✔️The area towards the western end of Lockhart road including a small part of the parallel Jaffe road, is one of Hong Kong island's two main bar districts the other being the more upmarket Lan kwai fong in Central. Once considered primarily as a Red Light District, this area is now more diverse with bars, pubs, restaurants and Discos A number of the raunchier bars still remain, however, their doorways festooned with women from Thailand and the Philippine. The famous novel and film The World Of Suzie Wong sets many scenes in this area. The bar district has been popular with visiting sailors and navies, when Fenwick Pier, west of the Hong kong Convention and Exhibition center, was in use as a military pier.

This looks horrible. I lived in HK from 1994 - 2006 and spent every Friday & Saturday night in Wanchai (wasted youth). Seems like all of the Gogo Bars are gone. I was never a customer, but the Gogo Bars were a fixture of Wanchai, as were the discos. Through backs to Wanchai's days as a Red Light district for Vietnam Vets on R&R. I once did a photo story for the long defunct Pulse magazine about the Gogo Bars, at that time there were 27 of them.
Yep - Old China Hand + Big Apple + Neptune.1 + Neptune.2 with Sam the Manager + 24hr Strawberries with raid escape routes for the overstayer PI girls + Superstar + Firehouse + Pussy Cat where the Brit killed the Indian with a single punch - but The Wanch is still there...
Above Big Apple was another bar called La bamba. Neptunes 1, thats an old one. @@Jefe-Grande
@mansfault3734 Yep - Neptune.1 was the Sailor haven where US and UK navies didn't show their best - but easily upstaged by the madmen of the Aussie navy...
I use to be part owner in a Thai restaurant right next to Strawberry's called Tom Yums. I always liked how the bars were populated by different girls. New Makahti was PI, Laguna was Indo, and Nept. 2 was pro Thais. Last time I was in HK (2017) all the girls were pro, or maybe I was too old to get a free one.@@Jefe-Grande

The streets look familiar but most of the units have changed, other than Makati. Lived and worked in Hong Kong from 1995 until 2001 and had an absolutely fantastic time. Last visited 20 years ago (2004) when I was working in Taiwan. Sad to say, WanChai was changed, even in the that short space of time too!

Even at night, the Wan Chai street is kinda peaceful. Though the street are full of bars and clubs, it seems cool to go around with music. Take care kaps! 19:51

What an interesting night walk in this district. There still a lot of foreigners around with different colors. I don’t even know that there’s a place like that in HongKong. Well, I guess everywhere this is kind of normal. Because even here we have in a open streets. 19:51

I miss hk its like my second home since 2005 -2019
It´s so sad.
In my village we have a pop. of 1200, 1 fast food restaurant, no bar, no nothing but we have more going on than Hong Kong.

This video would be MORE VALUABLE if you would add comments about the PLACES (names of pubs & bars) that are worth visiting….
You proof to us that Hong Kong it’s not that popular truism destination for someone looking for a nightlife and go-go bars to unmatched the same way of south Asian countries. The bars It’s countable by hands only, and there is no much girls hanging out. Maybe these bars meant to be for a residential only, and it’s not for someone who coming all the way to Hong Kong to find girls.
