The Siamese, in our experience ( 35+ years being owned by Meezers ), are very loyal and outgoing cats. They love family, but will attach themselves more so to one member of their family. They are pretty long lived as well. Watch for kidney issues and keep regular health checkups for them ( as with any breed ). Probably the one downside is the incredible noise they generate which tends to multiply about tenfold around mealtimes, ie; they are quite vocal. Ohh, they can also sound like a medium sized herd of Elephants as they run around the house when their humans have gone to bed for the night.

It sounded like he said “Birman” when describing the Burmese. Very different breeds - yet I noticed Birman attributes of being dog-like attributed to the Burmese. There were enough other misstatements that led me to believe the creator(s) of this video haven’t a clue. A first-time cat owner should go to a shelter and adopt one of the thousands of fabulous cats that are just waiting for a forever home. Purebred cats lack hybrid vigor; doubtful a newbie cat owner would want the learning curve AND expensive vet bills.
Sounds lovely. My family has kept cats before and I've been looking to get one again eventually. So naturally I followed up on that common advice and checked my country's nationwide shelter program. With just a few of their basic filters selected, I was left with 20 cats. All of 3, once I had ticked the box to not show the ones previously adopted (god knows why that is even a feature). All three were described as having various behavioural issues and a really traumatic history, one was going on her 3rd round. One required lifelong medical attention. So apparently shelters are doing just fine over here I guess. Doubtful that a newbie cat owner would want the learning curve AND behavioural issues and/or trauma's PLUS said vet bills. ;)
1:49 - I think there is a difference between the "Burmese" and "Birman" . The Burmese is the local cat breed of Myanmar but the Birman that has traveled to and popular in the west consists of cross breed of Burmese with the Siamese and Persian or something like that. Kindly confirm as the difference matters a lot with respect to the genetics concerning health and lifespan of the respective breed.
Consider a Scottish Fold which does not have folded ears. 2/4 cats in a litter are unfolded & thus have no value to the breeder. Breeders get rid of Scottish Folds, & not necessarily in a good way. That ‘s why there is a Scottish Fold rescue society. It’s there for unfolded Scottish Folds. These are a much better choice than folded SF cats because they don’t have genetic problems with their cartilage. This can cripple some folded SFs. (The ears are folded due to cartilage problems). I love my unfolded SF. Super easy to care for and a most loving kitty.
Honestly, I know I’m late. It really depends on your needs and the cats needs. That list was probably made by a bunch of people who didn’t have the proper environment for the kitty.
In my opinion it is the American shorthair, due to affordability. You can often get them for free and they don't require a special diet. My best friend is Tiger at 15: pound , a wonderful tabby.
Sphynx cats are most certainly not beginners cats, they need extra cleaning due oil build on the skin as they have no fur and dedicated areas to keep them warm also the fact they are sensitive to temperature means they are prone to obesity so you have to keep on top making sure you aren’t over feeding them. Just because they have no fur and have a tendency to seek warmth does not make them a beginners cat
Also listing cat breeds most prone to vet heavy illnesses? Both maine coons and sphynx are predisposed to heart diseases and poor breeding of scottish fold they always get joint issues because it is what causes the ear fold. Making sure you can afford vet bills for these breeds or insurance is vital
My first cat was a Maine Coon. Oddly accurate. And considering every cat I've owned (they were all rescues that I rescued) were a Maine Coon. Geez people around here really dislike Maine Coons. Every time I see a Maine Coon its abandoned. I hate it.

@@kawaiiaza7370 Yes, your entire house will become their play area! Once they reach 7 or 8 years of age, they will mellow out a bit like most any other cat.
