The virtual PS2 Memory Card that can be created on any PS3 is a feature left over from the PS2 backwards compatible models. You can actually copy save files from and to a real PS2 Memorycard with an adapter. PS2 Classics from the PlayStation store don't use this and store their save files separately and are normally not accessible.
I've always taken the term 'refurbished' to also mean something that's been checked (ie it works and all the bits that should be included in the box are there) and cleaned (surface and air vents only?). I'd then think it's been factory reset - or simply had any data or accounts deleted from the hard drive. (It might be worth checking the box to see if it's been replaced with another by looking at the serial number on the box to see if it matches that of the console?). Just my thoughts on this matter!
Here in Brazil, I bought a used PS3 in June 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, for R$850 (around $160 dollars), it was functional, but I had to refurbish it myself. I replaced the hard drive for a SSD, fixed the eject button, and needlessly replaced the thermal paste many times believing it would lower temps, going as far as delidding the CELL, only to go back to temps that were close to stock paste temps (it was at least unopened and surprisingly clean when I got it)... I'd say I spent at least R$300 for the whole job, but it still came much cheaper than I would have payed for a so called "refurbished" console around here. The used market here in Brazil is hideous, but I'd say it's better to risk getting something for cheap and having the trouble of fixing it yourself than overpaying for the same thing and having headaches because of shady businesses XD.
No it's not better to get something cheap and then fix it yourself. Pay a reasonable price but get a working one. Paying and then fixing it yourself is actually just as bad (or even worse) than paying double the price. Imagine putting all that hard work on top of spending your hard earned money on it
@@sharjeelahmed7913 Depends on the point of view. As an example, Game Cube controllers are extremely overpriced around here (R$250~R$300), but you can buy some janky controllers, usually only with a busted analogue stick, for around 40% of the asking price. Button replacements and sticks are so cheap, and nothing beats a good alcohol bath. Of course, you may have to do some soldering work if the sticks are completely busted, but due to the stick drift era, it's also very easy to find full stick assembly replacements. I've done something similar with PS3 controllers, which are still fairly easy to find cheap in good condition, but those that scream "refurbished", usually are not worth the extra price.
I do hate that I bought a way over priced game from DKOldies but, the reason I still did it was because I'm less likely to get ripped off than buying from eBay

You're right . The only flaw with them is that they fall off a lot . I think that I have the exact same ones on one of my PS3 controllers and they're super glued on 😆
Just checked and yes they never packaged HDMI cables with any PS3 SKU. Not even the Super Slim which is weird knowing that Sony were the first with a HDMI port.
I’ve heard about DKOldies, apparently there prices are absolutely crazy, I once checked their website and even in UK prices it was still very expensive, cheaper getting one from Japan and that includes postage
Buy from Facebook marketplace in the UK they are cheapest by far getting this exact console boxed with 1 game 5 mins from me for £40 in fact this one is only 120gb the one I'm getting is 160gb for 40 quid is crazy I also got few weeks ago on there 2 wii's one was the red wii mini with wii fit board 4 controllers and a controller with motion plus and 15 games 256gb sd card all boxed 45 quid. Facebook marketplace is crazy cheap
I bought my ps3 slim CIB from Japan eBay for $170 and couldn’t believe how good the condition was, especially the DualShock3. It felt like buying a ps3 for the first time, all the packaging and manuals were included. Whereas this dkoldies store looks like a rip off.
@Forza Exactly I buy all my Sony products from Japan on ebay. Ps3 final fantasy 13 model. Then a ps vita lcd model which looks like it was barley touched. They tend to take care of their things compared to other countries.
I've seen a handful of their shorts, and I don't think they even have the staff capable of properly servicing and refurbishing consoles. Like I've never seen them take out the motherboard from the chassis's of consoles to clean them. Just seen them give consoles a once over with a toothbrush and IPA on the outer shell. But thats just based on my limited viewing of their content.
I’ve seen them as well I do a better job I always buy “for parts/not working” ps2s from eBay and so far only two out of the 9 I’ve bought were completely dead I salvaged those two for parts
300 dollars??? The last PS3 I bought was the blue super slim with the manual disc tray with 250 GB from a Walmart for 199.99 CAD and it’s still running today. It also came with one of the NHL games.
Saw the website of this channel. Yikers. Old technology didn’t become cheap… All I want in this world is a good PS2 controller, like actually real good.
The original 320GB was at the time (when I got it) like $350 why would you pay for less storage and it’s not even new for almost the original price of the top end model …
Some of their pieces are reasonable, some are flat out outrageous. I did buy a GC Wavebird controller from them, because it was $75 in good condition. Which is on par with eBay if not cheaper. I did a fair amount of comparing between their prices and eBay prices when I was rebuilding my childhood PS2 collection. Some games were on par or even cheaper than eBay. But, some were also $10-$20 more than ebay prices as well. You really gotta double check their prices vs other outlets. But yeah don’t buy consoles from them. $200 for a GameCube with a bootleg controller is robbery.
@@orlandoduran2766 absolutely wouldn’t say I got “mugged”. A clean Wavebird goes pretty consistently on eBay for $75 to $100. After their discount code I think I paid $68? I however will not buy from them again. They claim in videos they clean everything before it goes out to customers. Well this Wavebird showed up, not in a box but a bubble mailer mind you, and hadn’t been cleaned, ever. The screws had some kind of corrosion on them, the thumb stick was yellowed and dingy, and it was covered in the former owners grime. Luckily I know how to take stuff like that apart and properly clean them so I replaced the thumb sticks and cleaned the whole thing with isopropyl alcohol. It’s a great condition controller now, but it wasn’t as it was from them.
Yea it is a bit pricey but as a Pokemon fan there are a ton of fake copies of GBA and DS games on eBay and Amazon and if you have a Pokemon diamond, pearl, HeartGold, or SoulSilver and want a Pokemon from your copy of ruby, sapphire, FireRed, or leaf green, you must have a real copy
Funny thing is that the PS2 Games DON'T use those "Internal PS2 Memory Card" files... Each Digital PS2 Classic I've downloaded makes a unique 17MB File for itself under "PS2 Save Data" or whatever 🤷♂️
That’s a price I’d expect to pay from Retrospekt…if they did consoles. They refurbish their products to seem like new,or as close to it. Taken apart, the whole nine yards, going as far as to source the best parts for one item if need be.
For $300 You can buy: 1 = PS3 1 = PS4 (500GB) Here in the Philippines. I bought my PS4 back in December 2019 for about P10,000 sale in Datablitz store. Bought PS3 for about P5,000 at Greenhills (Popular place where you can buy a decent 2nd hand devices).
A year ago I bought a ps3 fat from dko and when I got it it was the dirtiest thing I had ever seen. I started to clean it up and opened up the ps3 to see how dirty I was inside. When I opened it up I found out that they had gutted the console and stuffed it with random things to throw me off and make me think that it would work
Jacob as a LONG time collector and reseller myself i would never buy from a DKOldies, I have read so many stories and it would go against my religion to pay that much for anything. And yes I get that you're doing this for a video but the quality should be "like new" on everything for that price. And for what you paid you should not once have to say you are being nitpicky, your expectations should be high. Every console or controller I ship I clean everything and I also wrap all cords up either zip tie, or fold them in a way they are all tight when they come out of the box for the customer and I dont charge half that much.
A month or two ago I bought a used Xbox 360 E console only (with power supply/cable) on eBay for less than $70 USD after taxes and shipping. I understand you get the console inspection/cleaning/fixing/good shipping packaging/speed along with basically 100% working guarantee and a limited warranty but imo it's just not worth it...
I still have a PS3 Slim as well which is actually the 160 GB PS3 Slim model, and I use it as my main PS3 overall. I first got my 160 GB PS3 Slim back in 2011 and it still works really great so far, even eleven years later. It's still a shame though that the later models of the PS3 aren't backwards compatible with PS2 game discs and I wish Sony would have still kept the PS2 backwards compatibility feature for all models of the PS3, just like they did with PS1 game discs even though I can still play PS1 games on the PS3. Nice video though and great job on it too! I also have Gran Turismo 2 for PS1 as well which is one of my favorite PS1 games ever!
I brought a refurbished ps3 ages ago in New Zealand for $40 nzd. Came with two controllers and a dozen games. Facebook marketplace is where the game deals are at.
Yes they’re prices are ridiculous! They’re also smart and know how to get ppl’s attention! When filming buyer’s orders thats a smart sales tactic imo. I would never buy from them.
I guess they maybe vacuum it and wipe it off really quick and possibly remove stickers etc and call it refurbished. Some people probably don't mind paying $200 extra and ordering from DKoldies is pretty straight forward and they get a few months of warranty.
I shopped with DK Oldies. I bought some very common games, Gran Turismo, cheaper stuff, it was fine. The rarer games and bundles are crazy, as well as Pokemon games, but to be expected. eBay is a sketchy crapshoot.
Well to put this in perspective, ive bought a 50USD new never used to game on it, ps3 which was turned for a test that looked just like brand new .I dont think 300USD is worth it for a one which hasnt even been opened. Personally removing the warranty sticker doesnt make any change to me since its old product out of warranty so its good idea anyways to be refurbished or if its has been never opened at least to check thermal paste as a minimum, but since that one is used i bet the thermal paste will need changing 100%. A tube of thermal paste cost in average 20 bucks and the console is very fast starting to add up in value from the 300 paid originally.
That's the console i currently own myself same model except i paid only 100 for mine which came with a bunch of video games and controllers this is just outlandish
Just ordered my PS3 slim from Amazon. I came here to check it out. I had a feeling you would already unboxed one of these so that’s why I’m subscribed.😂
Every time I see videos like this, I honestly wonder why people buy from DKOldies. I can't make sense of it. People are just nuts and lazy. It keeps these crooks in business 🤣🤣🤣🤣
When a company sell refurbished items, they should always grade it "A,B or C" that will let the buyer know and manage expectations of the condition of the item.
Seems pretty expensive to me.. Last year i bought a ps3 slim 320gb version for 60 euros and it was in better shape than this. The owner also included a second dualshock. The only thing i did was changing the thermal paste, but i mean, we‘re talking about a 13 year old console at least

But DKOldies couldn’t even put a fresh 2032 battery in for you still before sending the console back?! Especially the pricing over the overall library of the console all things considered! I am so happy I never bought a single thing from them especially for Saturn 🪐
I love Dk oldies but their prices are outrageous. Like I understand the games are brand new games that has no issues or marks but God. Hell, a couple months ago I order from Amazon GTA 4 for my Xbox one and for $10. When I got it. It had that plastic wrap around it, the ones they put on new games. I even opened it up. Everything was there. The game with no scratches, the map, the manual and even a Xbox gold 1 month code. And it still worked lol. Now imagine how much dk oldies would sell that for if they had it.
That will be $179.99 on SALE
staff has to get paid
@@Maddensx yeah but that much for stuff that you can get cheaper on Amazon?
@@Maddensx yup.... scratching stuff up with a magic eraser is hard work 😂
@@Maddensx that has to be the worst excuse ever
I got mine ps3 super slim a year ago for 70$ and it still looks beautiful without one scratch, and it came with a controller too
The virtual PS2 Memory Card that can be created on any PS3 is a feature left over from the PS2 backwards compatible models.
Same, not to say that this PS3 wasn't overpriced, but far too many people expect "refurbished" to mean "like new."
Ya man it’s been happening to most of us, it’s crazy, a lot of people, will pay top dollar for there childhood’s memories, DKoldies is taking full advantage of alot of people with there prices & bullshit promises. Thank you for making this video, hopefully they get the hint & change there business approach 😉👍🏽💯
Those are snap-on trigger extenders for the PS3. They make it so your finger doesn't just slide off the trigger as easy
You're right . The only flaw with them is that they fall off a lot . I think that I have the exact same ones on one of my PS3 controllers and they're super glued on 😆
Interesting, I had no idea, but you are correct. They fit lol
I heard about them. They had death threats a little while back. And that price is ridiculous 😮
Buy from Facebook marketplace in the UK they are cheapest by far getting this exact console boxed with 1 game 5 mins from me for £40 in fact this one is only 120gb the one I'm getting is 160gb for 40 quid is crazy
I also got few weeks ago on there 2 wii's one was the red wii mini with wii fit board 4 controllers and a controller with motion plus and 15 games 256gb sd card all boxed 45 quid.
@@forza8719 yeah the one I got higher hard drive than the one dk oldies sold and box immaculate same with 2 controllers and all manuals for 50 dollars
Im importing the super famicom version of MORTAL KOMBAT
@Forza Exactly I buy all my Sony products from Japan on ebay. Ps3 final fantasy 13 model. Then a ps vita lcd model which looks like it was barley touched. They tend to take care of their things compared to other countries.
I've seen a handful of their shorts, and I don't think they even have the staff capable of properly servicing and refurbishing consoles. Like I've never seen them take out the motherboard from the chassis's of consoles to clean them. Just seen them give consoles a once over with a toothbrush and IPA on the outer shell. But thats just based on my limited viewing of their content.
I’ve seen them as well I do a better job I always buy “for parts/not working” ps2s from eBay and so far only two out of the 9 I’ve bought were completely dead I salvaged those two for parts
tbh they probably resurfaced all of the disks, so the scratch resistant coating on the blu ray that you were talking about was probably removed.
I have the same resurfacing machine that they use. I highly doubt they resurfaced the Blu-ray Discs, they don’t resurface well
I just bought two PS3 slims for $20, and $30 on FB marketplace. Both work, and one had Rebug already on it. Imagine paying an extra $270 for nothing😆
Legendary
Bought the same model without the box and cables with the 300gb hard drive for 100$ canadian tax in 3 years ago at my local pawn shop .
Although dk oldies prices are high they sometimes throw in a keychain so it works out.
Hahaha what ? You are willing to pay a extra hundred dollars for a cheap keychain. 😂
I've only bought a select few items from DK. I like the PS3 slim design. It felt premium when I first bought it.
I find decent looking systems at sub $100 all the time. They are basically charging premium for the box and inserts.
300 dollars??? The last PS3 I bought was the blue super slim with the manual disc tray with 250 GB from a Walmart for 199.99 CAD and it’s still running today. It also came with one of the NHL games.
I got a free one from my father in law in brand new conditions. I’d never buy anything from DK hustlers lol
Saw the website of this channel.
Yikers. Old technology didn’t become cheap…
All I want in this world is a good PS2 controller, like actually real good.
The original 320GB was at the time (when I got it) like $350 why would you pay for less storage and it’s not even new for almost the original price of the top end model …
I just bought one on marketplace off a guy, came with 14 games,3 oem controllers ect. Works mint. Cost me $45
$300 for a refurbish and the warranty seal hasn’t even been touched 😭😭 for that price I would expect a full clean out and a delid
Well I'm excited to see this I've been subscribed to DK oldies UA-cam channel for about 7 months now can't wait to see what your review!
"Since your order got picked to be filmed, I'll throw in this PS2 trigger button for free."
You my friend got mugged by DKOldies 😂 ripped off is just a compliment by now. Why do u guys keep shopping there?
2:54 I had that with my PS3, it's like a little extension for the triggers.
$300 is crazy!! I recently picked one of these up for $60 locally.
For $300
You can buy:
1 = PS3
1 = PS4 (500GB)
Here in the Philippines. I bought my PS4 back in December 2019 for about P10,000 sale in Datablitz store. Bought PS3 for about P5,000 at Greenhills (Popular place where you can buy a decent 2nd hand devices).
Uncharted 3 did always take really long to load up. I thought my PS3 was broken playing it back in the day.
I bought a refurbished PS3 top loader from Amazon, and honestly it was in great shape. It was $200.
Your content has improved considerably, figured it would be fair to say good job
First time watching your channel. I like the format especially the no intro approach straight to the point nice video btw!
Thanks fam ❤
Since u agreed to be filmed, im throwing in a extra controller
I'd like to see the inside. For that price I expect my refurb to be fully rebuilt and clean.
Back in 2012 I paid 160$ for the same ps3 refurbished at GameStop, and it still working.
That one there is a violation. XD L.m.a.o. 'Cause we all know Gamestop was on some b.s. when it came to "refurbished" consoles.
@@Tatenak idk, maybe I got lucky, but mines still keeps going strong.
Would be great if they replace the caps that cause problem in PS3 as precaution to ensure problem free years of play.
Wow 300 for a used ps3 slim ? That was the original price when it first came out.
I got an excellent condition 120gb ps3 slim with 2 controllers and 2 controller charging cables for £80 from gumtree. The deal was pretty good!
Love the Chad Warden edit in there. ABAP!!!
600 dollas
The trigger thing is actually one of two clip on trigger extenders. I still have two sets & use them.
Nice try DKOldies
My Milwaukee fastback is so dirty I'm jealous of ur brand new box knife
The guy from dkoldies is super cool and nice and their staff looks the same, but I gotta say their up charging is very anti consumer
It's funny to see you could get a ps4 for the same exact price.
These prices... Wow. 300$ for used PS3 Slim?! Oof
Should have gotten a PS4 Pro with that price.
@@dericjames2018 he's got to make money reviewing stuff lol
Well, apparently DK doesn’t care about their systems very much
PS3 120 GB model is £70 (no box) to £90( boxed) at CeX in the UK with 24 months Warranty.
Paying $300 for the same seems too much.
Jacob just ordered!
😂
That's the console i currently own myself same model except i paid only 100 for mine which came with a bunch of video games and controllers this is just outlandish
Just ordered my PS3 slim from Amazon. I came here to check it out. I had a feeling you would already unboxed one of these so that’s why I’m subscribed.😂
Back then DKOldies used to have good prices. But im guessing the pandemic and inflation took over
$.150(converted from IDR)in my country. Same type but with CFW. Me buy around $.300 too but in 2013.
Every time I see videos like this, I honestly wonder why people buy from DKOldies. I can't make sense of it. People are just nuts and lazy. It keeps these crooks in business 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I still want that ps3 with the boomerang controller I remember seeing all the prototypes in a PlayStation magazine and I couldn’t wait
Man I straight remember opening my first PlayStation 3
$300???
Yeh 😪
that micro b cable for the price.... man. is like the $0.5 you buy in the local chinesse market.
This is going to be fun
When a company sell refurbished items, they should always grade it "A,B or C" that will let the buyer know and manage expectations of the condition of the item.
Seems pretty expensive to me.. Last year i bought a ps3 slim 320gb version for 60 euros and it was in better shape than this. The owner also included a second dualshock. The only thing i did was changing the thermal paste, but i mean, we‘re talking about a 13 year old console at least
Type crazy how dirty some "refurbished" consoles are when it takes like 5 minutes or less to use disinfectant wipes to clean the console exterior and accessories
Recently I got a ps3 + controller + 20 games for €120. Took maybe 1,5 hours to clean etc. 300 is insane...
I bought a PS3 and 10 games, mostly cod, for 90 bucks over a year ago. Still works perfect
Sony advertising a brand new PS4 for 299$ on this 300$ PS3 should tell you all you need to know
