Rewatching this, can we talk about the absolute god tier writing? Mahito screaming back at Yuji, all the dialogues after, the phenomenal environment battles from claustrophobia to elevator to Mahito's disgusting way of fighting etc. If not for the use of narrator overexplaining and repeating things, S2's writing is off the charts (the ceiling of battle shonen). The more I rewatch the more it immensely pains me that MAPPA couldn't give the animators more time, to have more polished episodes, to storyboard the narrator out like S1 etc. Its a generational battle shonen that will be marred forever.
Looking back at this episode and how the current manga chapters is going, Gege might try to pull off an Akame Ga Kill on us one day, killing every single character except for one like only leaving Shoko or Utahime alive or something.
