Between 1825 and 1930, approximately three million Scandinavians emigrated, over 95 percent of which moved to the United States. It is estimated that this group comprised 1.2 million Swedes, 850,000 Norwegians, and 300,000 Danes. Between 1864-1914 well over 300,000 Finns made their homes in the USA and another 20,000 across the border in Canada. The Finnish emigrants to America originated mainly from western Finland.
Finland and Sweden share a long history, similar legal systems, and an economic and social model. Finland was part of Sweden for almost 700 years from around 1150 until the Finnish War of 1809 after which Finland became an autonomous part of the Russian Empire as the Grand Duchy of Finland.
Finland is not Scandinavia, but it's a Nordic country, just like Iceland and the Faroes islands.
What about before 1809? Was only half of Sweden "Scandinavian" then?

Such a dumb video, really. The source material, I mean. Sweden has the biggest landmass out of all the Nordic countries, and also the most land in the more temperate zone of Scandinavia. Of course it has a larger population that the rest - there is more space to live in, and more place to grow crops.
And yea, Finland is not scandinavian - even if they share history with Sweden. Their culture is different.

@@herrbonk3635 Sure, however it is not the "original" culture of Finland, the traditions they have today come mainly from Sweden, but they also have way older stuff than that. The older stuff is not Scandinavian in origin, and as such is considered Finnish.
"Norway produced seafaring Vikings" no all the Scandinavians were seafaring and way before the Viking age , Vikings mixed with people from Finland as well as other countries but Vikings didn't originate from Finland, why does some people insist to make a video about other countries facts without knowing the facts ? why does Sweden have a much bigger population ? it's not about the fact Sweden is bigger as most people live in the bigger cities anyway they don't spread out much , same in Denmark and Norway, it's not like we don't have space in Denmark, more than 60% of the country is only agriculture and all the people live in about 20-25% of the area so we could have more, and once we did have a bigger population and country as the southern part of Sweden Skåne, Halland and Blekinge was Denmark, and Schleswig-Holstein where most of it today is part of Germany it was once Denmark , so basically ethnic Danes are now living in Sweden and Germany , these parts was lot in war , a part of the population of Norway spread to Iceland and the faroe Islands and Greenland that was lost to Denmark , Iceland became independent but if you count the population of these areas Norway would have a larger population although not much , war happens borders change and he completely left that out and focused on how big the countries are today , it's not like any population ever thought we have less space so we will produce more children

Sweden has a different culture and political approach because of their cultural background. Their culture often involves "burying their head in the sand" when problems arise. This attitude is reflected both in the people and in their politics. As a result, Sweden has taken in many refugees, partly to appear more popular. They try hard to be liked by everyone, but at the same time, they can come across as the irritating little brother seeking attention from their neighbors. It seems that their large refugee intake was designed to make them appear better and more progressive than their neighboring countries, as this matters a lot to them - something the other Scandinavian countries don’t focus on as much.
The language difference also plays a role in communication between Swedes and their neighbors, as Denmark, Norway, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland share a mutually intelligible language, where Norwegian and Danish are the dominant elements. This has created communication challenges, and conversations with Swedes often need to take place in English.
A common joke is that Swedes can actually understand a lot of Norwegian and Danish, but like the French, they often pretend not to, because they want to be seen as superior. Meanwhile, they watch the other Scandinavian countries communicate effortlessly in their own shared language across their borders. This attitude sometimes makes interactions feel more difficult than they need to be, with Swedes often defaulting to English, while the other countries can manage just fine with their mutually intelligible languages.
In recent years, Sweden's population has increased, with up to 40% of the people having foreign backgrounds. The birth rate within this new population is so high that, in relatively few years, this group will make up the majority of Sweden’s population, and native Swedes will become less visible and have less influence. Local unrest has already emerged, causing many Swedes to flee certain areas - some even leaving for Norway and Denmark. Those who remain tend to have fewer children, partly due to the growing challenges within the country and the difficulty of maintaining their culture in the face of these issues. As a result, the "new" Swedish population will likely continue to grow significantly.
In the future, Sweden could see an even larger demographic shift, perhaps even adopting a new flag to reflect the wishes of this new population. Sweden has the space for expansion, and it’s not unthinkable that the country could have a population of around 23 million later this century. It will be interesting to follow.
