I look after my mother who is 102 this month all by myself. I only give her Ayurvedic things whenever necessary, no meds she is a wonderful health. For her age incredible not even incontinent. Of course she eats like a bird. We are also immigrants, so we have the benefit of information from the sages of Asia❤
I use these from my childhood of the 50's; Cure-all (Chicken soup), Sore Throat (Lemon & Honey), Upset stomach (ginger ale and/or stewed tomatoes), Congestion (Vicks)
love Zoya's home remedy of fluffy socks and watching The Mindy Project! I'm a doctor and I love helping people get well and stay well. There is corruption in everything but most doctors really care for their patients!
All this talking over each other is VERY DISCORDANT. It will make me want to vomit if I watch the whole thing - which I am NOT going to do now, I am turning it off midway and going to see something more calming than a dysfunctional family run by a totally overbearing mother. Ugh!
@@cgordon1955 Seems you aren't from this side of the pond, Asia in general. Most countries outside Asia and Saudi/Islam following countries (essentially, white countries/people, so to speak) think this is way too much but it is how our families run. Asian families, African families, they all run on this overbearing individual in the family that fixes, as well as ruins things on the daily. It's just how it is. We live real so we are ready for the real world (as much as we hate it, it is true).
My mother had her own old world remedies that could’ve been dangerous. She gave us each a tsp of castoria every spring and every fall. Vicks rubs for colds and camomile teas with lots of sugar for fevers. She raised 9 of us and we’re all still alive. Rarely, did she use baby aspirin as my father did not believe in those kinds of things for kids.
Add 5 to 6 peppercorns, 2-3 cloves, 5-6 basil leaves, 1/4 tsp turmeric, sweet wood / licorice piece 1cm, to 2 cups of water and boil till one cup remains. Sieve it in a cup and add a few drops of lemon juice. For sweetness you may add a tsp of honey. Drink this warm drink two times a day. You can have it without sweetness also.
Thank you for all of your videos they are extremely helpful to connect with teenage children I think this is a tough time for patenting and your videos give right direction thanks again
Lime or Lemon with honey or sugar for a cold and sore throat. Also Vicks vapour rub for everything. Be it sore throat, coughing , muscle pain or joint pain , it is great.
❤ I love vicks vapor rub for everything! I used some on my wrists just before watching this because I am pregnant and have pregnancy carpal tunnel and cant use medical creams due to the pregnancy. For colds I use it as wall as warm water with honey, lemon and ginger. I also think spicy soups help clear the passages and chili 🌶️ has a lot of vitamin c. If I feel well enough to make my own spicy soup, I will but if I am too sick I order pho 🍜 and add a lot of the jalapeño it comes with. All of you deserve an A grade. 😊
There's a sugary soup/custard like thing that is made with sooji, so like a really thin consistency halwa that is also used to relieve throatache, my grandma calls it Seera, maybe that's what Shalabh's talking about
My A is to Zarna. I love plants, warm kichdi, citrius fruit, hot water bag. I alsolove the shot you can make with Haldi, Adrak, and lemon. Drink it like a shot. Sometimes, watery dal with lots of pepper, adarak, haldi, laung, lasun, Pyaz, tamatar. (like a lentil soup). 🙂
Hot tea with lemon and honey, Vicks, my grandpa soaked sliced potatoes in Vinegar and placed them on temples, wrists inside wear arm beads to draw out fever. Gargle with warm water with salt for soar throats, blow smoke in ear for ear aches, blue mouth wash for tooth ache. Cold cloth on forehead for fever run wrists under cold water.
Vicks works!! My grandmother gave it to me. I hated it but it worked. I have it to my daughter when she was small. Same thing. Hates it but it works. Love ❤️ love 💕 love 💗 you guys!!!
The sugary syrup for cold and sore throat was mady from sugar candy, cloves, whole cinnamon, black pepper pods. I had forgotten this but henceforth I will be making and drinking it. You have to take a couple of tablespoons every few hours.
OK if you don’t want Pedialyte coconut water is full of electrolytes, you can also buy electrolyte powder and added to any kind of liquid you have at home that you like❤
These kids don't seem to have any idea what home remedies are.. possibly because they have not seen it being used in their home.. often enough..they could have expanded the topic to include home hacks as well😊
Brij gets A - for walking Zarna gets A - for indoor plants, lemon ginger hot water, vit C Zoya gets A - for sleep Shalabh - with a good regular sleeping habit, he might not get sick so often, am I right?
Decent episode, looks as good as a studio sitting but not as enjoyable as previous ones because of lot of cross talk and talking over eachother. I suspect there is some time lag among you guys with audio, when you hear others and respond, the others started talking about something already. Please don't talk over eachother by figuring a way to signal to others. It reminds me of indian parliament session fight or fish market noise. This is just some constructive feedback for improvement. But even with noise I enjoyed watching it. Keep them coming
Vicks vaporub is a great remedy. So is ginger tea. Dad, though, also tells it like it is. He is not trying to play to the camera and say things just because he thinks that's what the public wants to hear him say. Go Dad! Except I do question the "sugary" cure.
Great topic but you guys should do in person podcasts..this one had too many technical glitches and time lag..you couldn't hear each other properly and people were talking over each other...
Vicks vapor rub,😅😅😅 trust me Zoya i travel all my life for the last 20 years and one thing I neber fail to pack is vicks vapor rub.... that's my to go with , and I pack 3 of them just Incase I need to gift someone 😅😅😅😅🤦🏾♀️
It’s not an immigrant thing ~ it’s more to do with the fact that older generations used home remedies because it was the way it was done ~ doctors weren’t called upon for everything because doctors weren’t available everywhere and neither were there stores on every corner or were there computers to have access to everything in the world.
Zarna shouldn't be that hard on shalab's mother on public platform atleast. She has two sons if their wife says about zarna in future... you would that be okay..?...my intention will never be to pull zarna down m great fan but I felt like it was not needed that way I felt so m just putting it out here
Guys either don't get too personal on a podcast or do a better job of editing...you guys are a great fam...Zoya you look great too 😂😂...if possible, post videos more often
Zoya gets A in most of the episodes she speaks sense and balances out. She never favours anyone and always is humble and weighs both pros and cons of issues. Brij is authentic but mostly favours father. Veer is a cute boy who doesn’t even want to participate in big people talks yet he feels responsible as a family member and respects his Bhaiya and Didi ❤ Content relevance- yes ginger, lemon, fresh air, exercise and sleep help improve immune system to fight the disease. I agree most allopathy meds are symptom-based they help reduce the symptoms but don’t cure the disease mostly.
10000% A* for YOU, Zarna. Your expressions at the beginning when no one understood the 'Home Remedies' memo, and they were naming random things haha. 😂🥰
"This podcast is not about my mother." then continues to make it all about his mom right until the end. I love seeing Zoya shouting out Zarna for the things she does. Zarna definitely gets an A for giving the most number of remedies.
You are literally asking for parenting advice from two ignorant morons??? BTW; being obsessed with minor strangers, is so incredibly inappropriate. How can you be obsessed with people you don’t know?? Parasocial much??
This video didn't address the topic in- hand clearly and seems like your kids don't understand properly the meaning of natural remedies and aren't much aware about various natural remedies that exist in alternative medicine which originated from India centuries back and strongly believe English medicine is the cure to everything... they should consider living in India for a while to learn better about the country they belong from before saying statements like Indian people think of death when we are sick, they clearly live in a bubble and have a very inferior ideology about the current day Indian society. I would say foreigners of various nationalities who live in India since many years know India better than what your kids know, especially your daughter the things she says portraying India a certain way, when they haven't even lived and grown up in this culture and tradition to know its actual reality.
Zarna aunty, it's all fun and games until you wake up to get cancelled over harmful advice or problematic takes🙈 I have a very bad feeling Shalabh uncle will be responsible for that. The only person who can save your family is Zoya and her insightful, relevant points so ensure she's always around!
Veer is so adorable! He always waits for his turn
Can you have Shalabh’s mom as a guest on the podcast? 😂😂😂
I agree, except I don’t think Zarna can handle her despite all of Zarna’s big talk
Damn, you trying to create a war.
Yes shalabh mom in the show as guest 😅
Yesss please
Yesss
I’m giving Zoya the A! She’s so articulate and knowledgeable. And for bringing up Vicks!! 😎
Imigrantes loveee some good vicks... im latino so i can confirm😅
Nope she's the typical oversmart brat
Veer’s stoic honesty always cracks me up. Especially as it contrasts so much with all the others outspoken ones in his family hahahahha
Father is really funny as he keeps bringing his mother😂😂😂

Since the past 4 days, there hasn’t been any major drama at home so I came here to watch this with my breakfast. Love it 😂

On point with the citrus, soups, sweating and sleeping. Always helps.

Yes Vicks, home made cough syrups, ginger tea etc - very comforting
Haldi-doodh and Tulsi kaadha ❤ most effective home remedies for a cold/cough/sore throat.
There's a sugary soup/custard like thing that is made with sooji, so like a really thin consistency halwa that is also used to relieve throatache, my grandma calls it Seera, maybe that's what Shalabh's talking about
Thanks for the episode. I am sick in bed with a cold and will use rub and ginger and lemon tea right away!
Really proud of Zoya for Voicing it out at 10:53.

Vick's vaporub for the win😭😂

A grade to Shalabh for defending his Mom. We are very keen to Meet Shalabh s Mom on podcast.
To answer Zoya's question YES Vaporub is a holy grail home remedy for other immigrants coming from a first generation Dominican 🇩🇴
OK if you don’t want Pedialyte coconut water is full of electrolytes, you can also buy electrolyte powder and added to any kind of liquid you have at home that you like❤
Tylenol only brings down the fevers n helps w body ache n has some anti inflammatory effects; it’s helpful
Awww now I get why they are called ABCD. Cute and funny 😅
That sugar water is honey with warm water and little bit black pepper powder.
Sugary drink - maybe syrup ginger herbs- best medicine for colds
Roots Canada- love the sweater Shalab
Vicks vapor rub!! Not an immigrant but I remember my mom putting Vicks on my chest and throat and put a warm cloth on it. Yes 🙌🏼 for Vicks!!
These kids don't seem to have any idea what home remedies are.. possibly because they have not seen it being used in their home.. often enough..they could have expanded the topic to include home hacks as well😊
Zarna you get the A! Lovely podcast ❤
Brij gets A - for walking
Zarna gets A - for indoor plants, lemon ginger hot water, vit C
Zoya gets A - for sleep
Shalabh - with a good regular sleeping habit, he might not get sick so often, am I right?
My ajji's therpy is to drink kaada and to eat hot kichidi for literally all the disease but somehow it magically works for me.
Veer is the most composed one despite being the youngest. This guy is going far
this is incredibly therapeutic
Yes absolutely grew up with Vicks vaporub in India 😅 Plus A grade to Shalabh for defending his mom 😂😂
in case of acidity and gas , my mother gives salt and carom seeds with hot water and it works
Tiger balm great for headaches - asian remedy
We need Shalabhs mom on this podcast
Honey lemon, whisky, hot toddy for cold
Vicks is universal !
Most probably she gave you tulsi , ginger , pepper extract mixed with honey - thats standard and really works .
Vicks was a big thing in our family for colds.

Grading subjects is one thing but grading people, no get rid of it.
Turmeric pepper ginger and jaggery tea for cough
I’d give it to Zarna aunty for her plants remedy. 😂
Great topic but you guys should do in person podcasts..this one had too many technical glitches and time lag..you couldn't hear each other properly and people were talking over each other...
VIC all the way, making sure my kid passes along to her kids.

Vicks is in all countries is old fashion medicine lol we use it because we think is miracle 😂😂😂

A for Zoya!

Watching from mumbai, India🇮🇳
How about Rice water or Kanji as a home remedy and can anyone remember mercurochrome for cuts and bruises?
Ur daughter such pretty young girl ❤..

i think Zoya tries to be so American and goes out of her way to portray that image. Brij is much more practical and honest, IMO, in what he says.
You are just so biased or maybe I m just ignorant
Zoya get the A because she is literally the most sensible person in all your podcasts, every damn time!!
10000% A* for YOU, Zarna. Your expressions at the beginning when no one understood the 'Home Remedies' memo, and they were naming random things haha. 😂🥰
Vicks vapor rub is the greatest remedy for so many things.Cough, colds, stuffy nose and joint and muscle pains. Some people use it for other things.
The little boy is the only one who actually answered the question 😂
"This podcast is not about my mother." then continues to make it all about his mom right until the end. I love seeing Zoya shouting out Zarna for the things she does. Zarna definitely gets an A for giving the most number of remedies.
Oh yes Vicks ! Hot tea with honey. Humidifier. I love these podcasts! Thank you all so much.
Veer is so chill. He's a poker player.
He’s a literal child, being forced to partake in adult conversation. He’s not chill, he’s confused.
Vicks is a universal remedy for everything 😂
Man i just love each character of this family 😅❤❤ much love to all of you for bringing out the real you. It's raw and fun. Keep going 💪
I know about Vicks vapor rub since I was a kid, I am 58 years old and still use it 😊.
By the way what a beautiful family, congratulations.
Zoya saying that brij is not the only handsome guy wala talk happens in my house more often😂
This is like a news channel in indian where they talk like at the same time and scenes are exactly like this 😂😂❤ really great going ❤️
Zarna, can I just say I’m so obsessed with your kids! Can you please hand over the manual on parenting 👏👏👏
You are literally asking for parenting advice from two ignorant morons??? BTW; being obsessed with minor strangers, is so incredibly inappropriate.
How can you be obsessed with people you don’t know?? Parasocial much??
Can't wait 🎉❤
Love you Zarna from me your biggest fan in New Zealand 🇳🇿 ❤️

This is hilarious.. no actual remedies 😂 ❤
Veer I agree with you - no one deserves an A grade - the concept of home remedies was totally missed 😂
Veer gets an A. He thinks through his answers, seems very practical and reasonable, and he is so polite!
Shalabh gets an A + for every episode 😂, hands down.
I feel like Zoya is my spirit animal!! I want to be her when I grow up! Even though she’s half my age!! I LOVE HOW REAL THIS FAMILY IS!! 😂😂
Uncle is still crying for his mother ... teaching so many wrong things to his kids 😅
Zarna aunty, it's all fun and games until you wake up to get cancelled over harmful advice or problematic takes🙈 I have a very bad feeling Shalabh uncle will be responsible for that. The only person who can save your family is Zoya and her insightful, relevant points so ensure she's always around!
I am so happy that his daughter told him off when he asked his son to take off his t shirt and show his abs…
Your brilliant son, with his fancy NYC education, used the word tooken, which isn’t a word!! Priceless!!
its a child on a family call, people can have a slip of tongue relax and let people make mistakes ffs
some indians use that word and everything doesn't have to be 100% right all the time
@@uditraviraj8261 , 🤣🤣🤡
Zoya is wonderful as usual.
I too love Zoya💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
