FYI, the trip after Lisbon is up North through EN1 road, followed by some EN up Beira Alta region (also known as "estradas das Beiras"), ending in Viseu. The train station does not exist anymore. Great footage, I particularly liked the old style national roads, with the concrete pillars and traffic signs!
Hi! Can I question something? Its Viseu from the minute 12:35 with the train, till the end of the video? That river and the sand extraction is also Viseu? Can I use your images at a school project?
@@gordonashumway I added portuguese music from the period, to your video, in a version I made for my channel in 2016. I contacted you via You Tube private messager (then available, but Google removed it after), to ask your permission. Well I gave you total credit for the video and even complimented you in several portuguese forums. Here is my version: ua-cam.com/video/ExVoaWKKaPA/v-deo.html Back in 2016 I wrote in a few portuguese forums that I was attempting to interview you by email, and ask you questions about how you felt to be in Portugal, two years after the Revolution, from your american perspective. I don't have much time now to devote to forums, but I would make time for you. You have a unique perspective and story to tell, about Portugal in 1976, that will die with you, unless you are interested in sharing it for posterity. I was born in Lisbon in 1976, when you filmed your video... it's very dear to me.

Pedro Marques I made this film in the 70ties when I worked in Portugal. I like your comments, but they are all in Portuguese. Please write more in English, so I can follow your comments.

Hi! I'm Joana and I'm working on the editing of a Portuguese documentary film. I can't find the owner video's contact ... so I'm sending the request to use a part of this video. Is it possible to contact YOU via email or something? We would love to use your beautiful images of our city! Thank you, Joana

Amazing record of the period. So many double-decker buses. And naturally, flared trousers everywhere!

Thank you Mr. Gordon very good !! The only thing I would add would be the sound, which could be music
I had music with it, but I kept receiving notes and invoices from the record company.

Não me estava a referir à situação dos retornados das ex-colónias, mas sim do sistema atual, e dos imigrantes atuais.
As estradas? Nos anos 80 pelo menos não eram nada boas
Selfish people made Lisbon look beautiful in 1976 but no development in their other colony Mozambique
