Disco Polo was a child of post-communist Poland rural wedding bands getting their hands on cheap electronic instruments in the 90s and trying to play more modern music styles. Most people would find it cringy and in bad taste to listen to, but when everyone gets drunk, everyone somehow knows the lyrics. It's great music for parties. It has grown a little over the years, and some bands even encouraged cringy, campy aesthetics making it self-parody.

However, saying that people "know the lyrics" when they get drunk, is an overkill. Unless we count mumbling out some gibberish until it gets to the chorus. Some of those songs entered the popculture as a kind of meme. People would learn them just to fool around and make fun of it. Also, the previous gov has been really liking this music, there's been disco polo concerts transmitted on TV all the time, so it was pretty hard to not hear it at all. Disliking this kind of music, finding it cringe and in a bad taste; and dancing to it at the weddings, aren't mutually exclusive. After all, it's a simplistic rythm and a catchy melody. And you go to the wedding to have fun with the newlyweds, not to mope because the playlist doesn't match your musical tastes.
:) These street songs from the 2000s do not match the musical level of the country of Chopin, Wieniawski, Tchaikovsky, Penderecki or Kilar. However, Polish pop-rock and jazz from the years 1966-1987 is certainly unique on a global scale. Maybe artists create better under the whip of communist Moscow?
