A week later when i came to the farm there was thousands of bee flying everywhere i want threw it and they didn't try to sting me they moved away and the person in charge told me its because their waiting for the new queen bee. Ever since then my number one favorite insect are bees they are awesome.

    Been beekeeping here in Florida for a little over a decade and a few years when I lived in Tennessee and one of the most interesting and fascinating aspects or traits about the Africanized Killer bee is that people don’t know that it is a Hybrid bee that has only been around since the 1950s when a Brazilian beekeeper tried breeding European honey bees with their africanized cousin to see if they could ramp up honey production. Creating what we all know today to be the dangerous and aggressive “Killer Bee”
    What is most fascinating about this situation is that 50 years after the hybrid bee was created, those bees EVOLVED a trait that should have taken thousands or even millions years to develop. Where the queen bee of the africanized species will hatch one day faster than European queens. Scientists have observed this trait and concluded that they do this so they can hunt down and kill the European queen still in here queen cup. I probably should have mentioned how they infiltrate.
    What happens is that africanized workers will camouflage themselves with pheromones and enter the European hive undetected. Usually a group of them. Then they go to work on building a queen cell covertly while there still is a queen in the hive, Once the egg is laid they will attack and kill the queen, forcing the colony to start building a queen cup, which may take a day or two to complete before they can lay the queen egg and seal the cell. Effectively giving the africanized queen a few days head start just in case she has problems finding the European queen cup so she can assassinate her where she lays. This is why africanized bees are so prolific and why keepers must monitor “mean colonies”. Because if they get too aggressive you must re-queen the hive yourself. Where you open up the hive, find the queen and kill her. You then introduce a docile queen raised by any number of queen rearing companies around the US, or yourself if you do that sorta thing, they will send you her in a little hollow piece of wood with a screen on both sides and a hole in one end corked with sugar. You put the queen inside the hive and see if they accept her. If they do they will help her get out of the cage by eating the sugar cork from the other side. She will then get to work laying docile bee eggs that will EVENTUALLY calm the hive so you can work on them without bother.
    But sometimes a colony just wont like their new queen and will kill her once she emerges from her cage. Then you gotta start the process all over again while inspecting the hive for new queen cups. Which you MUST destroy lest you get another africanized queen that will keep the bees aggressive and mean. There are little finessing steps between all I just described but that was the broad strokes of it all. Now lets watch the video and see if they touch on any of this important information. :).
    If anyone wants to know what makes the killer bees so aggressive you must simply look at their environment in Africa. It has to do with their climate and honey production. And because of this, some beekeepers believe africanized Killer bees may just calm themselves naturally over the next i dunno, thousand years lol.. But they could surprise us and do what they did with developing the queen hatching trait and become docile in maybe a hundred years or so lol.. The theory being that they will get used to the climate in the Americas and Europe which have harsher winters, which African bees don’t experience often. Which is why African bees in Africa make a significantly less amount of honey than their European counterparts. Because of this, they protect their honey stores with deadly aggression. See the reason why European bees are so docile is because they make almost twice as much honey than they need to get through a winter. Which means they could go through two winters without gathering any food stores. Winter is why most honey bees make and store honey in such large amounts in the first place. When you open up a European hive and they are having a bad day they’ll send maybe less than 10% of their hive to investigate and attack if need be. But because African hives don’t experience harsh winters they make significantly less honey and protect it like it’s the last food they’ll ever have. Its why they send out more than half their colony to attack. So if anyone asks you why africanized bees are so mean you can tell them it has to do with how much honey they make, or don’t make, and their climate back in Africa. Now, let’s see if any of this information is in the vidya!

      @desertegle40cal 2 роки тому +4

      @@areaxisthegurkha yeah parts of Arizona and New Mexico for a while had Africanized Killer bee colonies exploding to incredible numbers because of those traits I just named. There are countless wild bee colonies all over the United States ripe for invasion by AKBs. Just ask any live bee removal company in any of the southern states and they’ll tell ya how prolific they are. I myself used to help a buddy who had his own pest company who did live bee removals and just in the 3 months I worked with him over the summer we got calls every other day to do removals. Usually regular European honey bees, sometimes just ground hornets or yellow jackets. For which we’d destroy. Especially the southern yellow jacket which can build “mega hives” because they incorporate dozens of queens that all build together. One giant yellow jacket nest found in Ocala florida swallowed an entire Volkswagen to the point you could only see its tires and they estimated it had dozens, maybe hundreds of queens in the colony. Bee colonies can only get so big before the work gets to be too much for the queen and they must “swarm” or split the hive and the old queen with go start another colony/hive somewhere else.

    That's sad about the wolves... they're more likely to fall apart when humans are involved in the alpha's death because a gun shot is sudden and unexpected and the sheer surprise of seeing they're leader shot down out of nowhere + plus the sound, likely traumatized to wolfs a little, it's tough to wanna step up to the lead when that's how quickly you could die, wolfs are intelligent creatures.
    Where as with natural causes it's usually something wolves can sense/smell when their alphas health is failing, and with other animal caused deaths they've been accustomed to the danger of the hunt as long as the species has been hunting. Basically gunshots rob them of the rite of passage.

    You don’t have to use poison to kill a beehive. If it’s in a wall or something that’s one thing. If you have a hive in a box that gets super “hot” as in you don’t even want those drones(male honeybee) passing on their genetics, you can just seal the whole hive in a black plastic bag for several days and they will overheat and die.
    Many times if the hive is just a little spicy, you can just replace the queen and within 6-8 weeks the whole population will be from the new gentler queen.

    I've been stung several times by bees wasps and something no one recognised and I'm fearful of stingers but my friend hasn't ever been stung and she acts like a maniac whenever a stinger buzzes nearby, odd isn't it?

      As a child I had an irrational and crippling fear of bees, wasps, hornets, and all "big" stinging insects. It was so bad I would either faint on the spot or run for dear life at the slightest buzz.
      Took being stung a couple of times by a wasp to understand just how ridiculous my reaction was, but it sucked for sure.
      I still do get very nervous around hornets, especially bigger ones.
