Right I was gonna break his balls about that but u just made a real good point it is impossible probably why u don’t see to many street legal,but if u did change the sprockets for more top end it would help keep that front wheel down.

I think it has something to do with the sound and feel of the bike let's face it most people do not drag knees and elbows on an MX bike to corner it they have a foot outstretched and push off like they are on a skateboard Lol! Old habits die hard regardless of the terrain. I bet if senior spent the next few years racing these bikes as super motards we would see a different suit and riding technique manifest.
I like the way it does a powerwheelie before the powerband and when the powerband starts hitting you will see the bike speeding up even more and going up even more

i hava a 95 cr500 streetlegal here in holland. when i go tru town with the beast people hate the noise. a few who know what a cr500 is love it and i get a thumbs up. kids will start to cry when i pass them about the noise the beast make. so its always a happening when i get it tru town. love it.

Finally - a bike that’ll run with a derestricted Aprilia RXV-550... I have an ‘09 (redesign after the earlier design case sealing problems) and she runs like a scalded dog! Very rare bike (found mine in a crate in N.Michigan as a leftover 2009 sn#13 - so I know not many made it to the USA). If not familiar - imagine a high revving dohc V-twin (70 rwhp) in a motocross frame with lights and all the bells - and street legal!! Another beast of a bike is the German Maico 500, 620 and 685 2 strokes. Bad Ass! Need one of each please! Is the CR for sale...?

Had a cr250 street legal some time ago, awesome bikes!
Fellas I got a question: I’m from Italy, how does it work there? Here we can drive 125s from the age of 16, but limited to 15 hp. In fact companies like ktm or Tm immatricolate them with that power with really small exhausts, and then you turn them back to 30 + hp with the original pipe. Beside that, we got anti-pollution laws, so as for the hp the big brands like ktm give them the anti pollution regulation which obviously isn’t true. And are those pro circuit, fmf ecc. pipes road legal? Here not. Despite all these things, there are a lot of 2 stroke riders and police isn’t that hard with us, they pretend they don’t know a lot bikes are not legal, or simply are bike lovers and don’t be annoying. Peace!
You can be sneaky and get a raw pipe from a manufacturer and paint it black to seem original at a glance but an aftermarket silencer wont stand up to scrutiny.
@@dr.hugog.hackenbush9443 so it is illegal in USA too? Here if the cop wants to punish you, he can oblige you to undergo the “extraordinary revision “ - that’s the translation - where you have to have your bike set legal in order to pass it. Of course with several thousands of euros of fee.

Beautiful CR500 with such a neat conversion to street legal spec. Just please don't let the very talented guy who built this bike do the same thing to an 86 KX500 Works Replica. As id be wanting that shipped to the UK if he was crazy enough to let it go. What a nice bike though and so neat and factory it's what Honda should have done with the late CR500 models to maximize sales, especially when the supermoto craze was in its peak in the early 2000's. It would have been king of the supermoto bikes forever!

I wonder why service Honda has not gotten in touch with Athena yet to produce an injection system for these bigbores so that they automatically adjust for elevation and temperature disparities along the way. I would definitely rock one of these with a punched and stroked for street use. I am not too old that I cannot enjoy a blast on a King of the ping every now and then. Granted the cost of one of these is more than a new 1200 Sporty but in all fairness it is also twice the thrill! I miss my 93 KX500 and my 96 CR 500. There is nothing like it in the world when you have the dragon by the tail on a 500 plus cc two-stroke dirt machine and you grab a wrist full and suddenly clods of earth the size of golf balls are launched into the sky behind you as the front wheel finds itself pointing to 10 o'clock.
I had an 1983 CR 480 that was an animal and would put you over on your back in a hurry if you got too liberal with the throttle. Then again having a bike that put out over 55hp and only weighing 230 lbs wet made such events effortless. The biggest issue with the 480 was it was only a 2 year run and the aftermarket never really caught on for that model so options were very limited.
Junior brought up an interesting point in that the one you are riding was not highway restricted but I think that should never have been an issue because for a motorbike to be restricted from highway use it must be less than 250cc. You can do the same thing with a 250cc KX, RM, Yz, Cr and run it on an interstate. My buddy has a 97 CR125 with a 134 kit in it and a heavy fly wheel that he converted as a commuter dualsport that when the police inspected it they told him he could not run it on the interstate because it is only 125cc but he could run it on state highways. I think it has something to do with the calculated speeds and ability to accelerate beyond posted speeds to avoid incident or merge. That is speculation but would make reasonable sense. Thanks for sharing.

I guess anything that gets a photo or video is an event people must advertise. My 2013 Husqvarna TE511 is a plated MX bike. No keyed ignition, huge knobbies and an electric start. California sucks when it comes to trying to plate a dirt bike. but mt 511 was street legal from day 1.
