I would say for beginners out there, be loose. As the movie sandlot says “don’t think too much, just catch the ball”. Apply that to boarding. Don’t worry about getting hurt and falling. Once you find confidence and balance possibilities are endless. Break that mental barrier, being to stiff, and thinking too much will end up hurting you, stay loose and have fun!

This is one of the most important things other than keeping your body aligned with your board. The moment I relaxed my whole body I didn't have to think about each movement it just flowed naturally.

    Top 10 tips for begginers
    1) pay lessons from qualify instructor you will learn quicker and will get the correct technic
    2) wear wrist guards and some impact pants and helmet for when you fall will protect you from injury and your ass when you catching the edge
    3) wear warm comfortable clothing that will keep you dry and warm
    4) try on the first 2 days find out if you are goofy or regular and set up your board accordingly as hire company’s will give you a board ducket stands that means will work for both but I think if you set up for your best stand will help you to learn quicker then after you can learn switch
    5) try to practise next to friends who are more experience and not below your level will make you improved a lot faster
    6) try to avoid flats and cat tracks and try to stay in mellow wide areas where you can Practice and when you learn to ride properly on the edge you can start ridding flats better .
    7) don’t spend alot of money on the first trip in gear just buy the esenciales then when you learn properly provably 2nd or 3rd season will be the right time to buy boots and board.
    8) avoid alcohol at the Lunch breaks if you are with friends will increase your confidence but also increase your chance of a injury
    9) don’t be scare to try reds and ride wide will help you alot to improve your edge control
    10) wear clothing that people can see you incase you fall and avoid stay too long in the floor if you fall in area of Hight traffic
If I knew this when I started I am sure I had learn a lot quicker and enjoyed even more 🫶🏂🫶

I've been Snowboarding for 5 Years now and my tip for the Beginners out there is to just be patient. Don't rush anything if you're unsure of it. Watch a ton of snowboarding videos like these. In no time you will be able to zoom down a hill with no fear and full control 😁

An important lesson for beginners is don't pussy out on the apré. Snowboarding is about a full day on the mountain and then the night out with friends drinking having a good time

I'm a rookie rider with 15 days under my belt. Days 1 and 2 were private lessons. I wish we had spent a lot more time pushing and riding with one foot strapped in. On Day 3 I went up a chairlift and fell down on the off ramp, breaking my wrist. For sure, those first three days are tough.

great vid! picked my daughter and my wife up because they get frustrated as beginners.
i picked up snowboarding rather quickly as a teenager becasue i was a sponsored skateboarder and (although quite a different animal), obviously many aspects still transfer over...
i purchased your program too! im a better skateboarder than snowboarder in terms of tricks, so i look forward to it!

Board setup can really hold you back. don't Just buy a board online throw it together and hope for the best. Get someone to set it up properly for you. Most board and ski shops will do this for you. or even better check out some vids on board set ups and learn to do it yourself.

Make sure to wear water proof pants and gloves. I cant tell you how many times I have had students show up with sweatpants and cotton gloves. Also make sure to bring Eye protection and Sun Screen. Another things I see people overlook on their first day.

Also forgot to mention a pair of knee pads. They don't have to be anything special but some extra padding on the knees helps out a lot on the first days. Heck I still ride with them and this is my 36th year.

My tip for beginners is to invest in quality gear. The barrier to entry is relatively expensive, but buying a used can save you tons! Boots that fit well will make your time on the mountain infinitely more comfortable.

being used to sidewaze in the offseason and only start when there is a little ( ~ 2" / 5cm) fresh snow on the ground, the float will send many signals to your brain at once ;-)

Put your hand on the front of the edge of the chair when unloading use the same hand as your loose foot. If your left foot is loose use left hand on chair to let it push you off when getting off. Ride flat base drag your toe or heel and plant that loose foot against the binding and ride off stopping with a J turn

For the day ones out there 🤣 just take your time and get some help if you need it. Also some tips is to never look at the ground, "Where you look is where your going to go" -My personal trainer told me this, if you want to go left then look over your left shoulder same thing with the right shoulder look right, but NEVER look at the ground or else your just going to fall into the snow, not a fun thing to do. Also be nice and loose and don't bend your knees that much, just stand nice and tall. You guys got this ❤

One thing that needs to change with beginner lessons.... you need to learn on a camber board... NOT a rocker!
I know people say less edge catching happens with rocker, but when your 1st starting out, its gonna happen anyways! You develop much better basic posture and form with camber boards. They work the leg muscles twice as hard and help you twice as fast to build up edge control confidence. Trust me... learn on a camber and then when you do switch to rocker, you will laugh your ass of at how easy these boards are to control!

Get decent protection. Wrist guards, crash pants, knee pads. Falling on your ass three days in a row will get you out of the game and so does breaking your wrists.
Don't take off your goggles or put them on your helmet. They will fog up and you won't see sh*t. If you take them off, put them in their protective bag and in your jacket to keep them warm.
Check if your gear is (still) waterproof. Gloves, jacket, pants.
Most important is to have fun and enjoy being on the slopes.
