This is what the ideal suburb would look like. Would keep the good stuff like the tranquility, greenery, and detached housing with outdoor recreation areas but would be a pedestrian environment and denser since there wouldn't be so much space wasted on wide roads. Not only more sustainable, but also more pleasant.

I'm shocked by this blatant and audacious display of spontaneity.

Hi Johnny. I don't think the hotel rooms you got here are worth $200 per night. I would have a problem with that price for what you get and especially so with the hot tub situation and a glitch trying to work with the smart TV, no USB plugs, etc. But I realize you want a very central location where everything is easily within walking distance, so in that sense I guess I could see deciding to stay again at this hotel. It sounds like the location meets your priority needs. I'd try and get a cheaper room next time and if you choose this hotel again when booking mention ahead of time the issues you had on this trip to ensure everything will be working in the room. The dated feel is unfortunate. I think for $200 per night a room is possible in one of the more luxurious hotels although it would probably be quite small. I would hope for a luxurious hot tub that is working for $200 per night, at the very least, so relaxing, which is what I want on any holiday, and perhaps a lovely comfortable bed, but maybe I am pulled now more to the luxurious as I get older. The jacuzzi outside wouldn't be great for me. I used to choose more economical hotels but I think after 20-plus years of intensely hard work and a lot of sacrifice to do it, now I am at the point where I like the luxury on some holidays and travel, beautiful amenities, quality restaurants and bars, gyms, pools, etc. I do usually prefer to also be very central but our hotel wasn't too far from you. We were pretty close. I am so sorry the initial service was so poor when there was the initial glitch with your first room. I'd be disappointed with the room given what you paid. What I want in a hotel depends on where I am traveling. You have done great videos from Thailand. I hope you are feeling better! I'm conflicted about the room! Cheers! 🙂

The room was certainly tired and dated... and the tub being semi-outdoors didn't really make any sense.
That said, the property outside of the room was great. I didn't see any other hotels that had a better beachfront (even the much higher end ones that are a bit of a hike) and the location was easily the best in the area of the non-budget hotels. However... you're right, it's not at all worth the price and on second thought I'd probably try somewhere else if I went back to Chaweng rather than just go for a cheaper room at this place.

@@JohnnyStrides Yup I agree that the area you were in has fabulous beachfront Johnny! It's the best beachfront going and I do like all the nearby places that are conveniently located. It's just such a shame to have had the kind of issues that happened and at quite a nightly cost! It sure sounds like you have a terrific hotel to try again in Bangkok and they have extended a "Welcome back" to you in the future which is so awesome! I liked the time I spent in Ko Samui. I think it's lovely to visit so maybe you can explore some other areas with hotels and find one that isn't too far from bars and restaurants and perhaps has a lot more on site as well that you would enjoy. You deserve a good jacuzzi for sure!! 🙂

LOL. Thai construction “Here we have a door that leads to nowhere” vacationing to Thailand for over 20 years. I see construction mistakes in every hotel. Hallways with a 1” step up. Other floors don’t have that 1” mistake. 6” step down into a hotel room , while other rooms don’t have step downs. Pay attention and you will see all kinds of construction mistakes.

Ive just stayed here for 10 nights. Service was disappointing there. Staff were nice but just didn't follow through with things that were meant to be provided. Room not up to scratch - it smelt of sewage and they did NOT care - we had to have the toilet unclogged each day multiple times. We weren't offered a room changed. We asked for a candle and it wasn't delivered. The people staying in the next room had a mysterious yellow liquid pouring out of their light fixture one day. Tiling around the pool around was mega slippery. Pool Bar wasn't always staffed. Some days at the Pool Bar juices were made fresh - other days they were just out of a box. The Buffet breakfast was the worst buffet breakfast I have ever had - I tried different eggs (omelettes and poached) and they were foul - other items were ordinary (pancakes were flourery, juices weren't fresh and lacked variety, bacon wasn't crispy etc). Guests would smoke around the pool and in the pool - it was disgusting - and they weren't asked to stop. Guests would 'save' a pool lounge and not then use it for hours at a time. Once though when my towel, book and water was on a lounge and I was in the pool my stuff was moved. Inflatables weren't meant to be used in the pool (written on sign) and they were being used.
