A nice "bugeye"!Sadly in the Eu this version was only 265Hp,despite the fact, that from the previous model you could by a 340Hp version from the factory.
In America the Sti has always and still does have unequal length headers. The Wrx has unequal length headers until 2015, when they switched to equal length.
This was the last year of unequal length headers? 🤔 Sorry Derek, but that doesn't seem correct. I've had four EJ-powered cars, all '04 and later, and all had unequal length headers.
All you need to do is pass the NHSTA crash test. Buy at least 12 of them, if they pass the crashes at all the angles, then you just need to get it to pass emissions which might require an ECU or engine swap. Don't listen to those people who say they got plates on one in a rural county, the plates don't matter, if you get pulled over, the VIN will still show as not clearing customs.
Seriously though, if Impreza's didn't have that amazing and distinctive sound they used to have from the unequal length exhaust headers, would anyone even care about them? If mitsubishi can learn how to attach UEL headers on their Evo 7s, 9's and Tommi Mackinen's, I'd swap today and forever more. The Evo's always looked better, were faster, better designed, better built, better engineered, they just didn't have that sound that we all found out about in 1998 when Mr McRae was tearing up the stages in his UEL Impreza.
5:54 r32 in backgrounds is so clean
Nice video ,thanks for producing these videos very nice 👍
Fire!
My Dads friend has one of these exact cars, Japanese import. Widebodied, huge exhaust, unknown engine mods, 350bhp, unknown aftermarket wheels, carbon fibre roof, carbon fibre mirrors, carbon fibre stock style spoiler, gauges and a fake carbon fibre hood (now removed)
I remember when my neighbor bought this exact one , I would just stare at it lol
I found a white one in my town that was imported a year ago and I'm hoping to buy it when the owner takes it out of storage in the spring.

Did they go to the EJ25 for this generation in the UK. This gen was the first WRX in the US, but it was the EJ25 and was rather poopy.
Poopy by comparison of course.
PacificCoastAuto As far as I know in Europe we only got the 2.5 starting with the hawkeye and the models after that.
japanese imports are so awesome
subaru is Korean
OMG thats freaking sick!!!!
I think someone messed up because he said 2002 and the tile says 2001
There shouldn't be too much of a difference between the 2001 model and 2002 model.
Wait so JDM 2002+ WRX/STI's have equal length headers?
On Sunday, I will be posting a version 8 STi and the sound is completely different.
Yes the "v8" STI is a twin scroll turbo with equal length manifold
my 2002 STI has unequal length headers from factory
DOn't listen to them, they had UEL Headers until the 2005 models.

Can you buy old cabs in Japan? I'd love to see a Toyota Comfort or Nissan Cedric Y31.
How is this a 4 b/b car with rolled fenders, dented and cracked roof, spray paint, and the interior painted and headliner sagging??
probably a really relaxed auction... mine was a 3.5 C/C and the condition of it is 10x better
That's what I thought, these cars seem to get dodgy and shitty mods and really don't seem to get cared for by their owners.
Is that red HiAce in the background a former ambulance or fire vehicle?
Fire Vehicle, Japanese Ambulances are White with a Red stripe while it's inverted for Fire Trucks.
Very cool car.
What’s the name of the front bumper?

JDM ones or outside market ones?
I just shot a Version 8 yesterday and it's not the same sound.
My 2001 jdm sti bug eye has the v7 ej207 which comes with equal length headers same as this car not unequal.
Nice car
So how do you import one of these into the U.S.? I've wanted an 01 or 02 impreza wrx forever and don't know about getting one in the U.S.
The 25 years rule applies in general. So you need to wait until 2026 for the 01 and 2027 for the 02.
America got the WRX in 2002, so unless you want an STI bugeye, there’s no reason to import one.
Let’s be honest brother if your willing to pay that much for importing a wrx from over seas I wouldn’t in nz there only $3000 +

I am in Canada, how much can I get one perfect WRX STI. How much is it.
$5
Look for early 2001-2002 bug eyes the WRX is under 5k or so CAD
What kind of air freshener was that?
It was a ROBOT IN DISGUISE
Cool :)
