I had to play against Reggie Bush every time we played Helix High and it always turned into both teams just in awe with how much of a beast he was and none of us on defense stood a chance. I played safety and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t safe out there with him running at me
i was a high jumper/long jumper in a white ass state in high school, and while i literally finished second in the whole state/region in both events to a guy who had to sit out basketball season and just decided to be the best at jumping over stuff, he was a super nice guy and genuinely it broadened my perspective getting to know an extremely cool black guy. we ended up both going to college in the area too and when i would see him at track meets he was always friendly as hell even as i stopped caring about such a lame sport and he became nationally ranked as a high jumper. very gay and mawkish memory but i hope he is doing well today, because he had an extremely african name that was like 70% vowels
getting rocked at your preferred sport by some random black dude is the essence of being a white guy in sports. Played rugby for a decade and was kinda nice at it but we'd have some dudes from the wrestling or football teams walk on and just absolutely rock our shit. it was unreal. still loved it though, those guys were sick asf to have on your team.
My high school team in a major city won 3 out of 4 state titles with no black players on the team. We had the captain of Notre Dame and Purdue on our team but hey, still did.

Fucking sucked as an OT bc the first step was always faster to the outside shoulder. It's like playing 1.5X the speed, but the strength wasn't different. Took me legit 2 qtrs to adjust bc we didn't have anyone that fast that I had practice with.

Blocked a black kid once in front of our whole school during our tourney. We were down like 40 and the gym absolutely exploded. Then i got bullied all fucking game. Was pretty funny. You know that feeling where you instantly know you shouldn't have done something? That was the feeling
