Trying To Fix Problems On The Yamaha AG100

In this video, I have a look at the Yamaha AG100 for a problem with it not running.

Welcome to my channel. I am a Diesel Mechanic and part time farmer working on the family farm situated in Southern Victoria, Australia.
On my channel expect to find a variety of farming and mechanical videos.
Our family has been farming in the area for over 140 years (4 generations).
On the current family farm of 600 acres (242 hectares), expect to see farming as it would have been done during the 1970/80's with farming equipment like the Massey Ferguson 3505 and Massey Ferguson 135 tractors, John Deere 955 (Combine Harvester) as well as sowing and tillage implements of the same era.
Our family also runs stock such as Dohne sheep, Angus cattle and some dairy cows.
My mechanical videos can vary from How-To's, working on my 79 Series Toyota Landcruiser and repairing farm machinery.

I have a few old 2 stroke bikes. Normally a fouled plug is from a ritch condition in the carby. I would suggest watching mikuni oz on UA-cam about tuning the vm round slide carby. I would raise the clip on the needle and set the idle as per there video. Too much oil will lean out the air fuel ratio not make it run ritch. The wet build up in the exhaust and on the plug will be unburnt fuel.

I would check the reed valve (between carbie manifold and cylinder); if it is worn out it can cause starting problems and the engine dying. You may want to check the manual and there are heaps of vids on UA-cam about it.

The ag100 oil feed goes directly into the manifold just after the slide, they don't actually mix in the carb

My is over smoke through the exhaust pipe special in the morning

Had same problem with mine & I think its clutch related, causing it to bog down

I had a Yamaha 125 that did that , mine had a baffle in the muffler that had a lot of carbon in it, I took a long screwdriver and broke it out of there , when you pull the spark arrester out , you can look in the pipe and see if you have one in there, it helps muffle the sound, but it not loud enough to make it annoying

We actually ended up taking it out as it was blocked up and we are running it without one now which seemed to help.

@@CamshaftFM we didn’t have the AG in the United States, but a YAMAHA , is Yamaha , no matter what part of the world you live in , I had a GT 80 in the 70s and a DT 125 in the early 80s

@@johnanderson2451 I almost bought a DT 125 way back when. They looked like a really nice bike. I had a RM 125 and then sold it and bought a TL 125. One extreme to the other really. Probably should have bought the DT!

@@Angie-jj9gc I also had a YZ 250 it was the first year they water cooled them, I sold that and bought a new YZ 490 in 1989 , I still have it , I rode it about 4-5 times and parked it, and got married. That bike is a beast, I cleaned it up real nice , and put it in my bedroom, it still has original everything.

@@johnanderson2451 Wow! That would certainly be a bike worth having! I used to ride a beat up old Yammi XT500 and it was fun too, in a scary sort of way! I had a Kawasaki 250 road bike too, can't think of the model but I parked it as well when I had my first child. Then I sold it. Would love to have another road bike (an old classic one) but there are so many idiot drivers I don't know if I' be brave enough to take it out on the road!
