    i shared these stories just cuz i think it's interesting that the common assumption is that other ppl have to "accept" the lifestyle of a traveler/vehicle dweller.... but there's also the part where vehicle dwellers/travelers have to accept house dwellers too 😂

      Very tricky for females, you have a narrow window for youth/beauty and fertility. It's different for men because we can trash our youth and still become fathers in our 40s and 50s or even higher.

      Hobo Ahle i have a home in boston, gave it up ( aunt an uncle live it now )Been van dwelling for 3yrs now. The dating scene can be alittle difficult for people that dont understand or have no intensions on wanting to understand. Ive dated twice in the 3yrs an the girl accepted it very well. Ive seen alot, ive done alot since traveling. I do have a steady job. Once i hit the west coast i will go back home ( not happening anytime soon ). Im in orlando florida st the koment.

    The comments like "No real guy would expect you to..." and "Never sacrifice..." or "It's not real if they ask you to sacrifice..." amuse me. To make a lasting serious relationship work and last, there is always an inevitable compromise and sacrifice. What it comes down to is both sides being willing and ready to make those compromises and sacrifices. It takes time, patience, and understanding to get to that point, and the same things to keep it going for the long term.

    • @ohxsimplistic
      @ohxsimplistic 6 років тому +12

      Those things only come after being with someone for YEARS. If you started dating and guy or girl and a couple months later or even a yr he asked you to sacrifice or expected you to do certain things then what else down the line would they want you to give up. Y’all should have mutual or common interest in the beginning and build upon that and grow after a couple yrs. then and only then should compromise happen to continue for y’all to grow.

    • @OddBallPerformance
      @OddBallPerformance 6 років тому +5

      @@ohxsimplistic I don't disagree with anything you said. Well put. However, there are always going to be some compromise or sacrifice, otherwise you would never make it to the "years" to begin with. They just get bigger and more serious as the relationship also gets more serious. Stuff like what she talked about in the video is usually the make it or break it point where one person is ready to make that next step and the other person isn't. Nothing wrong with that either. I am aiming my remarks at the people stuck in never never land where relationships are always perfect - girls never fart and guys remember important days and notice what she did with her hair.

      I find it interesting that people assume she dates men. Even though shes being non gender specific by saying they ... but I'm only half way through the video. And you are right. In order for a relationship to work and last there has to be give and take... which really isnt a sacrifice if you feel they are worth it and you love the person. It just kinda happens naturally. And for the most part what ever the sacrifice was.. doesnt seem as important anymore.

    No one ever died wanting, “I gave up my dream to live the life others wanted for me” placed on their tombstone.
    Suppose you had a job that took your around the country all the time and you could get an equal job (same pay & benefits) where your boyfriend lived, but you really liked your current job and didn’t want to leave it. Is there a difference between that scenario and your life - No. Relationships are tough no matter the situation. Everyone (regardless of age*) is selfish to some extent, it is natural and no explanation should be necessary. So, yes you were selfish, but so was your boyfriend. Live your dream, what you are doing adds facets to the gem of a person you are making you more interesting.
    You are young, life is long, it will all work itself out.
    * why do young people think their life issues are sooo much different than any other age group? 😀

    I want to get in on the subject she is talking about and these comments about older men in this post. By the way I am a male in my 40's. For Ahle, dating is for trying out and breaking up, even when you agree with a mate. More than likely, you will change. My ex was attractive and engineering math smart. We got married in college, too young. I would rather go to a cabin in Colorado. She liked the party crowds at Atlanta's Freaknic and Mardi Gras in New Orleans. We were and are way too different. I get to tell you like I tell my nephews, Breaking up before the marriage, kids and a mortgage is the best thing that can ever happen to you.

Just not sure how you'd collect some of that money without a fixed address for say a bank account in order to have a place for the money to go or cash/deposit checks, also not sure this particular way you'd be able to continually generate cash flow at all times. Go weeks or months at a time not getting anything(hopefully not, but curious if you have a back up way of making ends meet).

    I've been in a van for about 1.5 years.
    but... i'm in California. lol. money hit the fan hard here with absorbent over pricing for basic needs, dmv, housing... i travel and love where i am, i'm 2 hours from surf, snow, hiking, racing... its great. but the jobs i find are designed to keep me here...my desire for a AAA national park trek is California unfriendly.
    dating is like... a negative thing. i'm a pretty chill guy.
    When girls see me and see how positive my attitude is, chill lax... active survivalist, hunter, surfer, ski dog, Wastelander! the second I tell them my lifestyle its all down hill no matter who i may be.
    i travel and love where i'm 2 hours from surf, snow, hiking, racing, hunting... its great. but its very lonely being a perceived financial exile!
    i no longer look or want to date... getting "handled" being subjugated... my heart doesn't really need the hardships, you spoke very eloquently to the reasons not to give into the peer pressure to conform I've felt for these few years. I know who i am. I have never cheated, never done anyone dirty. honest integrity...in a search for beauty I've left behind all that was ugly. i'm happy to search this world as i am.
    the trade off... it only hurts on cold nights, or when i find a hidden place.
    who hasn't found themselves staring into the most beautiful landscapes, looked around, and found no one to share it with.

    I worked on the road for years,I've lived many places. It's in our nature to explore and transcend our minds through experience. I saw glaciers on TV and then I worked in Alaska and walked on one. Traveling is not just an adventure physically it's a spiritual path as well and you can only understand that if you live on the road. Most people dont want to eat the same meal day after day. It's the same with travel life. Some are content with being in one place,seeing the same sunset on the same skyline, seeing the same people etc... However,for others,travel life is like the ocean side. No telling what you come across the next day and that is the magic. That's why we went in boats to discover new land,walk on the moon and such. This woman has pioneer blood in her and that's rather rare these days in a world of instant gratification. Props to you Ahle.

      Appearance and nice personality are not the only thing that involves a relationship. Remember the first part of the word relationship: *relation*
      If there is such a divide in how two individuals choose to exist (one consantly traveling, the other staying in one spot), and they do not have a strong connection of knowing each other for years yet, they will likely not choose to sacrifice how they currently live for the other. They think that they will find another person who lives like they live, so they split up.
      Both individuals spent years building up their own way of living, and to just throw that to the wind and start all over for one person, when there are thousands of other people out there they can meet? They just won't let go very easily.

    I think it's very admirable that you want to continue to pursue your traveling life. I totally get what your saying and I agree it's complicated but knowing what you want at this time is what's most valuable to your life. Anyone who gets to know you will have to understand your choices. In healthy relationships two people should always be understanding and compromise. It takes time to know each others love languages and to adjust to each others thoughts and ideas. It's the sincerity of one who the other has to know. So if you're truly sincere for this time being for how you'd like to do life then that should be taken seriously by the one who is committing themselves to you. Therefore in time the relationship will be pure and open to find the next best plan of action for living.
    So you have established Y♡U at this point and I think it's obvious Y♡U must continue to live out who Y♡U are at this time. The hearts are there because that is what's going to determine where your mind will rest. It's resting in the fact that Y♡U've made this choice and it fills your soul with happiness. Someone needs to take that as very important substance to the relationship.
    The right person will totally arrive at the right time and most of this topic will be beautifully solved together well. 😉💖🙏
    I have worked so hard to actually be prepared for things like this. To live debt free and to be able to pay cash for things. I feel truly blessed to be in the position I'm in. It was my choice! People will say things to destroy your thoughts for being different, but the thing is we don't have to listen. With that being said.., We make choices that aren't always selfish but instead fulfill the happiness we long for on the inside and in the end it's vital to who we are and who we will become! ✌😇

    So my question is how is it a long distance relationship if you are mobile? I understand you living you're life the way you want to, but being mobile means if you want to see your significant other you just drive or travel there? Makes sense.... I think that even you don't want to live in one certain place or state it gives you more reason to go back to that state. Like you said you aren't obligated to be in one place because of work, home, ect... so at least the relationship gives you reason to go back to where your partner lives. It ain't like he had to wait 6 months to see you, now if that happens then yes, you are the one creating the distance. Now my opinion again... if is a couple of weeks or even a month wherever you want to go, and another couples of weeks to a month where your partner lives is fair, even healthy.... distance sometimes is healthy in a relationship. It makes it better when you see each other cause you missed that person. And whenever he is free he should travel with you as well... a happy medium let's say. The fact that you live whenever you like and experience so many beautiful places sounds awesome, even living a dream... I understand the traveling, but at least it gives you a reason to go back to a place. You are not living in one city when you are visiting, same as when you travel, you stay for a "certain time" like a couple of weeks or a month for example and then you move to another experience. Just that a relationship at least should give you reason to visit a place more than once maybe? I dunno the "mobile lifestyle"but I think if the realtion matters it should be a happy medium where they both compromise to a certain degree to make each other happy...

    My advice to you would be to not date for a while. The lifestyle is hard for 95% of people today and most follow Instagramers but can't really do it themselves. It's hard. I would also look for people in different places. There are plenty of travelers and people who are down for traveling and have the ability to do so. If you look for people in conventional ways there is a very slim chance you'll find someone but odds are you'll bounce around to relationships that eventually won't work. If travel is your main priority then just do that. Enjoy friendships. Maybe don't label it. Like there is no need to date necessarily but when you have a chance to get together then get together. Applying labels to it usually brings an added stress when you are trying to make things work. Instead of trying to make things work just go with the flow. Long distance relationships rarely work. And they don't because you sell yourself short of experiences. Whether it be experiences with each other or experiences on your own. I've done it twice and regretted it both times. I'm actually about to end the one I'm in now because I want to travel and she wants to spend all of her money to make her house her personal oasis because she thinks it will make her happy. A lot of times people force things because they prefer to not be alone. I've learned and realized I actually prefer to be alone. I'm not saying don't date, but some people shouldn't depending at what point they are at in their life. Maybe when you are done traveling then actually look for something. And van relationships are different than "normal" relationships for the fact you are living in way 95% or more can not live. So when you date another van dweller maybe it will be more similar but until then you have to understand your lifestyle will not fit with almost everyone you come across. Another issue unfortunately is guys will be willing to date you ignoring everything that comes along with it. They'll tell themselves they can do it. When in fact they know they can't. Being as beautiful as you are IMO will make it more difficult. Guys are willing to lie to themselves or something as simple as beauty. It's how we are wired honestly. I've done it myself. So I would be more careful of who you chose to make that leap with. As genuine as it seems it will not be sometimes. And by genuine I mean accepting how you choose to live. Once you find that guy things will be gravy for you. Good luck.

    I commend you for sticking to your original plan. I wouldn’t give up/change my dream for someone who might not work out.

    I'm glad you didn't allow the break up to influence your lifestyle. Just live your best life and be happy, maybe some one will come along you can relate to, maybe not , either way just doing what you want that makes you fulfilled and happy will be enough, love. Safe travels and best wishes from S. Ga.
