    I'm 42 years old. Never done a hard day's graft... Bought a house to renovate and I've gone power tool mad. Picked one of these up, and excited to use it! Building a nice collection of 18v Bosch Pro tools!
    Thanks for the video, from a complete novice :)

      @@outhouse_byhandI'm loving it, though both the wife and I was beginning to question our decision as soon as we walked in and saw the state of the place, but is now committed!
      Made steady progress but keep finding quirky little things to tackle!
      Any advice for a married couple on renovating a house? Haha

    Nice review. Nice to see how light it is (in a good way). I've the GCM 350-254 110v and it weighs as much as half of a horse.
    Also nice to see more independant Bosch review videos on UA-cam in English.

    Comment for Bosch in case they monitor their reviews: You guys have a wonderful Bluetooth module system, and an 18V dust extractor. Please update the dust extractor with Bluetooth, and expand the functionality to include remote triggering, so it can be used with an 18v mitre saw, in much the same way as a wired tool can trigger a wired dust extractor. This seems like an absolute no brainer. You guys would be envy of the market, if you just put this bluetooth stuff to some good use.

      @@harrydunn1186 just looked it up, yes that’s what Bosch need to implement! The amount of times I’ve ran my plunge saw or mitre saw and forgotten to press the button on my extraction 😫😂

      @@outhouse_byhand i do like Bosch professional tools, I personally own many of them for my work as as a carpenter, and the same dust extractor, good build quality and reliability, and a fantastic after sales parts catalogue meaning you can replace parts down to the nearest screw on most tools, but yes I do think the connectivity feature would be better if it could control and automatically trigger the dust extractor, I believe festool, DeWalt, Makita and Milwaukee to name a few have already implemented this feature and Bosch now need to match this to effectively compete with these other brands. The amount of times I've run the tool and forgotten to switch on the extractor have been a few, having it to be automated by Bluetooth when you run the tool would be the answer.

    Do you get descent cuts with this saw? I just bought the GCM 800 SJ and find it impossible to get a straight or smooth cut. There is too much flex in the aluminium housing between the motor and the pivot point. The blade finds its own way through the wood.

    • @outhouse_byhand
      @outhouse_byhand  2 роки тому

      I’ve used it a fair bit now and the cuts are spot on and smooth, may be a combination or a higher spec machine and the expert blade. I’ve had my larger mains powered machine and I reset all the angles recently as I’d knocked it a few times now it cuts straight and true. Have you tweaked all the fine adjustments or is it the body flexing that’s causing the issues?

    • @kiwigrunt330
      @kiwigrunt330 2 роки тому

      @@outhouse_byhand Thanks for your reply. I've tweaked all the adjustments. I've tried four different blades on it. All four work perfectly in my old Dewalt DW700 (Elu PS174). All work equally poorly in this Bosch. I am pretty sure it is the body flexing. I asked you because yours has the same body and the same amount of flex. I had a play with all these 216 models at the shop. If you lock the saw/motor in the down position and push sideways against the blade, you can see the motor moving up and down quite a bit. I'm trying very hard to like the saw, but it needs to cut straight.

    I wonder if Bosch feel like they got good value out of this, given it was recorded in the dark.

    • @outhouse_byhand
      @outhouse_byhand  2 роки тому +1

      You appear to have watched and raised a great point about the Bluetooth so I’d say that’s great value for Bosch to find out what users really want

      @dexarok 2 роки тому +2

      @@outhouse_byhand As much as I appreciate your positive comment about my suggestion, it comes from being heavily invested in Bosch's 18v platform, and looking to buy a mitre saw to add to it, rather than reacting to what I saw here. Your video lighting and colour grading is artistic and moody, but doesn't really help people see what they're hoping to buy, as clearly as possible.

    "...I'm really impressed with the dust collection..." as he cuts with a mask on lmao. Also throw that stupid material clamp away. No pro uses those. I always throw mine straight in the garbage

      Haha welcome to England where health and safety is key 😉 but normally I probably wouldn’t wear it. Yes I rarely use the material clamp but it’s god practice for a newcomer rather than getting their hands too near the blade. Awesome saw though, can’t fault it. Have you got the 18v saw?
