modo di provare i cavi Reference (diversi anni fa) non ha voluto più usare alcun altro cavo. D'altronde... quando senti il tuo suono con una qualità superiore... non puoi più tornare indietro. Come dargli torto? ;-)

Uso,i ric01 da anni! Purtroppo non sono rimasto soddisfatto, 2 dei 4 cavi che usavo si sono rotti,per dei cavi che sono considerati di fasci alta,non mi sembrano il massimo.
Hai ragione, io avevo ( come il mio maestro) 2 cavi jack rossi e si sono rotti entrambi.Idem il chitarrista del mio gruppo con altri cavi sempre reference.

Ma non usava la helix???
Per un periodo ha usato la helix floor, per un altro periodo helix effects ma con clean e distorsore dell ampli,ma entrambi solo in sostituzione alla sua vecchia pedaliera che le è stata rubata insieme al suo vecchio ampli. Ma stef preferisce la pedaliera assemblata alla vecchia maniera!😁
