We called her "Queen" because she simply has not rival in her generation. The more you listen the more you'll be convinced. This was a few years back. She is even better now. Hard to believe I know.
One prominent vocal coach said that Mori is worshiping at the end when she is so lost in the song that she doesn't even know where she is. One music producer said that this is what you "think" you are hearing when you listen to a Western performer who uses auto-tune, and multiple takes, and other post production. And, Mori is doing it live. No post. One take. Sitting down. She is a marvel.
I call her the Secretariat of singers - a once in a century talent. She can cover anyone else's song and improve it as in this case, but no one can improve on her songs.
Morissette was 3 years old when her family discovered her talent in singing when she was left with a karaoke singing a Regine Velasquez song "you are my song".
6 years now listening to her and her voice is still Perfect!!!

Hi Lex, sorry for the 2nd comment. The song with Morissette and Arnel was not rehearsed. As you'll see...they have the lyrics on their phones. This is also a much younger Morissette.....fun fact...I was searching Arnel on UA-cam and found their duet.....it launched me on my Morissette journey which has been stunning. I've even been able to see her live in L.A.!
Fun fact: she was under the weather that day, but she killed it anyways. But you hear her breathing harder than normal. Which even fits to the lyrics of the song! („and it feels like it‘s getting hard to breathe…“)
A lotta people hate on Morissette because she does this on all the songs she performs. She'll blow you away singing the ingredients of a tube of toothpaste. Personally, I love her vocal style. It's passionate, masterful and captivating. Literally anything she's put out or been recorded in is amazing. I would even recommend when haters put out videos of her faltering in performances when she was not 100%. Fun Fact: she was not feeling well in this performance. Still killt it.

Andra Day was the original singer of the song. You should also check out Morissette's other song on my Philipinnes marathon "Akin Ka Na Lang", and use the "cc" button for the subtitles. There is a reason it has so many million views - everybody suggests that song to reactors even though it's in the Philippine Tagalog language. Also see those other singers from the Philippines covering the song "One Sweet Day", even if you don't react to it. My marathons with Morissette and Aurora (I hope you checked her out) were originally going to be NicknLex marathons, and I thought your sisters might also like them.

Morissette, born in 1996, was singing since she was young, already joining singing competitions in their home province when she was 9. She moved to Manila, the country's capital, to pursue her dreams of making it big. Auditioned and joined various talent competitions like Star Factor and The Voice Philippines. Although she did not win, the TV channel signed her up. And have been performing in shows, released an album, did concerts in the Philippines and abroad. During the pandemic, she started song-writing and producing her own songs together with her husband. She released a five-track EP called "Signature". Hope you and Nick will feature all her original songs.

I've been listening to Morrisette for 7 years.
Her rendition of this song during the Love Gala Celebration is also topnotch with the audience all agog with her performance. Her vocal prowess is out of this world. Morissette belongs to the top tier league of singers. The Philippines is gifted with lots of talented singers. And they are being showcased on the Wish Bus.

the Philippines have many wonderful singers. I couldn't list them all because I have no room haha. But Morissette stands alone when it comes to who's the best. Sure other singers have voices that are almost equal but her versatility, charm, personality , vitality, charisma, (hell I could go on and on ) are what separates her from the pack. All our western artists over here in North America could take lessons from her LOL

I have not heard the original nor of Andra Day. I'm like you, didn't know about singing is harder sitting down ... In the Philippines, you could say singing is a pastime which is generally done during some kind of gathering from birthday parties, weddings, even on wakes/funeral, or when friends are just hanging out. Don’t think for a second that everyone could carry a tune…..no sir!!! But, for the love of music, even the ones that are tone deaf, like me, don’t let them stop from trying. 😆😆😆

Andra Day ...is the original artist of Rise-Up , and Morissette basically makes it her own here. Like your last......you'll most likely find this cover, better than the original. Professionally she started in 2011...but did singing competitions starting at 8. Over the years, this song cover by Morissette had been taken down a few times from YT because it had garnered more views than the original singer's video - not sure who took Morissette's videos down, but other fans kept uploading it. Go figure!

Nice to see Lex solo! Filipino singers are unbelievably talented, but I do wish more if them would turn to original content instead of just doing covers. Hopefully that will develop more over time as clearly the talent is there.
There is a group called 4th Impact that I followed from their 2015 (I think) appearance on the British version of X Factor, and I hate talent shows, which shows how good they are. Any of the videos from their performances on that show are worth watching, but I would start with their audition video which has garnered over 190 million views to date.
