This is simply amazing. The play is so good that it would be great even without the backing track imho. Obviously Xaphoon is a very hard instrument to master because this is one of the few videos with it where I loved the sound.
Sigh. I bought one of these amazing little things a year ago. You make it sound beautiful! When I try, I make it sound like I am killing a goose. A very angry goose.... I have to try again... Thanks for sharing your talent! Subbed! I recently covered this song on Ukulele and sang, but the Xaphoon takes it next level!
@@Roger-lj2or yes because your muscles get strenger. And you have to find out whitch reed is working. Richtig now i have a 2.5 inch compound of reed and plastic. Quiet good for beginners. Try out and Keeper on IT will get better
How long did it take you to get such a smooth sound from a Xaphoon?! I just got one, and sound awful. So, I'll keep watching good musicians fo stay inspired

Just bought the xaphoon two weeks ago ... and found your channell. I love your xaph tunes, I subscribed on this one tune alone. I'm still struggling with the reed part of this instrument. I can make it sound Saxy some of the time, but the rest sounds like a duck !!!! Do you have the tab for this tune. If I had the notes I would have one thing less to concentrate on while learning. I have been playing guitar for the last 35 years and this instrument is a challange, and you Sir, make this look WAAAY too easy.

I also play Guitar for 25 years and Xaphoon was a new instrument (Never played reed inst.) i play two years but Its still dificult to keep notes in correct pitch :) just practice every day. Amazing performance. I just ordered one of these and a part of me is excited with how good they sound, and the other is just afraid that i'm not gonna be able to achieve the sound you and other players here in youtube are getting out of it. Any tips? Did you change anything to it or is it stock?

@@nemonix12 Hi Peter, you're asking about how I'm making my instruments? Well, first you should learn the basics of working with bamboo and creating the proper finish for your instrument. You can start with a simple recorder or a shakuhachi. When you have a good experience with these instruments, you can move on to bamboo saxes, if you want to shape the mouthpiece yourself, then it will need a lot of experimentation again, but at the same time it is also a lot of fun, so go ahead a try it! :) If you're asking about the discount (I'm not sure), just mention this post at your purchase on my website and you'll get a 20% discount. It sound almost like on the video. I add just a reverb to signal chain so mic>reverb>audio mixer Where on second input is backing track.

Are you post editing it? Adding reverb or something else? Is this how the xaphoon sounds naturally?
I use only reverb from nux but Its in signal chain mic->reverb-> soundcard interface. So No post editing

On this record probably 3.0 PlastiCover. But it may be a sanded lil bit. Watch some vids how you can prepare reeds to be more comfortable for You

To be honest Xaphoon is about 2 octaves but I never get over higher A. I play plastic Maui Pocket Sax.
