Love the window in the coffin. I never had a truck with it but I would have liked to look at my trailer a few times without having to walk around in my boxers. I had to watch this again after seeing how fantastic this truck is finished. I want to get in and head out over the road again!
I sort of fell down a YT rabbit hole on "chrome shop" channels. I of course having worked in chrome shops my whole life know how to plate chrome... Just busting your chops a little bit, looks like cool work you guys do on these trucks & I know you appreciate your electroplaters. 😂
Man i would love to do that type of work for a living. I drove them for years and got outta the business but would love to do rebuilding them for a living.
that we know of this could be the first on a peterbilt. but that being said over the years it is likely someone has done it but we havent found any out there. jones hoods offers hoods like this for kenworths but not for peterbilts so we decided to build our own.
we were going to switch to a cat but it was wired for n14 and we didnt have a donor truck to steal all the wiring and other things from. if you have to buy all that stuff new it gets crazy expensive so we just replaced with a pre elog n14
I have a question for you guys, when you guys cut and buff after painting is there any good ways to wetsand and buff around the rivets without buffing the paint off?
its a 10.5" Darwin which is basically equal to a 14.5 regular visor. This visor is on our website for purchase ill leave the link . mcdonaldchromeshop.com/collections/drop-visors/products/ultracab-and-flat-top-post-mount-darwin-visors?variant=31910896533582
we have had good luck with them. honestly lincoln is the best on the market for quality, but over all the years we only needed to warrenty 1 trux set and that guy would never wash his truck even in the winter with all the brine they put on the roads up here in iowa. so in our opinion not the companies fault.
Edde works for us at the shop, he does most of the painting these days. he has a tiktok he puts some clips on @user91166172miguel or our tiktok @mcdonaldchromeshop. Our instagram is the same not sure if he does that or not also
McDonald Chrome Shop thanks for the info, tel Miguel he is an amazing painter, and if he decide to set up a FB or IG I’m a follow! Unfortunately I don’t use tiktok! God bless!
all depends on what you're starting with. in this case this truck needed a new motor for starters so we decided to buy one that was from pre 2000 so it could be elog exempt and have a full out of frame overhaul done on it before we got started on the rest of the truck. from there updating to the 2016 front axle and rear cut off with disk brakes with around 190,000 miles on them total from factory, to all the exterior work and interior work the price tag we had on this truck was right around $120,000. The customer who purchased this truck needed a few things done to suit his needs so we changed a few things for him such as 5th wheel location, lift bumper and a few other things. This truck is now on the east coast hauling cars.
Man thats alot if very expensive green paint yaw sprayed on that truck not including whatever yaw spent on paint for the rest of the colors. I know for sure that green aint cheap because i painting a 55 chevy panel truck and the paint alone was 1500.00
didnt know you could have a truck aids? but thanks for your opinion. 99% of people that have seen this truck love it. we wanted to do something different
everyone has their own taste its not for everyone. But honestly you're the first person on the internet who's seen it thats said they don't like it. To be honest we wanted to try it, didn't know how it would look or go over but everyone who's seen it likes it. present company excluded lol. not everything on every truck people like so we tried something new. we like it so thats all that matters . thanks for watching though. should have the final video on this build completed in a few weeks finishing things up now.
I feel ya but like I said I love the truck I’m just not a fan of the hood scoop, I’m kinda ol school when it comes to 379, 389,359 and the w900l but everybody has there own taste , but it’s definitely a bad ass truck so don’t take my comment as hating or putting it down I was only voicing my opinion bro but keep up the good work you definitely did a excellent job on the build
Lol the trucks not done. When it is complete we will go through the truck and explain and show not only what we did but what products we used. Just like our previous projects. There are multiple other videos of this truck earlier in the restoration process on our channel.
@@McDonaldChromeShop then why not do it all in one shot, start to finish? It's confusing and not very professional. It seems like your using this truck to advertise your parts, maybe I'm wrong and don't know much about your chanel , but from somebody coming here for the first time, it sux
@BigTymin yes we do this as a business. Not a hobby. We have built trucks for over 20 years. We take the time to film our builds and edit it to get more eyes on the trucks we are building to sell and if the viewer likes any of the parts we use they can use us as their parts dealer or any other dealer out there. And it's worked. We havent had a truck we have featured on our channel last over 5 days before its sold which was the business side of what we took the time and money for to do the filming. That being said we try to put out videos people like and enjoy the content. So yes we put up videos to promote products and trucks. If you watched other builds on our channel we always show the truck and parts in the final video. We are not going to go around the truck in extensive detail when its half built and when on UA-cam you need to add videos very regular or they dont promote your channel. All you need to do is go to a playlist on basically anyone's channel to see entire series of videos on the subjects they are filming. In our case we have playlists for each project we build.
everyone has an opinion. the vast majority of people loved the way it turned out and this truck sold only days after completion, we wanted to do something we had never seen on a peterbilt so we made this hood. good news is if anyone who didnt like it could simply not buy the truck. problem solved.
That truck turned out just Badass! Just as most you build do. Almost makes me want to start driving again....
thanks a lot

Nice build. What size is the visor? I've been contemplating a reverse bowtie and that looks good.

What color of green is that. Its beautiful on that pete
its called camaro green. same color used on the newer green camaros
How do the Trux exhaust hold up? I've gotten mixed reviews on them.

Congratulations on a job well done! The truck turned out beautiful. Is this a customers truck or is it one you have for sale?
This truck will be for sale soon
How much would a project like this would cost? Asking bc I have a 91 Pete 379 that I would like to get some work done! Thanks.
depends on the body work needed and accessories wanted
muito lindo parabéns?
Should've started with the frame business.
Nice 👍 how it cost to paint a semi?
mostly depends on body prep needed. small factor is cost of the actual paint. mostly depends on the prep for costs
