We loved your candid review of Bocas based on your family’s experience there👍🏻 it was so nice to have met you all last Sunday also. Hope to get to know you all better in the future 😊👌🏻
You most likely experienced the bioluminescent plankton event that only happens every few years, with some years being more prevalent than others. Its quite a treat to witness! I have only ever experienced it once in all my years going to Bocas. Also, just some insights- if you stay in Bocas for any length of time (more than a few weeks), your body will acclimate to both the humidity, after which it wont feel so hot, and also to the no-see-ums (chitras). Something about the "flavor" of your blood changes that makes you less desirable to them after a certain point. You'll still get the random bites, but it wont be as severe. Also, keeping the air flowing with fans and ceiling fans can also help. And the little lizards are actually geckos. They are your friends! they love those insects, and they are completely harmless to you, aside from the occasional jump scare. I know the Big Bight area well, and it is an amazing place. Hope you enjoy(ed) your stay!

Bocas...a very rural place to be...for me its a place to trip....
Look into the Panama Relocation tours videos, maybe you will find a more family friendly town in Panama :).
