Can someone please explain what the disadvantages are of corraling cattle? Johann pointed it out so many times without elaborating
When in a traditional corral situation, cattle will select certain grasses and leave others. With high density rotational grazing, the herd will eat all the forage, consistently, resulting in healthier pastures and cattle, in the long run.
I think what he was getting at was the fact that the cattle have a limited time to eat forage... So they take large mouthfuls and engorge themselves quickly. And then can go long periods of time without forage without losing too much body condition.
