I hope he makes more of them because now I want all my audiobooks directed by Wes Anderson.

While watching these I said to my GF, these are basically audiobooks with visuals. And I'm completely fine with that. I couldn't imagine them working any other way.
Anderson and Dahl are a great combination.

I read Henry Sugar after watching the short, and The Swan before watching the short. I think it was the right call with both, Swan since the way Wes frames the story gave it a whole other feel, and Henry Sugar because it has a way more details that are easier to appreciate when you know the over all sequence of events. (and i think maybe a whole other layer Wes might have failed to convey, spoilers: Roald implies heavily that the reason the original man who saw without his eyes died was that by writing it down, the doctor ensured his name would become famous, which he says in the yogic tradition would bring a misterious Death, a detail that Wes possibly cut for time. Then the decision to protect Henry's name and the introduction of a third character in the make up artist, who could very well be Henry in disguise would make more sense. I like this theoey of mine, but i admitt it might just have been incluenced by Wes' decision to have Bennedict play both parts and me wanting Sugar to be alive.)
