You can use sylvando to accelerate spell the whole group before prepping up to insure you attack the metal slimes first. This will reduce slimes running away because you attack first or sometimes Eric will attack twice before the slimes can run.
It's a toss up still because of damage rolls but its definitely a lot more repsectable than Pepping Rab. A lot less heartache if you just wait until rebuilding Cobblestone. But for me personally I just like a few levels so I definitely waded through the BS of trying to pep everyone naturally and then using the few pep pips I had for Jade
I did this method after I got to Battleground. Another decent way to at least kill the metal slimes, or give you more attack options, is I have the hero and sylvando learn Dual Wield and both equip 2 liquid metal swords. Use Critical Claim and Lightning Thrust with Erik and Jade, and Hero uses Sword Dance, hitting 5 times, and each hit doing 1-2dmg, and Sylvando use Metal Slash for 2 hits at 1-3dmg a hit. You could also use Hendrick with Dual Wield and A Cut Above with 2 liquid metal swords equipped. Although no point in switching to him cuz you might lose a slime to it running away lol
Right after you use Haulellujah and Electro Light, you can also use Rab's Dirge of Dundrasil to put the metal slimes to sleep (it actually has a very high success rate!) so you don't have to worry about them running away. I found this method on here: www.neoseeker.com/dragon-quest-xi/Exploring_a_New_Erdrea:_Part_4
My method is: 1. Have your party as Sylvando, Erik, Jade and Rab 1. Enter a battle with a Malicious Hammerhood, they're weak and don't run away, and keep defending. If you're playing the Definitive Edition, increasing the battle speed to Ultra Fast helps this go by faster. As each character becomes Pepped, immediately switch them out for another character we are not using (Serena, Veronica, and Hendrik). If these characters become Pepped, it doesn't matter; just keep them Defending as well until you have Sylvando, Jade, Erik, and Rab Pepped. When the last of those characters becomes Pepped, switch them out to the Hero and have him use Pep Up. You should now have the Hero, Sylvando, Jade, Erik, and Rab all Pepped. Finish the battle. This step can take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes depending on how long it takes for the characters to become Pepped. If you don't feel like doing it this way, you could always blow a Pep Pop to Pep everyone instantly, but I recommend hanging onto them. End the battle 2. Switch your lineup to include the following party after the battle: the Hero, Erik, Sylvando, and Jade. SAVE YOUR GAME at the Campsite. DO NOT enter any other battles between where you are and the campsite to play it safe. 3. Enter any battle after you save your game. Immediately have Jade use the Pep Power Haulellujah. 4. Swap Erik out for Rab. 5. Have the Hero use Pep Up. 6. Have Sylvando use a Pep Pip on Jade. The enemies will have their turn, so wait for them to finish. 7. On the next turn, have Jade use the Pep Power Electro Light. This will change the enemies to either a group of Metal enemies, or a group of killer robots. If you get the group of robots, you'll need to finish the battle quickly, return to the title screen, reload your save, and start again from Step 3. If you get the group of Metals, proceed. The group of Metal enemies you encounter will depend on your party's average Level. 8. Switch Sylvando out to Erik immediately after Electro Light is used. 9. Have Rab immediately use the Pep Power Dirge of Dundrasil. If the Hero acts before Rab, you can have him throw out a Sword Dance or Falcon Slash in the off chance he lands a Critical, but there isn't a lot he'll be able to do otherwise to help. The Hero simply needs to be in the active party in order to use the Pep Power. Dirge of Dundrasil will put all of the Metal enemies to sleep, making them ripe for the slaughter. It's possible that this will miss on some of them, in which case, you should take out the ones that do not fall asleep first and hope they do not flee. If any do not fall asleep and flee, you should end the battle, reload, and start from Step 3. This is unlikely to happen often. 10. Switch the Hero out to Hendrik so he can use Hatchet Man (or Serena if she has a Spear equipped and can use Thunder Thrust). From here, use Lightning Thrust, Critical Claim, and Hatchet Man (or Serena's Thunder Thrust) to take out the Metals one by one. DO NOT use any other attacks! You need to use Critical Hit-only attacks, lest you wake them up. If for some reason any wake up prematurely or you miss too many times and some flee, you will need to end the battle, reload, and start from Step 3. Like the above step, this is unlikely to happen often. I managed to get to level 99 really quickly with all of my characters with this method!
I figured out this technique when leveling against bloody hands. At first, I was just using Haulellujah at the start of the fight to take advantage their "summon ally" skill when Sylvando and Jade pepped and thought to myself: "Wait... There is that one pep skill I can use now!"
Once you get 110 Mini Medals for the complete journal, Max sells you Pep Pips for 10 medals. You can farm mini medals by stealing from Umbras in the Crypt of the Disciple's Trial.
For the first method, in the Champs Sauvage, around the northern camp, there're slimes that can multiply across the small bridge. I used them for farming. You don't need to heal, as they don't attack you, but you need to keep their number down. This will save you time so you don't have to look up healing in the menu everytime. The camp being next to you when you get the Hero, Jade, and Erik pepped up is great because you can go save, so you can save some time if the Hero, Jade, Sylvando Electro Light summons other monsters than the metal ones.
before post game grinding in dundrasil is the best thing to do as before mordegon there is normal metal slimes and then ur pep for liquid metals and after mordegon there is vicious liquid metal slimes and ur pep for two of them and a regular king slime during post game u want the manglegrove whale way station for the hardy hands
I found one way that might be useful. visit The First Forest, and find malicious sprite bulb monsters. prepare your characters including hero, erick, jade and selena. as many are taught by friends on other youtube pages. Use defense often, while serena using accelerate to increase character agility. Don't worry about your enemies, because malicious bulb sprites heal more often than attack. When hero, erick and jade pep-up, use "halelujah" so that the experience gained is greater. After that, go back to using the previous method, "defend and accelerate". If hero, silvando and jade pep-up again, use Electro Light with the hope that the enemy you get is metal slime.
I got 1,340,000 exp in one fight thanks to this method. A king metal slime showed up at the beginning and end with two liquid metal slimes. All died. It was glorious ... Try to use Sylvando to Accelerattle your group, that's all I've got to say.
@@laupao2595 The ability itself is called "Accelerattle", or something to that effect. Raises the agility of the group, and agility determines who goes first each turn.
Went from 50 to 60 with all party members in ~40 minutes just defending and getting pepped up that way. Don't see a reason to get 125k tokens per pep pip tbh
I don't grind for pips, I never have. I get Erik, Jade and Sylvando pepped just by waiting, and I can pep the Hero with his ability, and then after doing Hallelujah I will use a Pep Pip on Jade to re-pep her for Electro Light. All the pips I've ever used have been drops from the slimes themselves, so I only ever use one pip per fight and most of the time I get that one pip back as a drop anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It is just to give yourself an easy start. Chances are you have found some already by the time you are ready to try. All you need are a few since the process rewards you with more.
I know I'm late to the party but I'd love to see grotto's reintroduced to DQXI in DQ9 it gave you a reason to play after Corvus, I also feel like DQ9 was way harder than DQXI dont get me wrong I like both games but DQ9 will take the cake as my favorite forever.
If you go to level three of that trial and go outside, start attacking the jumping guys (the ones you can ride) and there's a high chance of seeing a king metal slime
just bought this game and got to act 3. thanks for the guide. i appreciate you providing multiple methods because i like to grind early and don't have all this end game gear or money
Thank you so much for this version, I have been looking for other methods cause I haven't beat mordegon yet and I was struggling as I have not been able to rebuild Cobblestone yet so the defend method immediately paid off when I got a king and two small metal slimes! Thank you very much
here's an update on my progres in lvl'ing with perfect kill of vicious metal king and 2x vicious liquid metal slime's. i hope this is helpfull for others ; getting exp from that particular monster combo is dependent on 2 things, 1st, its REGION DEPENDENT, since differend regions yield more or less exp from that same monster combo, and 2th ITS LVL DEPENDENT the higher my lvl is the more exp i get from that monster combo in same region, for example in dundrasil region (campsite) i got 333k exp beeing under lvl 60 now at lvl 72 i got several 100k more, while beeing at lvl 72 i got only 280k exp in Costa valor. i think im still early game story wise since i only unlock'd the flying whale option in story mode today, so for me dundrasil region yields the highest exp from the metal monster combo (i only took my results from all 3x monster kill successions.) (with right setup, and agilty increases this is rather easy since my ERIK mostly acts 2x before any monster can act), ok i hope this helps everyone together with ur amazing video
Which metal slimes appear is based on your level. If you're lvl 70+, you'll get the metal king slime and two metal bubble slimes. Also, if you pep up Jade the 2nd time with a pep pip, you'll get it back from the king slime's drop, so no need to farm pep pips. You only have to have the first one, which most people will have gotten a few by the time they get to the postgame. ALSO, pep up Rab beforehand and use Dirge of Dundrasil, you'll put them to sleep to lessen the chances of them running away. ALSO ALSO, Serena can use thunder lance, and character 8 can use Hatchet Man which both have a chance for critical hits (a little low, but better than nothing).
I would see this game in the PS store all the time and told myself I wouldn’t play it because of the cartoonish nature… And here I am 200 hours later. What an AMAZING game! Glad I was wrong. Thanks for this video btw…as someone playing in 2023 it was super helpful!
Just to be clear metal slimes are anywhere so you dont have to do this here, I recommend campsite zoom in for autosave reload if they ran away or robots comes out.
UPDATE 10/25/18 - I have this method working. 1) I go to Dundrasil Region (Campsite) and enter a battle with Main, Sylvando, Erik and Jade. You need to have Main, Erik and Jade Pepped to cast Haulellujah. Once they get Pepped I switch them out to the back line, if Syl get Pepped just switch him out and save him for the 2nd Pep ability. 2) Once these 3 are Pepped I go to the campsite and save the game. 3) After save you need to initiate a battle with the green dragon, you should be able to see one wandering around near the campsite, for me as long as I initiate with the green dragon I have gotten metal slimes everytime, about 5 tries now I think. 4) Initiate battle with dragon and cast Haulellujah, once that is cast now you need to Pep up Sylvando, Main and Jade to use Electric Parade which turns the mobs into metal slimes. So defend and heal until they are Pepped up. I switch them out once they get Pepped again and have Serena cast Acceleratle with Erik in group so he can act as fast as possible once I cast Electro Light and he should be able to crit 2 of the 3 slimes. I tried to add my notes on what I am doing, hope this helps some folks.
@@jensenkhemchandani7991 I don't know man, this was about a month ago when I was power leveling, I was getting (I think) about 75% metal slimes, they may have patched something since then?
@Sparka 😂😂😂. For the original poster of this post, if you wanna reach level 99 with all your characters in a day then read my post up top at the comments. Level 99 in one day. Save you the trouble of these tedious leveling tactics
If anyone has trouble with slimes fleeing you can also wait for rab to pep up to use dirge of dundrasil which has a hundred percent chance of sending every monster to sleep
sad thing is there is no reason to get the top armor or weapons or highest level in DQ11, cause you can beat the game at lv 65ish (post game) I did and after that there is nothing left to play for once you beat the last final boss. It would be nice if they added DLC so you can import ur save file and actually put those weapons levels and armor you grinded for to good use.
what i like to do is , hero , rab , sylvando and jade , and use the eletric light , and after i defended with both hero and jade and make sylvando , use electric light , after that its rabs turn and i use his pep skills that put even metal monsters to sleep so they dont run away , and if one is not sleep i target him first , but also dont forget to swap sylv for erik after using pep
I one time wasted an hour maxing casino tokens on the rigged machines to find out they’re fake. Probably why Puerto Valor’s is closed, they don’t want you abusing it. Anyway, I’m looking for level up and seeds because level 45 isn’t enough for Jasper Unbound. He’s half one-hitting everyone.
I see a lot of people going to Slime Island to do this. I take it it doesn't matter where you are or what enemy you fight, it has no impact on your chances of getting metal slimes with Electro Light?
someone in the comments mentioned where to find king metal slimes. They are rare pops in a few places. The final fortress in chapter two was the most common place I found them. I'm only a bit into chapter 3 so no idea there outside the pep powers.
I got 492,572 exp for killing 2 Metal King Slime and 1 Liquid Metal Slime. I encountered a Metal King Slime in the entrance of Fortress of Fear, I killed him first with Critical Claim, then I used Haulellujah. After that I waited for Jade to get pepped up again. Lucky that Sylvando is already pepped up so I just switched him in and used Electro Light. Another Metal King Slime and 2 Liquid Metal Slime showed up. I was able to kill the king and 1 liquid slime, the other ran away.
I shall not watch the video because I’m only in the beginning of act 2. But I will say that it is very easy to level up in Dragon Quest XI. I play this game on Nintendo Switch and I like to try to play it in both 3D and 2D, so when I switch from we say 2D to 3D I can choose the chapter I wanna play from, so if I want I can start the game from the beginning. The good thing is that I don’t lose my level or my equipment. (I only lose things that I need in the main story like the orbs or something like that) So I can play the main story again and again and get more and more experience points from enemies that I already have defeated before.
You don't need to be max level to beat the true final boss. I did it around level 60-65. The sword of light, like some other equipment in the game, can be used as an item. By using it in the final boss fight as such, you debuff Calasmos, making him much easier to defeat. P.S. Even at level 99, Calasmos is still rather OP if you don't debuff him. Much more possible, but still a nail biter.
@@kennysmith1819 lol I’m somewhere around that mark, but took a break for over a year now 😂 I’m sure there’s easily 100 more left in this never ending game
I spent 2 hours trying this on PS4 today. Only leveled up from 58 to 63. A lot times the second pep skill can not be used saying there was not enough space. Maybe I was just unlucky...
I prefer the Japanese voices because the dub made jade sound like some old woman and they made the Luminary make a sound that sounds like he took 5 hours to pull some thing out
Do I have to be a certain level to make the Metal King Slime appear when I use Electro Light? Also great and helpful video! I don't understand why there's some comments on here complaining.
i Don't know about level thing but when i tried to use electro light other places only small slime appear but i found in the trial isle - the luminary trial which is (post game) metal king slime appear most of time also some time you found it luminary trial randomly with other monster it spawning with them -SD
Best method hands down I'll tell you here an now. I was playing enemies really hard on draconian settings among other draconian settings and when i arrived at the Mangelgrove whale weigh station i was around level 40. In 2 days i was level 99 but could of did it in one long day. Unlock critical claim with Eric where you ALWAYS land a critical hit or use characters with metal slashing abilities, but NOTHING compares to critical claim. Anyway with every fight you can get around 5 thousand experience anyway but 4 outta 10 times you'll geta hardy hand enemy. If you have meteorite bracelet it's 100 percent guaranteed you won't fail because you equip Eric with it an he goes before hardy hand. Use critical claim on hardy hand. Then with the hero, jade an Eric and your fourth person just keep defending until those three characters pep up. If one character peps up before the other tag them out with someone else. Once Eric jade an the hero are pepped up tag them all back in an use hallejuya pep power, or however you spell it. You'll get around 100,000 exp ever time. You come across hardy hand WAYYY more often then king metal slime so my advice is whale weigh station manglegrove. When you keep defending until they are pepped up only keep one enemy alive usually a zombie or a red hand. If it's a zombie have your 4th ally be rab so he can cure poison an curse while your waiting to be pepped. If it's red hand Then I'd recommend hendrick because if the hand summons a statue you can dispose of it and keep defending until pepped up. I'm at level 99 with all characters and have moved on to assassins creed now but i wouldn't be done if not for that method. Last tip, be careful using serena if you have the perc echo. Shecan kill the statueand if she cast the spell twice she will kill the last remaining hand before your team is pepped up. I haven't watched this vid so if this method is mentioned here listen to the man, it's the best way an I'm an example of it as I'm level 99 with my characters in 2 days.
@@m0eni592 last boss calm??? I don't... I don't know what you mean. If you have the flying whale then i guess I'll repeat myself. You haven't "looked" hard enough. Killing machines every single time. I hate electro light so much. Also, I went to that area in the luminary trial and I am getting little gremlin guys in that spot and not gryphons.
I beat every trial at around level 70 and the final boss Calamos at lv 80 so I don't understand. Are you referring to if I was playing on Draconian mode?
The only real reason to level all your characters to 99 is if you want to try for the platinum trophy since you get a trophy per character you max out, and since they're the most time consuming trophies to get there are grind methods like this that make it just a bit faster than if you went to fight regular enemies or even if you sometimes got metals to spawn naturally. I'm at a point where I need to grind because I ended up in the post game terribly under leveled. Like level 45
i have a silly question, Does the king slime only appear if you use hallelujah? Also, does it appear based on level or based on what monster and where you fight it. Like must it be specifically a Vicious war gryphon? Thanks in advance for any help.
As far as I know based on what I've read, it's mostly based on level. After getting around level 70 it'll be a decent chance to see one. Also, the number of enemies before electrolight is used doesn't affect how many metal enemies show up. It's always 3 metal enemies. Also, if you're doing the defend method, it's good to use that method against multiple small enemies that aren't a threat, as getting attacked multiple times increases the chance for naturally pepping up.
when you use hallelujah pep power it increase you chance for gold and xp and item and yes its based on your luck when you use electro light pep power king slime appear or some time robot appear but i found in the luminary trial it appear most of time also some time you found it luminary trial randomly with other monster it spawning with them and can do this method on any monster and anywhere i used on gryphon because he does not use any spell on you to make you confuse ,or make you sleep or other spell that why i chosen gryphon - SD
Literally all you need is Electro Light in Manglegrove wayfare station and farming both Hardy hands and electrolight there. You can use Hallelujah but I really just- like- didn't...
I spent two hours getting them pepped up and all the metal slimes ran away before I could do anything, this happened four more times. That method is trash.
@@spacious3544 you autosave before you use your pep-ups. Also, have Serena (your highest magical mending) heal before you enter the battle if you had to go back to your autosave.
Also, if you have your party with the right build (i.e. good enough to wipe the hordes of bloody hands with stuff link pink storm or gigaslash and have happy hats), then you still get over 6k exp per normal battle and with super fast speed, you do a good constant levelup. I did this strategy and I got level 99 in a couple days (I couldn't sit and farm for a whole day, but if I did, it would probably take 1 day's work.. nothing as bad as DQIX's farming)

@@lukefonfabre2 I've only played 2 other DQ games and frankly, they were faster and much less tedious . you needed only walk around until you see a metal slime on the field and gun for it asap. now you need to be wasting 5-10 minutes peping up TWICE to use a move to buff exp gain and then a move to summon them which may not work. in DQ 8, i think there is a spot where ONLY metal slime spawn. i think you needed to fly there i can't remember. i haven't played since it released on the ps2.

Have done this first method 4 times now & every single time all metal slimes have run away. At 20mins + per fight it’s just too long with, in my experience, zero reward. It needs a spell to stop enemies fleeing. Thanks for the tip but it just doesn’t work for me
If you didn't figure it out before and if you ever want to go back and try again, pep up Rab beforehand and have him use Dirge of Dundrasil on the metal slimes. My method is:
1. Have your party as Sylvando, Erik, Jade and Rab
1. End the battle

The first method seems like it takes a lot of time to set up (and it does), but it absolutely pays off. Great job!
before post game grinding in dundrasil is the best thing to do as before mordegon there is normal metal slimes and then ur pep for liquid metals and after mordegon there is vicious liquid metal slimes and ur pep for two of them and a regular king slime during post game u want the manglegrove whale way station for the hardy hands
How is this different at all lmao dumbass
I got 1,340,000 exp in one fight thanks to this method. A king metal slime showed up at the beginning and end with two liquid metal slimes. All died. It was glorious ...
Try to use Sylvando to Accelerattle your group, that's all I've got to say.
How to accelerate using sylvando?
@@laupao2595 The ability itself is called "Accelerattle", or something to that effect. Raises the agility of the group, and agility determines who goes first each turn.
@@Rajyrr thank you very much. I just started playing.
Great guide. Got all my characters to 99 and am ready to wipe out the post game.

here's an update on my progres in lvl'ing with perfect kill of vicious metal king and 2x vicious liquid metal slime's. i hope this is helpfull for others ; getting exp from that particular monster combo is dependent on 2 things, 1st, its REGION DEPENDENT, since differend regions yield more or less exp from that same monster combo, and 2th ITS LVL DEPENDENT the higher my lvl is the more exp i get from that monster combo in same region, for example in dundrasil region (campsite) i got 333k exp beeing under lvl 60 now at lvl 72 i got several 100k more, while beeing at lvl 72 i got only 280k exp in Costa valor. i think im still early game story wise since i only unlock'd the flying whale option in story mode today, so for me dundrasil region yields the highest exp from the metal monster combo (i only took my results from all 3x monster kill successions.) (with right setup, and agilty increases this is rather easy since my ERIK mostly acts 2x before any monster can act), ok i hope this helps everyone together with ur amazing video
I would see this game in the PS store all the time and told myself I wouldn’t play it because of the cartoonish nature…

Best guide I've seen on UA-cam, thank you very much ;)
UPDATE 10/25/18 - I have this method working.

Thanks for the tips! 🤘
sad thing is there is no reason to get the top armor or weapons or highest level in DQ11, cause you can beat the game at lv 65ish (post game) I did and after that there is nothing left to play for once you beat the last final boss. It would be nice if they added DLC so you can import ur save file and actually put those weapons levels and armor you grinded for to good use.
Which final boss did you beat?
Switch version has extra bosses so now its not pointless to reach lvl 99. also lvl 99 makes the trial bosses easier to win
what i like to do is , hero , rab , sylvando and jade , and use the eletric light , and after i defended with both hero and jade and make sylvando , use electric light , after that its rabs turn and i use his pep skills that put even metal monsters to sleep so they dont run away , and if one is not sleep i target him first , but also dont forget to swap sylv for erik after using pep
So the usual meta of "hunt metal slimes" :D
And hit them as often and as critical as you can.
Really thorough video. Thanks for all the work you put in!
Most complete video on this matter, congrats and gj
I see a lot of people going to Slime Island to do this. I take it it doesn't matter where you are or what enemy you fight, it has no impact on your chances of getting metal slimes with Electro Light?
someone in the comments mentioned where to find king metal slimes. They are rare pops in a few places. The final fortress in chapter two was the most common place I found them. I'm only a bit into chapter 3 so no idea there outside the pep powers.
Great video, thanks a lot!
Much more possible, but still a nail biter.
calasmos is not the final final boss
final boss is time wyrm not calasmos
You can use Jade's Multithrust with a liquid metal spear, she don't miss any hit

Kinda think you have to be around lvl 50ish. Don't worry the number of metal slimes come out will always be the same.
Start popping me constantly about lvl 70
Before level 70 you get 1 liquid metal and 2 normal metals. After level 70 you get 1 metal king and 2 liquids
Does just the hero have to be level 70 or do all 8 of the characters?
very nice video man but ya don't forget about using acceletle with either serena or sylvando going forward
Metal hands in the jungle is probly the best using few pep skills i think my best was 1 mil exp or so
So what skills are needed to learn the Pep Power Halleluiah?

Are you referring to if I was playing on Draconian mode?
Just over all. Its good to lvl to 99 and just focus on farming seeds. That way you break your own PR
Why did you choose that gryphon?
i have a silly question, Does the king slime only appear if you use hallelujah?

@@spacious3544 you autosave before you use your pep-ups. Also, have Serena (your highest magical mending) heal before you enter the battle if you had to go back to your autosave.

If you didn't figure it out before and if you ever want to go back and try again, pep up Rab beforehand and have him use Dirge of Dundrasil on the metal slimes.
