It depens where you came from. I'm not a native English speaker so I would never pronounce it "Manguh". Im from germany btw. And for the most germans a English" A" sounds like an "e" or "ey " in our language. We have the same alphabet but pronounce it differently. And I think its in other counties the same.

When I was telling my friend about manga in middle school she was like "manga?? No no it's mAn-ga silly." & I was like no it's mon-ga (we went back & forth for a while). So I went to my other friend and she also said it's pronounced as mAn-ga so I was like oh guess I'm wrong then.
When I ask my parents if I can have mangas, I always say it in Japanese 'cause it sounds like how you would say it in Dutch. But we speak Kurdish, and 'Mungah' (how you said it) means cow, in our language. So my parents almost always answer with, "Huh, oh yeah sure. When we go back to Iraq you can have as many as you want." And they KNOW that I don't mean that kind of mungah💀
