    So I have a 30amp travel trailer.
If I went to a campground and they only had 50amp service, I couldn't connect a 30 to 50 amp dogbone and plug it in?
    Good to know!! Thank you!

@@lovinglife69 you could connect and it will work the RV. You still can only use 3,600 watts like you would if plugged into a 30 amp site.
Doing this isn’t recommended since your power cord between the campground power and your breaker box inside the RV is no longer protected by the proper sized circuit breaker. If a short happened in that power cord, a fire would be likely.

My question is my generator has a 30 amp plug and I ran a 30 amp cord but
My Rv has a 50 twist lock plug and I bought a 50 amp twist on plug how do I wire for proper operation! It has black green white and red!,but my 30 amp cord is white green and black?????

@@brianhogan386 there are 2 kinds of 30 amp twist lock generator plugs. One is 240 volts and the other is 120 volts. The easiest thing in that situation is to get an adapter for the application since wiring a plug and getting a wire switched can fry things in the RV.
This should be the adapter you need.

I saw the adapter you highlighted on Amazon but my Rv won’t accept that one it has to be a 50 amp twist on not a plug push on so it looks completely different! That’s the problem I am having trouble with wiring up my 50 amp twist on and knowing the 30 amp cord only has one power one neutral and one ground lead , it should still work but I will not hook up the second power lead?

@@brianhogan386 a 50 amp RV has a twist lock connection at the RV going through the wall, then a cord with a push in plug. If you are trying for a custom plug, to go from 4 wires to 3 wires, you will need a junction box to combine the 1 incoming hot leg and split it off to the 2 hot legs for the RV. The white and green (neutral and ground) will connect straight through. The black will combine with the red and black.

@@MobileRVTechServices we had a pole down outside the campground no electricity,so I was forced to figure it out so I went back to the 50 amp twist on connector and ran a jumper between black and red leads and closed up. Then I installed a 30 amp surge protector @ generator and started it up and everything worked as it should! I believe the 50 amp box in camper was split so it worked for powering up my camper during the power outage!
