I saw Sister Rosetta in Liverpool, UK in 1964, and I had a nice chat with her and got her autograph. It was shortly after that Liverpool gig that she recorded the show, just down the road, at a disused railway station in Manchester, UK
I love her performances and have wanted to see her personality in an interview but cant find any. She has alot of charisma. I would of loved to meet her.
@Herby Ragan.....It actually takes MORE faith to be an atheist......Let's assume life on Earth evolved from the most basic single cell organism that you can possibly imagine.....Even that basic organism had to be fully functional at the moment it first came into being.....Otherwise it would've ceased to exist shortly after.......At a very minimum the organism had to have a fully formed and functioning barrier ( like a cell wall or skin ) to separate the inside of the organism... from the rest of the outside world..... It also had to be able to divide itself into another fully functioning copy of itself or reproduce offspring right away....or it would 've been the first...and last of it's kind.......It also had to be able to convert energy ( like sunlight ) into some kind of usable food source....since EVERY living organism on earth requires some type of power source to move, grow, reproduce, etc......Think about it....even the most basic organism you can possibly imagine had to have at least a few fully functioning systems in order to exist and reproduce itself on day one....... Just consider the POSSIBILITY that this basic organism could've been created by a supreme being (that we can't fully comprehend)...and then go from there...........And yes....I will still pray for you.....Ha ha ha.
One word... Legend. I learned of her 2-3 years ago when I saw a Public Television biography of her. I was blown away. I thought, "Is this woman in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?" Finally got her due in the class of 2019.
You should hear her do "Didn't It Rain." She plays the guitar remarkably well. Chuck Berry had to take note. Tom Jones does a wonderful of the latter song.
Sister Rosetta Tharpe did a great performance of "Didn't It Rain" in the UK in 1964, on the Granada Television Network. She arrived at a small, old-style train station, after a heavy rain storm, with a large crowd of teens and young adults in attendance. The train station served as a stage for the band members that performed for this TV special. The video footage is available for viewing here on UA-cam.
Larry Ressler That’s right it was Thursday, May 7 1964 at a disused Railway Station in Chorlton just outside Manchester. Was and always will be a truly amazing and inspiring woman.

I love love love love her!!! 😍🙌🏻. Thank you for reacting to her music! This is the style of music along with 70s rock & roll that I remember listening to as a wee babe. Music was my only connection to my Daddy for yrs. it was the only way I knew how to communicate with him. It was our glue, our redemption, our mediator, and our comforter for years while we nurtured our broken relationship. This song just reminds me of those early years. So many of the songs you react to remind me of memories of my life. Ha, I'm an older soul than my years even at 49. Thank you for what you do.

Tim Carr I’ve been listening to her music since I was 10 years old and I am 61 now. I’m from a musical family, bluegrass and gospel music and she has always been one of my favorites ❤️

I came across her a few years ago when I was watching the amazing videos of the blues tours of Europe in the early 1960s. What a guitarist and what a voice.
An amazing and talented lady. This concert was in 1964 at a disused Railway Station in Whalley Range Manchester, England. A coach travelled from London on that day and on it was Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards and Brian Jones. They came all that way just to watch the concert.
