1000% agreed! for recall, blue sky analogy is at 5:00---trekchod, Tibetan for cutting through would then be the cutting through the clouds into the eternal blue sky
'If we really explore the experience of peace, happiness and love, they are in fact windows onto our true nature. They're not really feelings; they are the nature of the blue sky, they are the nature of ourself.' One of his most important videos that I've seen!
Rupert’s ability to articulate these ideas so fluently is truly wonderful. I feel it is especially easy for westerners to digest these teachings when communicated in this way. This man is certainly here at an opportune time in history. Many people in the west will resonate with his style of communicating.
Whenever I listen to Rupert has has that capacity to connect so deeply at root level. There are no mental cobwebs left, only stunning clarity. Thank you so much.
All his videos is why I quoted him 3 times in my book. Such clarity. Just as great Mooji, Alan Watts, Eckhart Tolle, Thich Nhat Hanh, Sadhguru. All different ways of teaching, but all awesome.
Mooji is a great teacher, but his character - the cult-like nature of his ashram and the oft-reported preying upon young women by Mooji himself is disturbing. His UA-cam channel has comments disabled, and for good reason. There are stories upon stories of this online. I don’t know of any other guru that has such a collection of anecdotes from such a wide array of people warning about his ashram. Something seems definitely to be going on. It’s a shame, because as a teacher, he is so well articulated and warm. I hope this kindness finds its way into his daily life.

Great insight love peace and happiness Are not feelings or something that we experience but rather something that we are and that which emerge spontaneously in the absence of desires
3.03."it would be more accurate to say in what we essentially are there is no agitation, there is no sense of lack, there is no sense of othereness or separation.." I really prefer this kind of definition of our deep essence-nature than the positive one.
@inner light @Testa: You may prefer it (which is fine, of course) . . . but is it actually the whole truth (?) Spira is very, very good . . . but he's still advocating for a particular tradition. That tradition is also very, very good . . . but it's promoting a particular and limited understanding of essence-nature. This seems to me easy to demonstrate: consider Music. Surely your experience of the many POSITIVE varieties of musical experience are not satisfactorily understood by this "no agitation, no sense of lack" perspective. There ARE positive aspects of Music that arise from essence-nature . . . but it requires an entirely different exploration than Spira's to realize them. If you're not interested . . . and just want "no agitation, no sense of lack" in your life -- that's altogether reasonable and you absolutely can have that. But if you want the fuller, richer possibilities of essence-nature . . . then you need to cultivate them differently.

Dear Rupert, The mission is complete This is the second fact that awareness can know. It is an almighty mission by the one for the best conceivable reality for eternity in all conceivable directions for all beings (whether dead, alive, non-existent or infinite if so) at exactly halfway between age 75 and 76 for the one, along with the one living his best possible life until that point..KNOW it, you/your awareness can👍🙏
@Judy Atkinson: Yes, it's very clear. Spira is great in that respect. But clarity can also be misleading . . . if it emphasizes only a part of a greater whole.
They might not be feelings per se, but they 'hold'/embody emotional content, rich and profound feeling-content.. (joy is a Feeling! :) ). Beingness-feelings rather than emotions around our own separate self'
@Giulian Bates: Yes. Spira's Advaita Vedanta perspective excludes the possibility of our True Nature having essential qualities other than awareness. Sufism, for example, is a tradition that disagrees with him . . .
@@QED_ But he says he's a 'closer sufi'. :) I think whatever one has realised, in my experience, teachers are all limited and still have stock points-of-view, do't use language with complete awareness. Everything in this world, including spiritual teachers, have their pros and their limitations :)

Everything about the illusions such as life and living are with the mind. You are Consciousness first before you assume a mind posture. Stick with the mind and you will never be in peace. Problem is the mind won't let you alone until you have lived it out. You are living your mind as a separate self and a universe attached to it. The unceasingly streaming Karmma has the final say. Be afraid of it or the whirlpool will become thicker and stronger as the stream keeps going.
The essential nature (God) is not without characteristics. It is filled with absolut love and wisdom. It has absolutely free will and can reveal or hide It Self as it pleases. Our lower nature can be clouded, not our source. Our lower nature is not just awareness. It also has free will. We are primarely conscious agents with free will connected to a gross body.
That's a great question! I think the answer is that our true nature, and I mean true, is peace - a state that has no requirement that anything be different from how and what it is. The negative stuff always wants something to be different. The Buddhists call our true nature Buddha nature, and it's nice to know that when you scrub away the gunk of negativity through the practice of silent meditation, it's there to be enjoyed.
Did not really address the object subject relationship.A little misleading title, as he spoke mainly about the nature of Self.(Subject). feelings are of course as all else are subjects.

3:23 This is a limitation of Spira's Advaita Vedanta perspective. Sufism, for example, doesn't agree with him at all. Spira should know better from his familiarity with the Gurdjieff Work. Spira is doing a brilliant job of teaching realization of the "Higher Intellectual Center". But he's not only ignoring realization of the positive emotions of the "Higher Emotional Center" . . . he's altogether denying their existence as aspects of our True Nature.
I understand that Rupert studied in the Gurdjeiff work for 20 years. I heard him speak about this brilliantly at one of his retreats. I was very interested as I studied with a Gurdjeiff group for a time myself. If I can find the recording of this talk I will post a link here. Also, having worked with a Sufi teacher for over 30 years, I think if you read the teachings of the great Sufi teacher, Ibn Arabi, you will find perfect congruence with Ruperts teachings. Check out Ibn Arabi’s small book entitled “Know Yourself”. 💗
