A weird fantasy of mine in GTA 4 was to fly a helicopter up to the statue and line up the pilots door perfectly with the coffee cup and somehow perfectly time getting out of the chopper to stand on the coffee cup. To this day after countless times of trying, I have never succeeded.
2:00 Very minor correction but the Declaration of independence was signed on July 2nd, ratified on July 3rd and went into effect on August 15th. July 4th is when the news came out to the public via horseback criers and pamphleteers
The heart itself is, I agree, a twist on the usual play of the metaphorical “heart” of a city being something much more literal in GTA IV than locations are in the real world. But the thing I feel I’ve never gotten a satisfactory answer to is what the thematic purpose of the chains is. Not like they need to be there for added realism or something, we can believe the giant heart would stay there by itself if we accept its existence lol. No, the chains have to mean something else but what? Is it saying that Liberty City chains the heart and soul of its people meaning they will never truly be free? Do the chains connecting it to the image of a powerful politician mean that the city is enthralled to powerful interests rather than its people? Is it saying that the heart of the city, and its people, needs to be restrained to check the basest impulses of a city we know is prone to corruption and decadence? Is it saying all of this or none of them at all? I don’t know, but ever since I first saw this thing, I can’t shake the feeling that there’s some deeper meaning to it that I’m just not grasping.
My theory is kind of like one you posed, it makes sense actually, that the Chains represent the people of liberty city not being truly free/bound to the city. I’m not sure if you’ve ever met someone born and raised in NYC but I have, being from the northeast (Not NY or NYC) and almost everywhere they go, New Yorkers openly compare it to NYC and explain why it’s better in nyc, they’ve got a stereotype for being arrogant and thinking their city is heaven on earth, while everything else sucks, they’re bound to their city almost as if by chains

Fun Fact, during heart transplants the donor heart is kept isolated on a tube meant to simulate the flow of blood to keep it alive. It's very similar looking to this but without the chains.
this reminds me so much of the Monument Mythos. it's a super creepy story about certain monuments being alive and connected to each other. @Wendigoon made a superb video about it. Well worth checking out in my opinion.
2:50 I’d have to look up when GTA IV was released and where it fits on the electoral timeline, but Hillary was a Presidential candidate back then too, running for the Democratic ticket in 2008 before being defeated by surprise newcomer, Barack Obama. At the time they were making the game, 2006-7 I’m assuming, it was conventional wisdom that she was going to run, win the nomination and then the election. At a guess, I’d say this was them trying to get out ahead of the curve and include the current President ominously overlooking the city when the game released but history had other plans.
I miss this channel, guy was pretty good. He never got to do that video on “Reptillians in politics” for GTA VII. Which was a player urban legend about 7, that the president was a lizard. It was kinda hinted at in the UN mission “Everlasting” in which you have to sabotage the presentation of a micro nation that did a report on fracking and the release of a potentially deadly virus from deep in the earth. It’s when you walk by the Vice Presidents door and hear her talking quietly on phone and saying “we are still immune?” And a voice similar to the president responds “As long as you’re still cold blooded”. Anyway that aside, ya was sad. Dude just vanished after the video about GYA VII’s secret unlockable protagonist Nicolai Khage an actor in the in game movie Facing Off 4. Was pretty cool the guy was still uploading even though YT was in its worse state ever by 2078. Sigh, well back to work, marrow doesn’t mine itself.
It may seem odd that no one mentions it, but how often do you in real life hear someone mention anything that is common knowledge enough to be featured in a movie as worth bringing up in a conversation
why was there even a icon of the statue's torch in the website if she was just holding a coffee cup? That's strange. the torch looks just exactly like real life version. well expect that cartoon fire obviously. Maybe i am just looking into it way too far
Fizhy. You are great. I love your videos. And personally I think you need to keep diving deeper into older content until GTA 6 comes out. I'm loving the nostalgia trip I've been on seeing your GTA 4 content recently. I'm honestly wanting to see you go further back in time now. Thing I might have missed when I was younger. Do you know the GTA San Andreas "big foot" rumor was started because that area of the map is shaped as a " big foot". I swear it's true 😂
HELLO Fizhy SUPER VIDEO GTA 4 STORY Heart of Liberty City AMAZING KEEP GOING CONTINUE YOU ARE THE BEST GOOD JOB EXCELLENT FANTASTIC ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I read somewhere that the heart was symbolic of Rockstar's feelings towards politicians like Hillary Clinton. The heart has always been a symbol of life and passion. That's why some Catholic heraldry depicts Jesus holding his own heart. The heart inside the statue is in chains. Perhaps that suggests that Rockstar feels that their artistic vision is confined.
I saw a grainy ass video of this back in the day.. me and my bro didnt believe it... I went to look on my own. bad idea Edit: Huh, I remember the heart room being all red. strange
I really hope gta 6 puts this game in the fucking ground, gta iv is very overrated, free roam is weak and the missions are boring, the story is good but there is just almost nothing to do besides that
Its a very serious crime realistic game, its really not for people under the age of 18. And according to your comment i think you are kid. Gta 4 characters and Niko Bellic is what most real life career criminals or gangsters would be - hardened face, no peace, less happiness, wishing for a crimefree life but cant because they are forced by poor means of living.
Hillary Clinton, we meet again.

Maybe the heart is pumping coffee. It would explain why it's stained black, although it would raise even more questions
Perhaps it's what powers the city. The "city that never sleeps" never sleeps because it runs on coffee.
