  • We're racing our KTM 690 in the Sweet Lamb Baja Championship in the Big Bike 650+ class. It's a 2 round championship this year, with 3 races at each round, with races up to 3.5 hours long over a mixed terrain mountain course, with laps around 15 miles long.
We had a solid weekend with good but mixed results. We got a great start in race 1 on Saturday morning with a good first lap, until a little fall led to a broken wire and a breakdown. We got it fixed just in time for race 2 on Saturday afternoon, got another good start, and completed 6 laps to give us 4th place.
Sunday was much better weather, but we completely screwed up the start, and ended up last off row 1, 51st overall by the first corner, but came through to 3rd in class after 3.5 hours and 7 laps.
We used Michelin tyres with an Enduro hard on the front and a Desert Race on the rear, and they were both faultless, but the suspension, and particularly the front needs some work.
With 2 out of 3 races going well, it's frustrating to have broken down in race 1, but we know what needs doing, and we've got 4 months to try and make an improvement to the bike before the next round.

Was nice meeting you. Hope your handle bars didn’t vibrate too much.

You too Loy. We should probably concentrate on the starts more though shouldn't we 😂.
We think we found the problem with the bars, so it'll be the same with yours. The OE KTM rubbers have collapsed, and I'm guessing it's the harsh front ends of ours bikes which has done it. I'm trying the K-Tech ORVS kit to see if that improves it.
