  • Tutorial on the use of the BV512 vocoder as a frequency specific effects gate. This way, it is quite easy to draw a frequency curve to delay only your treble, distort your midrange, and reverb your bass, or any configuration imaginable.

    I just got Reason a few days ago, and I'm learning a TON from your videos. This one is way cool. Here's something to add to this setup:
    Add a SubTractor into the Combinator and hook up the output from LFO1 to the Shift input on one of the Vocoder units. Disconnect the audio output from the synth. Now you can get cool effects by playing with the LFO1 settings. It sounds nice with a fast LFO rate on the delay vocoder and only a few frequencies allowed through.

    What a great, extremely customize-able idea. Thank you.
    Ohh! You could route a matrix or rpg-8 to this, in line with one device and get some serious stuff, I love it.

    Nice one mate, keep the vids comming, ive learnt so much with your tuts and its great that you share your knowledge. there are many questions i have about reason and digital audio creation and i will probably throw a couple at you. Making my songs sound larger and more vibrant on the audio spectrum, and mastering is my main hitch which i think needs focusing on by you !

    Mastering is a big topic, but the web has great resources. Just remember to think 3D - sound is (left/right , high/low, and near/far) in your audio space. The trick is just to make all your instruments fit into the space without crowding each other out. Also, the trick is to listen to your mix on a bunch of different speakers to check your EQ and levels. Unfortunately Reason doesn't use VST, but if you have the option to use a VST plugin, check out Firium, by Elemental Audio.

    Yeah man, reason is a great musical investment, you can't screw anything up besides maybe your head, anything you can think rude to mellow can be had. It will teach you about signal flow quickly, it looks way more complex than it is. Good job on all your stuff Ace.

    Make sure you use a short short decay. Also, if you aren't getting enough harmonics to render your voice properly, make sure your carrier signal is rich enough - try using chords - or distort it a little bit. Sine waves don't work so well for vocal carriers.

    toss your wav files into an NN19 or NNXT sampler. Just make sure you choose "Browse Samples" instead of Browse Patches. Use the NN19 as either your source or modulation channel on a vocoder.

    I use Reason 4 to make vocal trance, and im interested in using a vocoder, but every time i try to use it, it makes it so that you cant hear the individual words.. instead, i end up getting an interesting instrument.. do you have any idea of what i can do to use the vocoder, but still be able to understand each individual word of the vocal?

  • @UltraRegular
    @UltraRegular 16 років тому

    can the vocoder be rewired from a track in protools? in other words not having to import the vocal.

    could you just do the effect to your vocals ith the effect without a need for a synth carrier?
