I am a 60-year-old adult man, and I cried, yes, I cried a lot, thanks to the team of this wonderful movie.
Madelaines performance was shockingly good. Utterly amazing.
Very rarely have I walked out of a theatre thinking that I might've just watched my favorite movie. This was a masterpiece.

Jesus man, you've obviously never seen a masterpiece or have very low standards. Or are you a ten year old that is taken in totally by brilliant images ? It has a shit script buster. Go see some great films and learn what a 'masterpiece' really means
masterpiece ofc in visual department. but story and the script is mediocre. I expected a lot.
far from a masterpiece in my opinion but for the budget the CGI was untouchable, something rare to see nowadays

I so hope we get a Gareth Edwards extended version when this hits consumer release, I could easily watch a 3.5 hour version.
Doubt it, the film was cut then cg added. For more scenes to be added it will cost massive bucks.

One of the best movies of the past 5 years. It's been a long time since I've had that feeling of watching something really original. Great job to everybody involved in this movie.
The importance Gareth gives to the realism in capturing the truth of human emotions using natural surroundings in his cinema is truly remarkable.
This movie blew me away, yes I was crying, really moved me, the cinematography, the story, the music, superlative, best film I've seen in years
yeah i actually couldn't believe i cried actually crazy
as soon as i finished this movie i called my brother, he had already seen it, and we talked for hours about it. It truly is a wonderful movie, only other time i did that was watching the dark knight again.
This movie feels a lot like District 9 did. All shot with consumer cameras, very vfx heavy, lots of on location shooting, relatively small budget for the scale.
Did you watch Gareth edward first movie? Go watch it. Its much lower budget than District 9

Madeliene’s breakout performance was simply nuke-sized (no pun)! So many tear/heart tugging moments. The moment she said “Am I going to [spoiler word]?” just really, really got in my feels! Fantastic movie!
Imagine if they gave an Oscar to a performance from a 6 year old girl.

yes, all the real locations really set this movie apart from so many of today's sci fi movies and shows that look like they're just on a sterile set with green screen

I love how some people hated it and some people thought it was a masterpiece, those are the movies that are thought provoking and usually win best picture at the academy awards.😊

Flawed? Sure. Didn't stop it from rising to be one of my most favorite movies I've seen in years. I love the world building and the emotional heart of the story.
The only movie everyone wished was longer
It was intended to be a 5 hour movie. It was cut down twice due to the studio's decision.
We need that extended cut.

@@giantdad391 I can see why - the character development was pretty weak. There were times where I wanted to hate on the movie, but the low budget and the cameras they used has me geeking out over how cool it turned out with low budget stuff.

I don't even know that song (Everything In Its Right Place) very well - but I was just familiar enough with it to recognise that gorgeously spine-tingling electric piano intro as soon as it kicked in.
Yes, it worked brilliantly - and it was quite bold just to drop that in to the score. I assume Gareth Edwards is a fan.

I really love how much talk this movie is getting. I wasn't a huge fan of the story, but I think this was an example of a Director knowing what they wanted and knowing how to execute it. Everything from the acting, lighting, costume, set design, etc just blended beautifully. It's movies like this that actually ignite my passion for filmmaking. If it wasn't already clear... I recommend giving it a watch.
The art direction of this movie is amazing.
I've seen this movie twice in theaters already and I've recommended it basically to everyone I know. It sure has it flaws but the world building, visual effects, cinematography and soundtrack are flawless. Huge shoutout to Allison Janney and Madeleine Yuna Voyles for their top notch performances as well. I haven't enjoyed a sci-fi movie this much since Bladerunner 2049.
oh gosh... he literally shot with sony fx3... the story was a bit chaotic but the shots he captured were beautiful...

Why “oh gosh”? cameras are just tool and EG knows what he’s doing with it. Shoot with IMAX doesn’t come with great direction and script.
The fact that they shot on the Sony FX3, on comparatively very inexpensive tech, gimbals, simple dollies, etc. - that gives so much courage to small filmmakers. I love it so much.
This should be a lesson in film school how to make movie on decent budget. They shoot everything on location instead green screen and expensive VFX
No movie needs to have more than a $100 million budget. There's SO much grifting and skimming that goes on with these $300m+ budgeted films, you have no idea. All you have to do is look at "The Creator" and what this film looks like for $80m to understand that studios have zero excuses for over-budgeting some films the way they do. Of course, it also helped that Edwards didn't cast a major star as the lead.
@@redadamearthEric Idle was asked about big budgets and said something to the effect of "it's harder for certain people involved in the film to steal money if the film only has a small budget"
One of the best films I’ve seen in the past few years. The cinematography, lighting, visual effects, composition, score etc… we’re just amazing. It felt the closest to a film from the 1980’s that I’ve seen in a while.
its like Star Wars with a Mixed of Ghost in a Shell in a different Genre level , hands down to all the Crew and Director

It's no more or less than you can ask for these days.
And this one passed with flying colors.
A visual feast in almost every scene, an engaging story, compelling characters and not a wasted line of dialogue.

What an incredible film! I usually don’t like this type of film. But it turned out it has one of my favourite actresses from the series “MOM” as I was watching the very beginning of the film. it has so much empathy and emotion! And it’s not just about violence and killing. it is a master peices! Xx

i really loved the movie, but more i read about how much was cut from the story, the more i wonder if the artists that saw the rough cut, saw the better version of the story when more info was in it.

Saw this in IMAX and was blown away by the end of it. So insane what Gareth Edwards and the vfx team were able to do on this budget. So worth seeing in theaters. Will be buying this on 4k as soon as it drops.
