I purchased one of these last year and what a great buy it was. A lot of thought and engineering has gone into the product. I own a Toyota FJ Cruiser, the rack clears the spare tyre holder easily and there are no rattles or movement with my experience. Honestly, I don't even notice its on the vehicle, as, unlike a trailer, you don't have that pull you feel and constant rattle of the hitch.
@@oo0Spyder0oo Not at all, I haven’t altered my driving habits at all when the rack and bike are fitted. When I look in my side mirrors all I see is about a clenched fist size of the tyre sticking out from either side.
Mate thank u for this vid 10/10👍 Im not a dirt bike guy just little touches like grab wheel don’t try Nd manhandle it up and on.. yep i know obvious to most. The Ballard instructions were well ikea like a bit the tie down for foot pegs 🙄 jesus H how could i miss that!! Cheers Andre
I just bought the san hima bike carrier. Looks very similar to the Ballards one but their are no tie down points on the rear of carrier. Kinda turned me off using it. Might have to purchase one of these
Mine has tie downs points on front and rear ?? I brought mine about a month ago, gonna make 2 wheel clamps for more support but mines been unreal for the price
Keen on this, but worry that the securing bar wouldn't be able to slide down low enough for my modern trials bike. Anyone use one of the Ballard's carriers for a modern trials bike?
what about the number plate, surely you need a aux number plate from a legal standpoint, the cops tried to fine me the other day for just having the towball slightly in the way of the number plate, lucky i had the correct socket and removed it on the spot, fine avoided.
got the aux plate just to keep everything legal and the indicator kit as it is wider than my vf ute ,also the extra bracket as was moving around on the hitch too much for my liking ,otherwise it not bad
How do you have so much adjustment in the turnbuckles mine are as tight as I can get them and they are still way to loose. The whole turnbuckle needs to be way smaller. I cant figure it out? Bike is a 17 husky 350
hey I have the triton aswell and have just bought the Ballard rack. when I put the carrier in it has a small amount of movement. the bike itself stays solid but the carrier moves side to side.

How about the rear wheel protruding like it does, must make you wary when trucks are coming the other way on a bridge or something?

Need to pad the arm that goes over the seat or you will wreck your seat cover
That's it I'm buying one!!!
they're a good thing. I still use my one.
Sound investment, looks like good kit
after i bought mine, i had to grind the corners of the square tube before it would fit into my tow hitch..

Looks a decent bit of kit. Anyone know if they’re available in the UK?

Hi David, you are correct you do need a number plate in Victoira which I purchased from Vicroads after the filming of the review.

Where did you get that long shackle lock? Got a make and model? Have you got link to the bolt on fuel carrier?

I went to Bunnings and bought new stainless steal ones..

You may need a better tow bar mounting pin? my pin can be tighten which fixes any side to side movement.
I have a ranger and the tow arm on the rack is too long. Did you get an extension or did you cut the tow arm to fit to one hole?
Hi Paul, I had no problem it fits fine on my Triton.
how do u go with the tyres wider than the ute ?
Hey mate I have a prado. Will I have clearance with spare tyre cover ?
No
It 100% will fit mate, hope this helps, 4 years later.
I had a kid bike didn’t fit in this thing .. complete waste of money for me .called them up but no help ..
👍👍
Everything was looking good until having to go to Bunnings to buy a bit of wood to get it on the rack... come on guys. You gotta do better...
