    Excellent way of creating a Sankey chart without any add-ins!

      Thanks. It’s not easy and it takes a lot of thinking through. But it works. 😀

    I've not seen this chart done before so thanks for sharing, very useful 👍 One major shortcut to creating all the layered charts would be to save the first one as a template and apply it to each new one as it's created - should save a lot of setup time.

      I’m not aware of many other native solutions to create Sankey Diagrams in Excel. It took a lot of time to work it out.
      Templates don’t always work well on complex charts, so I tend to avoid them.
      I’ve actually got a macro which creates all the charts… even easier. 😀

      @@ExcelOffTheGrid Ideal and definitely better than templates. I find templates do some of the work but certainly not all.

      I tried more complex solutions for a long time. But then it turns out thinking as simple as possible gets a suitable result .

    [thanks for this, really helpful! may i know if there's any way that i can add more row/column to the source data i mean the template is 4x4, but can we do 5x5 or perhaps 6x6?

      You’ll need to work through the example file and understand how all the calculations work.
      Then you can build your own template with as many sections as you need.

    Would this work if we wanted to add a 3rd or maybe a 4 level. Good vid, goin to try it out.

    • @ExcelOffTheGrid
      @ExcelOffTheGrid  2 роки тому

      You need enough levels in the template. Then you can just not use some.

      @@ExcelOffTheGrid was thinking how to do 3, 4 layers. Right now I'm doing like your example, 2 and then just placing together, but can't get the 1-2 to connect as nice to 2-3, since I'm treating the pairs separately

    Really helpful - thanks - quick question, do I need to create charts for each line in the SankeyLines table or should I skip charts for the "blank" rows between groups of "Froms"

    • @ExcelOffTheGrid
      @ExcelOffTheGrid  2 роки тому

      You can skip the blanks. However, if you later decide that you want those items in a color you can change the blanks to have a fill color, and operate like all the others.

    tried it out, put all of my data in (12x12 from/to matrix) l get all of my node names stacked at the top and a lot of bars below, could you provide the macro to create the charts?

    • @ExcelOffTheGrid

      I have a Macro, but it will take a bit more work before it's ready to release to others.
