    Good to see it on paper then walk through talk through. 66 at the end finished it off nicely. Great video as always. All the best Anth Knill 👍

    nicely done, well explained as well. its good to have some awkward bits, logically so but awkward, gives something to do. and any line with a terminus needs either a reversing loop somewhere or another terminus.
    the "destinations" concept too, a train should have a purpose, from somewhere, to somewhere
    and the layout looks gorgeous

      Thanks for the nice comments. I think it’s the idea of destinations and ‘doing stuff’ at each destination that really begins to develop that sense of ‘a model of a railway’. Along the way I seem to have ensured both my terminus’ are in the same direction! More workings across the viaduct and I don’t mind that. 😁

    Really decent video that and a good layout tour 👍👍👍
    PS edging close to 1000 subs now mate😃

      Cheers mate. Its mad to think how many people subscribe, don’t think I am going to be troubling Mr Beast for a few months yet though! I hope all 3 of these features will be seen in LJ2 😉

      Hope it gives you some ideas. A fun to operate layout doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact when they get too complicated they can be a nightmare to build, make reliable and run!

    Are you using hunt couplers? Did you make the decoupling stick? How?

    • @HighFell
      @HighFell  8 годин тому

      The Mk2 coaches use the Hornby buck eye magnetic couplings supplied with the coaches, but the brake coach at each end has a standard TT:120 coupling. Most of my stock does as it’s better for shunting etc.
      The video on how to make the magnetic uncoupling too is here
      ua-cam.com/video/1TsfHonrU2w/v-deo.htmlsi=9r2Zy6IRpD82B0Ty
      I have done other videos on ‘magic lights’ and removable coal loads, everything uses the wand 😁
      I’m not a fan of the Hunt couplings, they can be very brittle and poorly printed but the WHWW detailing pieces are great

    Do you plan to fit one of those Hornby HM7050 Reverse Loop Modules on your layout? It was one of the items that caught my eye in Hornby's 2025 announcement .

    • @HighFell
      @HighFell  День тому +1

      No, I use a Tam Valley Frog Juicer set up as a RLM, excellent bit of kit. Because I set up High Fell to run on traditional DCC before HM 7000/DCC was announced, it did mean that there were a wider range of components available but of course I also had the additional cost of the DCC controller.

      Good one. In OO been applying a few mods to coaching stock. Had a few issues super glueing optical cable ends to led lens covers and remember you doing this with your toads. Did you have the same issues, doesn’t set for hours so can soon move or runs off on some occasions as well?

    • @HighFell
      @HighFell  23 години тому +2

      @ Hi Andy, the fibre optic doesn’t seem to respond to superglue and does take an age to set. I used Glue N Glaze with much greater success. After it’s set if you paint or cover the other parts of light source you can increase the amount of light going down the fibre.

      @modeloco 😂 if in doubt use Glue N Glaze, it’s a fantastic product with loads of uses!

    This addresses the exact issue I’m mulling over with the design of my Manchester Central station. It had a third release line between each pair of lines in a bay, but that would take up too much space in my layout so I considered the same set up that you have. However I did wonder about how realistic the process of shunting carriages up and a live platform might have been.
    Where you have a pair of switch points do you have them operate as a linked pair ?

    • @HighFell
      @HighFell  День тому +1

      That 3rd line is appealing but as you say it’s always about the space we have. If you have the length you wouldn’t need to use the pilot to jiggle the coaches about. It did happen in various locations too.
      Yes, points that act as cross overs all work as pairs. Peco Twistlock motors, quite a thunk in operation but you can tell when a point has switched! The p power comes from DCC Concepts AD4SX controllers, these have a CDU per channel and also supply the output for the light signals and the frog polarity switching.

    Interesting video, thank you! I was apprehensive as I have reached a point where I think my layout (at least the lower level) is nearly finalised (are they ever?) and I was worried you would mention something I decided I had to have! But I am reassured that I am on the right path. Hopefully!

    • @HighFell
      @HighFell  День тому +1

      It’s only a few suggestions, you have what you want on your layout. The great thing is, if you don’t like something, you can always change it ig

    Fantastic stuff! Really helpful and so nice to see it all in action 👍 Can I ask how large High Fell is? I'm just trying to see what can be achieved ina given space 😁

    • @HighFell

      Main part is 3.2m x 1.25m and Dock is on a 2.4m x 0.25m section, currently 😉

    Hi, I am just starting to build a tt120 layout. I think yours looks amazing, and has given me many ideas and inspiration. A quick question, where did you get the viaduct from.

    • @HighFell
      @HighFell  9 годин тому

      Thank you for the nice comments. Really great it’s given you some ideas and inspiration. Keep looking at as many layouts as you can, we all copy off each other at some point 😁
      The viaduct is 2 x Metcafe N gauge card kits. A lot of N gauge products work very well for TT:120 as they can be oversize.
