-the resolution is 1136x640, there’s a typo in the graphic at 8:39 😶- Recently, Apple removed the iPod from their upper navigation (it used to be under music), making it only accessible at the very bottom of the website in small print. Even so, the iPod touch remains at $200 for the time being- so today we take a look at what very well could be the final iPod ever! Any of you using an iPod touch at all, or have used one in the past? What are your thoughts?
I’m Still rocking an iPod touch seven in product red, and even when I replace it, I’m still gonna keep it, I kinda want to collect every generation of iPod touch, (I’m currently on, 7, 6 and 4)
I have 4 iPods: 2nd Gen Touch, 7th Gen Nano, 5th Gen Classic and a 4th Gen Shuffle. The only one i don't use is the shuffle just because the battery is dead. I use the other 3 at least twice a week, being the 7th gen nano the one I use daily.
@@SKYZO4 oooh nice collection I also have a white iPhone 4s, a silver nano 3rd gen, and a blue nano 5th gen. I’d love a green 4th gen nano, I love that dark green
I bought this last year and it has been a great investment for me. I bought this strictly for a music player because I don’t get down with streaming services and I have a huge physical music collection. It serves its purpose for me and the battery lasts longer than expected since the internet isn’t used often. I only turn it on when I have to update it. I do agree with you that if you’re trying to use all of the options that are available for it that getting a phone is the better option. The internet kills the battery quickly.
Same here! Within the past couple months I bought an iPhone SE 2 to use as my phone and an iPod Touch 7 to use as my music collection (and back-up of all of my physical CDs)
@@Keither754 If you synced you music with iTunes or Finder, the iPod is not a backup of your music collection. If it is deleted from your computer then next time you sync it will be removed from the iPod There is no official way to pull music from the iPod, however you could use 3utools if you are comfortable with that. If you are using a third party app like VOX or VLC this isn't a problem.
@@user-km5yj3yj5s For me I kinda feel like the iPhone 6s is better for a music player because of its amazing features while getting a cheaper price on eBay and other sites!
The iPod touch always held a special place in my heart for some reason. I'm remembering back in 2014 when I got my first iPod touch, which was a 5th gen. running iOS 8, I used that thing all of the time! I loaded it up with a more than reasonable amount of games and other apps, and it was basically in my hands at all times! I ended up upgrading to a 6th generation when my 5th gen. stopped receiving updates, and I used the crap out of that thing too! For me, it's become tradition to buy a new iPod touch whenever one comes out, just because I've always loved the form factor, and I still use my 7th generation touch often for music or other offline purposes. While I do know that the iPod touch will eventually die off, as it's prime time was over years ago, I'll never forget the great childhood memories that I got out of my iPods, even if their hardware wasn't ever so great.
@@thedeutschman9905 I dunno if the iPod Touch 7th Gen is still worth it anymore saying for cheaper you can get a IPhone Se Or iPhone 6S which is better than the iPod Touch 7th gen in many ways other than having a slightly older chip!
@@thedeutschman9905They will add to a new iPod touch is the A12 and 64gb base storage with a bigger battery but like you said it is a little bigger mabye they can make a iPod Touch with the design of the iPhone 7 with a headphone jack they can probably do it!
So I love my gen 5 but since I got dropped the battery was been weak. I bought it refurbished and just use it for music. All I want is a music player. So what is my best option?
A lot of people keep saying you…can get this iPhone and that iPhone and it will do everything your iPod Touch can do. True but, it’s not a iPod Touch. This is what I bought it for. Plus mine is running iOS 15.4.1. Just like my iPhone 11, iPad Pro and my iPad mini.
I have one and I love it so much. I use it to listen to music a lot, during night, when I go to college, trips, every time. I just charge it like one or two times per week even though I use it a lot for music lol. It’s so nice and cute! I love having a separate device just for music. iPhones are too heavy and big for music and all. People don’t buy iPods to use them as phones because they are not phones lol. I don’t get why you recommend buying an iPhone. If I already have an iPhone, why should I buy another one? I think you don’t understand the point of having an iPod. it’s for music, that’s all.
I recently had an iPhone 6 repaired, for the reason of recovering data(photos and music), and I found it to be perfectly adequate for daily use. I played around with it a bunch, and realized, that besides having to type in a password, and push a button, instead of swiping up, that it’s still serviceable. Given the price of a used 6 these days, I honestly think it’s a fantastic budget device.
I’m always going to advocate for the IPod touch 7. After upgrading to the iPhone 13 Pro Max it’s the perfect companion for it. Using the iPod instead of whipping out that big iPhone is very convenient. I find myself using both throughout the day all the time.
On a full charge if you leave the screen on at maximum brightness and maximum volume music playing it will only last 2.5 hours before the battery dies. iPhone SE last close to six hours.
My first iPod touch was 'version 5.1.1'...I now own 4-- the latest one being a 7th generation. Each one holds a library of audiobooks, mp3's of courses, and my music copied from my cd collection. They're treasured companions. As a senior, I don't have a need for a mobile phone... and charging the battery-- not such a big deal. [And in Canada-- my cost is more like $400] Truly hope they hang around for many more years..they're a valuable resource for us. Thanks, 91 !
I love my iPod, it’s so nice to have the apple experience without having to give up the things I’ve grown to love about android phones over the years Please don’t turf the iPod, apple 🙏
of course I would rather have no notch but they will very likely have to have a notch. I would totally buy this device. I know it's never gonna happen but an iPod touch turned into an iPhone (cellular) still aluminum back and headphone jack, with the a15. I would just love how small it is, and graphene batteries to make the battery life good. (if that ever exists) but honestly I love how humble the current ipod touch is.
@@Alex-yj9xl I could see a wider range of iPhone sizes coming out. As the iPhone comes becoming more mature they will need to find more reasons for people to get a new phone . Not everyone cares that much about camera updates.
What I want from Apple right now is a totally dedicated/simple MP3 device with: 1) Bluetooth connectivity 2) Long charged batteries 3) 120+ GB memory storage capacity 4) Good screen for album artwork & track listing and really nothing more. I'm not interested in gadgets, apps or internet function. Just do items 1 to 4 VERY WELL. My Ipod classic did some of the above but alas has been retired after 13 vg years.
Okay here me out, im not sure why but if you are a major music head like me please get it. The battery is not bad if you play it with the screen on. You will get better audio quality with your ipod touch then you will with your iphone. I love my ipod touch for music.
I've heard the discussion that if Apple discontinued the iPod line for good, they'd have to slash the prices of their iPhones. Granted, if it meant the prices of the iPhone SE dropped by $100, I think we'd be okay with that.
@@Tristan Because as far as I see, Apple loves to have multiple devices at multiple price points. Sure, we can bring up how the Apple Watch Series 3 costs $200, but I don’t feel that counts, because the Watch is more of an iPhone accessory.
@@ethanator6015 I agree they like multiple prices but discontinuing iPods probably won't get them to reduce the price of iPhones. iPods make up like 1% of revenue, if they wanted to have an attractive product at that price they would have updated it. All it would do is likely encourage more people to spend more on the chepest iPhone available at the time which would only increase revenue anyways
Purchased a new Ipod touch today for 280 dollars here in British Columbia, Canada. The only reason I bought this device is because I always wanted to buy one when I was a kid but back then I didn't have any money, so I've finally fulfilled one of my childhood dream.
I bought the gold iPod touch 7 gen 256 gigs and I love it. iPod because of the nostalgics and 256 for obvious reasons. I dont use it as my main device. I have multiple new iPhone models, but I love using this little device and appreciating it for what it is. I can listen to music for hours fully charged and end with still 88% battery life. Its really not that bad. If you compare it to a new iPhone model and why would you? They are completely different in comparison, but if you compare it to an older iPod or any other device in its class, the new 7 gen is an enjoyable device to own.
I hope the iPod line never dies, sure yeah, its not worth it for most people, but that’s the thing its not for most people, i own several iPods just for music and whatever, and I’m one of the few that the iPod is marketed towards. But yeah a redesign and a revamp for a Ipod Touch and a Ipod Classic would be very epic. The target audience is there, there is still a market. it’s the reason why some businesses have been able to live off this nostalgia like elite obsolete.
I think that you are missing the main value of the IPod 7, and that is nostalgia. I recently bought a used one, and it’s like riding the Way Back machine to 2011 when I bought my first IPod Touch. It was my first “smart device”, and I used it for photography, audio books, banking, phone calls, navigation, and even music. I still have that original IPod, and still use it (along with my Nano 5 and 2010 Apple Watch). So, figuring that this was my last chance to get a IPod Touch that ran somewhat up to date apps, I grabbed one off of Marketplace for $50. It’s great (although I agree with your earlier review. It really is almost TOO light). And it does have some utility. I often carry it in my shirt pocket while hiking to use as a super light weight camera. I have it loaded with audio books, movies, and music for when I have to wait someplace without Wi-Fi (so I can save my phone battery). I use it to listen to music while I am riding my motorcycle. And sometimes I use it just because it is so much lighter than my phone is. Is it worth the $50 I paid for it? Sure. It has an ok battery, and lasts a few hours (if I turn off the Wi-Fi and blue tooth, at least). But I feel very sorry for anyone paying $200 for this soon to be orphaned piece of tech. Buyer beware! If they ever decide to come out with an IPod Touch 8, they won’t have to do any development work. Just take the original SE, put in a slightly updated processor, eliminate the cellular stuff, and voila: an IPod Touch 8! At $100, it might almost be worth buying!
Mines running iOS 15.4.1 right now. I bought one because I never owned one. I use it everyday for streaming Spotify. But, yes. The battery is terrible but I always have a charger on hand. I have a lot of different iPods I bought over the years but, I just had to have what with probably be the last iPod Touch. I hope I’ll be able to download iOS 16 on it. We shall see.
If you are in the market for a iPod touch, I suggest getting a used iPhone SE 2 on eBay. They are about $150 and sometimes cheaper and have a much better chip, better screen, battery and cameras, a home button, and can come up to 256gb of storage so they are great for playing music. I still like the iPod touch, but for some reason the SE’s are very cheap now and is hard to not recommend.
i really hope they'll upgrade this ipod instead of discontinuing it. it's kinda sad to see how they arent focused on ipod touch anymore, as this was 1 of the revolutionary device just a decade ago. things changed. ipod 4th gen was my 1st apple device just before i ever had my 1st iphone. really love the ios experience till this day :) have many memories of my ipod4
I agree they need to design it and make it look more like an iPhone SE 2020 or iPhone X, the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th gen kept those designs for 4 generations but after that, it’s stuck on the 5th gen so it still looks like an iPhone 5, I have been using an iPod touch 5 in the past but this time I’m using the 7th gen, and man it feels old, but I still love it and it needs a new design
@@IxChipmunk101xI i'm...kinda sad about that despite being an iphone user. if i used an android smartphone like samsung or even motorola...i think i wouldn't mind coughing up a few hundred bucks for an ipod touch for a secondary media device (downloaded/stream music & videos & podcast).
I bought one two years ago to use as a dedicated music player, and it does that job very well. An old iPod classic would be a no go as it does not have Bluetooth nor can it run any music apps other than doing it the old fashioned way. I have found it to be very practical to use for music streaming at parties, so nobody needs to “donate” their phone which is passcode/biometrics locked and a pain whenever someone wants to add something to the play queue. So yes, I bought my first iPod in 2020…
The ipod touch was and will always be a marketing tool. The point was to introduce iPhone technology to people who couldn’t access it. Whether that was because of the price, age, or ATT exclusivity. After all these were resolved, the iPod touch became a shell.
I just bought a 160gb iPod classic 7th generation and it's amazing to just sit back and listen to music again without worrying about getting any interruptions. I plan on modifying it to have a terabyte of storage to hold my entire music library. I may software modify it to run flac files. iPods are coming back strong and I am loving it. It's hard to find some iPods under $100 on eBay now because they're in such high demand.
I was going to congratulate you for completing a 15 minute review of an MP3 player without seriously discussing audio, but I suppose the twenty-odd seconds in the Value and Conclusion section where you discuss the iPod classic along with acknowledging that it has a headphone port counts. Also if you are only considering the iPod Touch as a theoretical “main device” for somebody on a budget, a used iPhone SE 2020 is about $200 while still being quite recent and powerful, and in a smaller size more comparable to the Touch.
I think it was a good deal in 2019, (equivelant to having an underclocked A13 ipod touch) especially at $199 but nowadays it's not unless you want strictly music playing. I would never buy it these days. Just no. I think it would be good at $129 or $149 with it's current specs. Man I wish this made sense from a business standpoint for apple.
I still don't think it's really that good for strictly music playing unless you want something very cute compact and humble, and also new, because at $400 for an iPod touch 256gb, you could buy a good condition iPhone XS, (used) with 512gb of storage, being a lot better in every single way, literally, besides size, maybe. or if you wanted a 64gb ipod touch, you could get a used iphone 7 for like $150 with aa 256gb ssd which would also be better in every single way than the ipod.
I think what could be a great idea for the ipod is to make it a bezeless device no notch no home button just a big decent quality screen a good hardware upgrade to be on core with todays phones performance a battery upgrade and some price adjustments, it will be the perfect ipod thats meant to be a budget friendly portable entertainment device
If a new iPod touch comes out, they should make a variant called the iPod touch Pro, which could be an iPhone 11 or 12 based device using the M1 or A12x Bionic chip. Am iPod touch Pro could be the Mac mini of the iPad Pro. The next iPod touch should be an iPhone 12 Mini based device with better battery. Apple should include their own controller (joy con like) boxed with it.
My beautiful blue ipod touch had an accident, so I went and ordered another one. This new one is gold. I absolutely love having it exclusively for music, and the odd game or two when killing time is needed in a pinch. I would love it if Apple went and announced a new model.
@@stoichr3324 Since I use it primarily for music, I deleted all the built-in apps that I wouldn't use and that freed up a good few GBs of space. Using the default music quality, I have 1870 songs, four small games, and two standard-definition movies downloaded, and I still have a little over 3GB left of free space. So I'd say it is plenty for me. Removing the games and movies, and switching to lossless audio, I'd say it's enough about a thousand songs? Maybe more I'm not sure. Regular quality audio, over 3k songs. Ultimately, if you really want it, and it's brand new retail priced, I'd say go for it!
10:20 The front cameras on the iPod Touch are quite the same as the one on the iPod Touch 5. The iPod Touch 5 has a camera f/2.4 35 mm equivalent front cameras, the same as the iPhone 5. However, on the iPod Touch 6 and 7, the lens is f/2.2 31 mm equivalent, along with a bigger sensor (the same front camera as the iPhone 6 and 6 plus). Well, the front camera on the iPod Touch 7 is old. There is no way around that, but just not a decade old.
The other main use case for this, along with the base model iPad and iPad mini is for app developers to perform smoke tests on their new apps in sort of a worst case scenario, with the lowest-end new hardware possible. I think it's just interesting they didn't really change the marketing much with this one, that it was marketed as an iPhone minus the Phone rather than a hi-fi digital audio player. If they redesign this they should try to compete with higher-endDAPS running Android, like the Fiio M17 or the Sony NW-A05.
I seriously use my iPod Touch 7th Generation more than my iPad Pro. I’m typing on my iPad Mini right now. Which is my favorite iDevice. But, my iPod Touch is my little toy. I’m going to hold it right now. Lol.
Didn’t think this would be the last ever iPod touch ever sold by Apple, I wish they could’ve added effort like many people want. R.I.P. iPod touch, you will be missed but never forgotten. 🕊
Have an iPod Video strangely enough just for music and iPod Touch 7 for my movie collection. Even with WiFi&BT both off, still terrible battery life but keeps kids entertained and their hands off my phone. Going forward, spare used iPhones will probably be the only option.
I Have a ipod 7 and a iphone 13 and a ipad 12 and a Chromebook and my ipod my iPod has good battery and my ipod takes good pictures aall of my devices are good are you takeing good good care ipod
I believe that the iPod touch 7 will continue to be sold as long as the iPhone 7 is supported. With rumors being that the 6s will not get iOS 16 it puts it in a weird place
Some hotels use the iPod touch to run property management apps. It allows room attendants to know which rooms they have to clean and create work orders. I wonder what will happen if and when Apple discontinues the iPod touch.
I can see the iPod touch going away soon.. 😢 it breaks my heart, it really does.. I still have the iPod touch 5th gen that I bought back in 2012 and man.. what a GREAT year that was for that device! So many memories. I was a Freshmen in High School, definitely the good ol days for me. That iPod touch holds a special place in my heart.
I got this as a Christmas present in 2020, and boy do I enjoy using it to this day! Prior to this, I had a 4th gen Shuffle, which didn’t have near the capacity of the Touch. With the new iPod, I have crafted a cohesive playlist with 177 songs, 20 of which are from the Beach Boys.
I know it’ll never happen (because it’s likely impossible) but I’d love an iPhone with these exact dimensions, but with a good screen, good battery and a good camera. I got the iPod touch 5 the day it came out and absolutely loved the feel in my hand, and in my pocket. I still pick it up from time to time just to feel it in my hand, I love how comfortable it is. Especially because of how thin it is, and the rounded edge on the back but squared off edge at the front where the screen is. I’m probably in the minority but I love small phones, and if it weren’t for the terrible battery in the 12 mini I’d probably be using it instead of my 12 Pro. I really hope they release a 14 Pro mini, but I know that definitely won’t happen unfortunately
If I waited the extra year I’d have gotten the 13 mini rather than the 12 Pro. From what I can tell, the battery issue on the 12 mini isn’t an issue for the 13 mini
I was really close to getting the 12 mini, but couldn’t get over the poor battery. I don’t regret getting the 12 pro, I like the third camera and the extra ram, plus the blue is an awesome colour, but if I had waited for the 13 series I’d almost certainly get the 13 mini
I have a 5th generation iPod touch that I bought back in 2014. Yeah, at first I used it for both music, social media and taking pictures and videos, and checking my emails. But sometime in 2017, I just been uploading and listening to music and browsing the internet when I'm at home (that part was when alot of wifi signal weren't syncing with the device, or letting me get on places like UA-cam). So, now I just pretty much listen to music on the go, and browsing the internet at home when I'm charging my phone (a Samsung android by the way). I bought a new laptop last year, and I have downloaded a lot of new songs, but the problem is that my 5th generation is not syncing with it because it's out of date. So, now I'm looking into getting the 7th generation iPod touch because it'll be compatible and sync with my PC. I don't care about the faulty specs or battery life, I just listen to music, and if I can't get the wifi signal or take good descent pictures. Well then, that's why I have a smartphone for those sorts of things. I do have a charger on hand when I'm on the go, I use it mostly for my phone, but if I should need for my iPod touch, at least I have a 3 in 1 cable with the charger.
Just watching your video Josh again. I heard the inevitable sad news about the iPod touch ending. My last iPod was the 160gb iPod classic. However, today I went straight to my local Apple store in Manchester and picked up a Gold 256gb touch, I’ve had so much fun and have such love for the iPod. Great video, I always love watching your content. Lee from Manchester England
I’m literally watching this on my 6th gen iPod touch that i bought in 2018. Back then it was nice for playing games and using other apps, but nowadays it sucks because it only supports iOS 12 which isn’t enough for most apps. I still use it, but sadly enough I think that won’t be for long anymore.
If Apple brings another Ipod Touch to the table, get rid of the camera, bring more storage and better battery life. Id also love a new form factor but I dont think its necessary for me.
Today, on 10th May of 2022 Apple officially discontinued the iPod Touch. We say goodbye to a product that has defined an entire era. A product which many of us loved and maybe someone is still having it in its collection. Farewell, iPod. You’ve done well ❤️
Great for kids, I got it for my daughter to play games and watch her shows on. Battery life isn't the best but it last hours and charges to full in no time at all.
The iPod is mainly for those who don’t need the full functionality of an iPhone yet want a portable device for music on the go. However as far as overall value is concerned I just don’t see it when there are a lot of iPhones on the used/refurbished market that do just as good if not better.
I have both the iPod touch 7th generation and the iPhone SE 2020. I love them both and they’re great. Of course I also have a Samsung Galaxy S10e which is my primary phone and it’s great, too. 👍
I have an Android as my daily driver too, and I also have the iPod touch 5th Generation for music and occasional social media browsing. Granted that iOS 9 is outdated, it still runs Spotify, which I really, really like 🥰
I’ve found some iPod touch 7’s still on iOS 12.4(.1) at work in a forgotten corner, thought it was pretty cool. They’ve also put some newer iPads back into circulation that were also left on 12.4(.1) despite being capable of the latest iOS.
i recently used my 256GB ipod touch 7G at work, listening to podcasts and music for more or less 14 hours straight. battery held up fine, was at like 60-80% at the beginning of the day and around 20 at the end. Battery is fine for listening to music and such
Also why would you every use the ipod as a "main device"? it was never meant like so? it started as an mp3 player, and the touch i think mainly is used like that, maybe watching some video or kill some time. I use the ipod to listen to music and podcasts, and i have my iphone ofc, but i find when i listen from my iphone, the battery drains so fast i have to charge after a 3-4 hours
I got mine used for $60 in early 2020 in very good shape. I use mine for music, but since upgrading to iOS 15 the music app constantly crashes after about 10 minutes.
I hope they refresh it one more time. I love the iPod and if they gave it some love I’m sure it would be a fantastic cheap alternative to the iPhone for kids who don’t yet have smartphones.
(Review pasted from a different video) I have an iPod Touch 7th Generation right now. I got it in 2019, when I was 9 years old. I was very happy with it. Now I am 12, on a trip right now. After I come back, I will be upgrading to the iPhone SE 3 (2022), because it is getting discontinued. When I was younger, I used to get hand me down phones and treat them like my phone. My iPod was a very good experience for me. I will also be getting tiktok when I come back too. I am so excited! I would give it a 4-Star rating. Or 3 and a half. It is a great phone, but It is a very outdated design. Face ID was released in 2017, and iPod Touch 7th generation was released 2019. Not supported. Touch ID was released 2013, and iPod Touch was released SIX years later, but it did not have it. It didn’t have a 4k option on youtube, because it was literally using an A10 chip from 2016! Three years before the iPod Touch 7th Gen! Also, 4k cameras were released 2015, and iPod Touch didn’t even have it. The battery life also lasts 3 hours or even less! It’s not good! It also very hard to use, very tiny. But overall, it’s just a device made for some music. But if you can just get a phone and have the same music features as an iPod, or even more, why choose the iPod? But the iPod is a great device still. It can be a good phone for a child, or for someone who can’t buy a phone yet. It has all the basic stuff a phone has. You have a 1080p FHD camera. You can watch youtube videos up to 1080p 60fps, and it is still a supported device! I will off course still be keeping my iPod because it’s discontinued, and a chance I might be using it as a backup device! I am very excited for my SE still! I heard you can watch 4k UA-cam videos on it, because it has the A15 bionic! Also a 4k 60fps back camera, and more! I am the last Gen Z born 2010, and finally getting access to more social media! Also don’t forget about 5g! It’s so cool!! :)
the iPod touch 5th gen was my first iPod touch. It was such a cool device back in 2012, being able to have games in my pocket wherever I went. Sad kids nowadays won't be able to experience that, RIP ipod.
Idk why I decided to buy this thing a few months after it launch. It only serves as extra battery for my phone which didn't make sense as I need to turn on hot spot which uses more battery. After Covid however, due to the distrust of our government, it is surprisingly useful as a QR code scanner for entering specific location as I don't want our government to track my main phone and all the account I login to. It is very light and small and if you are using it as a QR code scanner, the battery last for days.
I have fond memories of my first smart device being the iPod Touch 4th generation. I had no intention of giving it up, but I accidentally left it in a cart in a store and it was gone by the time I realized... Now I'm a Motorola devotee. :P
I bought my Ipod Classic 120 GB in 2009 and have pretty much used it everyday since. It has never let me down, still holds a good battery charge and most importantly holds my colossal MP3 library and associated artwork. Alas, just this week the headphone jack has developed a cut-in/out issue. I suppose due to bend stresses in my pocket. The leather case is battered, yet loved. Thanks Apple for a great product. I would like to carry on using it but.... NOW - what do I do? I'm not interested in loads of features... SIMPLY - I just want a large memory capacity; good battery charge; and bluetooth so that I can go cordless. No frills, just a mobile music facility.
@@monclerbalmains2688 Why would I lie and what would I gain from lying? I value honesty. It's been used everyday since 2009 without issue, until last week. I have the original recept to prove it. It is testament to a very good product. Should still be made.
When i first heard of this i proceeded to buy 3 more.At this time i own 6 in different colors along with the 7th which i am using now. As someone who detests smartphones this is the way to go for me,i can carry my music wherever i go and i have no need to whatsapp, twitter, facebook or the gram, screw social media.
I have the 3rd gen iPod touch that's still working fine as a dedicated offline music player... It's true that the battery sucked as soon as I turned on the WiFi
I still have my iPod nano 1st gen that use to this day. Don't like streaming and I have a huge music collection. Only 2GB kind of stinks, but I love it. It was the first thing I bought myself with my first job. Went through 3 battery replacements so far.
As much as I hated iTunes and the lack of a user replaceable battery the iPod is still the best designed music player I've ever owned. I've used a Sansa with Rockbox for years but it was still clunkier than my iPod.
They should definitely change the design if they want it to keep it alive. Otherwise they must discontinue it. There’s no reason an iPod touch 5 designed device would keep being sold in stores.
It’d be sad if Apple just discontinued the iPod silently, the iPod and iTunes are what put Apple back in track back in the 2000’s, the thing deserves a final special edition
I got a pretty good deal on the 128gb model. I have a large music collection. I just use it to play music. It's my only Apple device, which lets me keep my Apple ID, and you have to have at least one to use iTunes on Windows and buy music. iPad would have been more practical but I always wanted an iPod. It's fun.
Thank you for pointing out the main weak point for the ipod touch 7, the battery. I have an ipod touch 6 and noticed the battery didn't last very long. For a while, I thought I have a faulty battery but a friend also had an ipod 6 with the same problem. It appears the hi res display (and probably cpu) is sucking all the battery power. It seems you are the only review that's mentioned the weak battery too. I've held off getting the ipod 7 because I suspected the battery had not improved. Thank you for confirming this. I would get an ipod 8 only if the battery was upgraded.
I have a Red iPod touch 7th generation, 32gb. Its on iOS 14.6, should I update to the latest software? Also i see matts tech is here in the comments. I love both 91Tech and Matt's Tech
Totally agree on this as absolute bare minimum. I’ve owned them up to 6th gen and all crapped out after 15 months of good use. Not worth the price anymore considering you can pick up refurbished decent iphones at a fraction of the price. I still have a 6s mobile and the only thing that holds it back is it’s only 16 gig, considering the latest iOS takes up 10 gig and some, doesn’t leave much room to play with.
Love my 256gb Touch, strictly for music and I use it everyday. The battery does take a hit from airpods but otherwise I love it. Dankpods convinced me to get one
With the right settings the battery life isn’t bad. I’m 4 years in on my iPod t. 7th. I got it packed with offline games, music and movies. S/o dankpods.
Sorry, but this is all too negative. The iPod touch is a good product. I live a cellphone free lifestyle. I wanted a device JUST for music. And this fits the bill perfectly. And play music on my stereo system via Bluetooth. So, a win-win!
The secret is, practically use it in airplane mode, sync it with cable and forget about streaming and Bluetooth, if you have a big physical collection and don't care about anything else this is the device for you, ofc that's a niche and I wouldn't be surprised if Apple is just waiting to seel their remaining stock to finally phase out the iPod brand once and for all.
Why bother with the Classic when you can get 256gb version of the 7 generation touch that supports both lossless and streaming services and Bluetooth support without modding. Back then yes use a 5 generation of the Classic for years due to DAC was good but nowadays hard to recommend. Yes the iPod classic can be modded and did mod mines. For most people doubt they go though the trouble, or be tech savvy enough to mod one? Paid $300 new for a 256gb 7 generation iPod touch which use pretty much daily. It small support streaming including lossless and can use offline and headphone jack that actually decent, what more do you want on a DAP player, unless you driving some huge can’s that are high ohm’s then you spend more on a high end DAP player like a FILO M11?
Feels weird thinking that this used to be so much closer to the iPhone back in the days of the iPhone 4/4s/5. Now it’s just barely making its case for why it still needs to exist.
I specifically bought it in 2023, for a lightweight wired headphones music player, with functionality to download subscription apps like audible and UA-cam music for offline use. In an effort to reduce 5G and Bluetooth exposure. 😊
love my ipod touch, had so many great memories with the ipod lineup, it has way better sound quality than my samsung note 10. I will keep the ipod till it no longer functions
As the owner of both and iPhone XR and iPhone 12. I would never give up my iPod touch. It’s compact. Lightweight. Still can run modern apps. Even surf the net or email. I purchased mine back in 2020. And I’m going to keep it. It has 256 fb of storage which can hold thousands of songs. So I must respectfully disagree. It’s great as a dedicated music player! And it can surf the web send messsges. Recently, Apple removed the iPod from their upper navigation (it used to be under music), making it only accessible at the very bottom of the website in small print. Even so, the iPod touch remains at $200 for the time being- so today we take a look at what very well could be the final iPod ever!

If you are using a third party app like VOX or VLC this isn't a problem.
Same here buddy. keep Rocking out! 🤘
@@user-km5yj3yj5s For me I kinda feel like the iPhone 6s is better for a music player because of its amazing features while getting a cheaper price on eBay and other sites!
I agree
Same, I got my first as the 5th gen in 2015 and used the crap out of it, I was shocked I could take pictures away from home
To me, it holds a special place because I never thought I would enjoy doing photos and videos.
@@thedeutschman9905 I dunno if the iPod Touch 7th Gen is still worth it anymore saying for cheaper you can get a IPhone Se Or iPhone 6S which is better than the iPod Touch 7th gen in many ways other than having a slightly older chip!

iPods hold a special place in many people’s hearts and it’s sad to think they’ll discontinue it :( Apple needs to give the iPod some love and respect
I would love to see an updated iPod classic, click wheel and all

Yes they are really cool phones
In my opinion, they should release the next iPod Touch with free Apple Music imbedded in the iPod
Love the iPod touch, my first ipod touch was 4th generation. Just one of my favorite devices when I was younger.
I still rock my ipod touch 4th gen 🤣
Me too
I recently had an iPhone 6 repaired, for the reason of recovering data(photos and music), and I found it to be perfectly adequate for daily use. I played around with it a bunch, and realized, that besides having to type in a password, and push a button, instead of swiping up, that it’s still serviceable. Given the price of a used 6 these days, I honestly think it’s a fantastic budget device.
We talk about this movie but I 😢😅😊
I’m always going to advocate for the IPod touch 7. After upgrading to the iPhone 13 Pro Max it’s the perfect companion for it. Using the iPod instead of whipping out that big iPhone is very convenient. I find myself using both throughout the day all the time.
Same here. Specs aside, the iPod touch 7 does make for a decent camera which is what I use the Silver 256GB model for.
On a full charge if you leave the screen on at maximum brightness and maximum volume music playing it will only last 2.5 hours before the battery dies. iPhone SE last close to six hours.
iPhone 13 mini?
@@adeetard2545 or you know the Apple Watch,
I have my iPod Touch 7th Generation here right next to me. Like everyday. It’s my cute little toy. I have a cool blue case on it too.
Just a few weeks ago, I was at an Apple Store and they still had it on display 😂
I love my iPod, it’s so nice to have the apple experience without having to give up the things I’ve grown to love about android phones over the years
Please don’t turf the iPod, apple 🙏
It would fascinate me if they released a device with that screen size without the bezels. How incredible would that be to hold?
I would really love it, especially if it had a very small notch (for more screen). omg imagine an iphone 4s but without the bezels
of course I would rather have no notch but they will very likely have to have a notch.
Until the battery dies after 3 hours
They could but they didn't because every inch of the retina screen cost battery life. and the battery is already not so good
What I want from Apple right now is a totally dedicated/simple MP3 device with:
1) Bluetooth connectivity
2) Long charged batteries
3) 120+ GB memory storage capacity
4) Good screen for album artwork & track listing
and really nothing more.
Why would they need to?
I wanna buy one before they discontinue it. Knowing my luck I’d buy one and they’d miraculously release a new one.

Purchased a new Ipod touch today for 280 dollars here in British Columbia, Canada. The only reason I bought this device is because I always wanted to buy one when I was a kid but back then I didn't have any money, so I've finally fulfilled one of my childhood dream.
Is it still available?? I want one..
The device that sticks out hilariously at Apple stores.
It really, truly does lol
This product is for music lovers. I have one I specifically only use for music. Small, pocketable, ease of use.
I agree with Kyle , I have an ipod and use it solely for listening to music 🎶 don't need a fancy phone , just music 🎶 😉
Paying for a chip designed in 2016 in 2022 sounds wrong enough, if it had the A15 or upcoming A16, yes it's worth it
I'd want it to have an A12/A13 chip and a higher capacity battery, then it'd be worth it imo.
I still have my iPod 4, the first device for me too.
They are discontinuing it :(
@@IxChipmunk101xI i'm...kinda sad about that despite being an iphone user. if i used an android smartphone like samsung or even motorola...i think i wouldn't mind coughing up a few hundred bucks for an ipod touch for a secondary media device (downloaded/stream music & videos & podcast).

And it was a marketing tool that made so many people's childhoods, and I'll be forever grateful for that.
Josh’s videos cheer me up so so much! Thank you for all of the time, effort and hard work you put into your UA-cam videos 😊
Some people do actually want it only for the music

@@AbeM. I see.. here in Canada I can only find 32gb. My 2nd gen ipod touch still works. I'm still debating. Is 32gb enough for you?
@@AbeM. I didnt know built in apps can be deleted! That's a useful tip.

I used to have an iPod touch as a complementary device to my iPhone but I traded it for an iPad mini instead which is much more useful
Thinking about buying one, thank you for the video at the right time
I know it’ll never happen (because it’s likely impossible) but I’d love an iPhone with these exact dimensions, but with a good screen, good battery and a good camera.
I love your recording and voice-over style. Great video!
Nah. Keep the camera. Interestingly, the iPod touch 7 makes for an ideal mini camera, specs aside.
Today, on 10th May of 2022 Apple officially discontinued the iPod Touch. We say goodbye to a product that has defined an entire era. A product which many of us loved and maybe someone is still having it in its collection. Farewell, iPod. You’ve done well ❤️
they're discontinuing the ipod line (so no more iPods are going to be made :(
Great for kids, I got it for my daughter to play games and watch her shows on.
A lot of businesses use iPods for clocking in and out. Also if it’s retail they use iPads a lot for inventory and barcode scanning. There is a market.
Granted that iOS 9 is outdated, it still runs Spotify, which I really, really like 🥰
I’m so happy u made this I love this iPod
I use mine for music, but since upgrading to iOS 15 the music app constantly crashes after about 10 minutes.
how many gigabytes is it
I hope they refresh it one more time. I love the iPod and if they gave it some love I’m sure it would be a fantastic cheap alternative to the iPhone for kids who don’t yet have smartphones.
i have my ipod touch 7 and i still use it, i honestly love it
Will I be able to stream on tik tok live with it?
(Review pasted from a different video)
I have an iPod Touch 7th Generation right now.
Yes! Can you do please iPod Touch 8th Generation - 512GB, 1TB and 2TB.
With any Apple device once you tinker with settings you gain more performance, I love my iPod Touch 7.
Can I stream on tik tok live with it?
@@cookiecookielookies yes you can as long as your connected to Wi-Fi
Dude there's no way you were using your ipod classic since 2009, there's simply no way
@@monclerbalmains2688 Why would I lie and what would I gain from lying?
Thank you for uploading your videos Josh.
I kinda wish Apple made a new iPod classic, though that's probably never gonna happen.
Just picked one for $50, going to be a perfect starter mobile device for my 10 yr old.
Gosh diddly darn I just hit the subscribe button!
I got an iPod touch 7th gen 128gb from a pawn shop for sub-$200 and it is now my primary work device.
Can u still purchase iPod touches?
@@zilldollo3409 the website in the video is a good place to buy its called elite obsolete electronics
@@zilldollo3409 Apple doesn't sell the iPod Touch anymore but you could probably still find them on ebay.
I've been thinking about buying one used off of ebay or FB Marketplace so I could use it as a display for my Drone.
I have a Red iPod touch 7th generation, 32gb. Its on iOS 14.6, should I update to the latest software? Also i see matts tech is here in the comments. I love both 91Tech and Matt's Tech
Can I stream on tik tok live with it?
@@cookiecookielookies possibly, no guarantees as it isn't insanely powerful
I think the minimum requirements for a new iPod would be a A12 chip with a 1200mah battery!
Edit: also 64gb storage minimum because come on!
@@Gigantemanatee They should really just do it lets be honest they would make more money just for those small upgrades than not doing it at all!
It small support streaming including lossless and can use offline and headphone jack that actually decent, what more do you want on a DAP player, unless you driving some huge can’s that are high ohm’s then you spend more on a high end DAP player like a FILO M11?
this
Feels weird thinking that this used to be so much closer to the iPhone back in the days of the iPhone 4/4s/5. Now it’s just barely making its case for why it still needs to exist.
Helped a lot thanks dude!
Bought it to be a separate “gaming device” to play NFS No Limits but I can only play for an hour before needing to charge it again.
I will keep the ipod till it no longer functions
watching 911 tech at 9:11 pm. I love it.
My review is 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
