Sir i have a question : if a patient came to the optical shop and he isn't sure that he is wearing progressive lens, and i want to check his prescription on the digital lensometer , what's the trick to know that his lens is progressive not spherical on digital lensometer ? I will try to make my question simplier : Sir you already know that u was holding a progressive lens so u put ur lens on the digital lensometer and u calibrated to progressive lens . In case u was holding a lens and you dont know if it is progressive or spherical how can u know on the lensometer???thank u😊
It's quite simple..put (any) lens in your hand and move up and down or left or right.. If it is spherical it will give with movement in case of minus sph and against movement in case of plus sph lens. In case of cyl lens the lens will give rotatory movement while moving the lens. And if progressive is there..move the lens closer to the eye and move left or right and keep your eye at bottom of the lens and if it progressive lens you will observe that only movement will be there in central area ( corridor area) and in periphery there will be no any movement. I hope it's clear
