@@MoAli-wm4of Lagos is not Nigeria. There are many states (36 plus FCT) in Nigeria, many are quite different to Lagos. Many places are actually quite calm in Nigeria, but the country gets incorrectly and unfairly characterised with the mayhem and over crowdedness of Lagos. That's not true.
i cant believe you visited my hometown! when people say they are exploring nigeria they mostly just mean lagos. It's nice to see ibadan for once. Al so i think you passed my neighborhood on the train.
It's really impressive how well you connect with the people just in passing even. You are so respectful and calm I think it makes even strangers trust you and be very open with you.
The last episode was a rude awakening, it burned down my ego, greed, and selfishness to the ground. It made me realize how fortunate I'm just to be on this side of the world. At the same time, another human being is struggling to get through the day and living under the worst possible conditions, just because he is on the other side of the world. Husband is a Railway employee, herself a Nurse and a Tailor by profession, and lives in a moderate house provided by the govt. which is a comfortable life compared to others. If that lady says "Life is hard" just imagine what others would say?
That’s only o e side of the story. Think of the family values, communities that barely have homeless people because people will open doors to you, fresh food, one of the best tasting foods in the world, amazing work social life balance (yes Nigeria makes you realize you only live to pay bills in America)....no bill to pay because you own your water in Nigeria...you are your own government and basically can live off grid in the middle of the city. Probably the only place remaining where you can truest be free. Most of them don’t even pay taxes....no covid, there are benefits to living in Nigeria...that’s why I am going back after 10 years in the west

You keep the people in their dignity, despite their desperate circumstances. I really like that. - Nice editing too: from the off we hear the rapping man again in the end and the beautiful sentence: "make his pockets smile". This echo of your day trip shows much depth and meaning. Basically: "this is, what I, Nick, take with me..." The joy of life and artistic talent together with the commercial attitude. So nice. - It has been 8 years since I (another Ojibo) was in Nigeria last time. I miss it so much! Greetings from Holland
Here we go. Nigeria is a country that I've heard of since childhood.A country from my fantasy. It will become a beacon of hope and prosperity to the world. Believe and achieve.
The woman said it all, it's hard to cope, we are so poor". It's both heart breaking and heart warming to see so many smiling faces, always friendly and polite, and a tireless "what's your name," Mr Nick. Yes, we get the disservice of mainstream news. Thank you for bringing the whole truth to the world. God Bless you, Nick, and the wonderful people of Nigeria.

It's so hectic, the pace, the traffic, the people, but it is buzzing. How much slower paced we live in the UK, I bet this is amazing to experience first hand. The roads wow, it's insane, but the energy is amazing.
Another great video of Nigeria. Brings back many good memories of when I lived in Lagos and would take many weekend trips around Nigeria including Ibadan, Jos, Kano, Abuja and others. There were no trains operating back then, so great to see that the Government is investing in infrastructure to more the public around. Keep these videos coming Nick!
Nigerians are such nice people... very welcoming... and lots of fun... full of life...hardworking ready to hustle and make it no matter the situation... that's why no matter what the bad leadership (Politicians) does, Nigerians always still excel in their individual life.

I have seen every single one of your videos. You take us to parts of countries no one ever will. Your content is 100% the best! And that you are using your platform to change the world is phenomenal!
When I heard the name of Ibadan and saw the warm-hearted people and lifestyle there, I couldn't help myself but to research the history behind it and the city of Abadan in Iran that Nick had visited in the Iran series! Although I only came across the nominal similarities between the two cities, but I found many similarities between the people...! How they are both welcoming, full of life and beautiful. And how warm and colorful these two cities are! And of course super spicy food!!! I send my love to my brothers and sisters in Nigeria and I want them to know that we Iranians are very similar to them in these bad economic conditions and inefficient governments. So I believe that we are all in this together and hopefully one day we will solve these problems together. I know the situation is very difficult but escape never is the solution. In Iran we have a saying: "Others planted and we reaped, so we must plant so that others can reap." I don't know if I can explain my purpose well to you, but all I'm trying to say is that in our experience in Iran, when some people left the country for a better life, the government became more and more powerful and the people went down and down every day. If you watch the Iran series that Nick put together you will easily understand what I mean. Sorry if I talked too much and if I had grammar problems in my comment. Many thanks to Nick for his wonderful vlogs and a big hug for the hardworking people of Nigeria.
I'm a Nigerian. I'm not leaving and I'm not giving up. Remember this name " Hassan Taiwo Babalola". I'm gonna grow this continent. # The Empire Of Africa 🌍
Nick, you're ability to share these experiences with an eye like a true documentary from National Geographic is stunning, and so much appreciated. Thank you and I look forward to the next part of travel in Nigeria. See you!

It's so sad to see Nigerians struggling to the point that they have the mentality that outside Nigeria is better. Things will gradually improve and Nigeria will become the land of milk and honey someday🙏
I think that that mentality of outside your country is better, is in many countries in the world. And I think is human, we mostly see the other house is better off.
Wow I am thankful for living in the US but I have never seen kindness and such a pure soul as the woman who invited them in. I wish I was surrounded by people with such kindness and love.
I am really enjoying this series! 7,000 - 10,000 A day in Ibadan is a lot! Average salary in Nigeria is 30k a month that auntie is making 210,000 a month in Ibadan! I know a teacher in Ibadan that does not make that much. Yes there are serious issues in Nigeria but I am not too fond of those who will try and get money off folk. The auntie was hoping that guy would 'dash her small change' The auntie is doing much better than the average Nigerian. Her phone is better than mine and I live in the West.
@Oscar Answers Very true! Much better off. This vlog really highlighted how those who are not in the corporate sector can thrive money wise. Look at the lady selling cat fish. Those numbers shocked me!
@@Raetalkss The problem is the that people from the western world will perceive her as a poor person. She virtually pays no tax, her monthly rent is minimal, she will send her children through school and still end up building a decent house for herself without mortgage.

Thank you for the work you are doing showing all parts of the world. It has really opened my eyes to many different types of people with many different types of perspectives!
I think you can tell a lot about a people by how clean their living space is. Although the houses are old and patched the yards seem clean and kept with a sense of pride. I know in my American city I'm about the only one who ever picks up any trash. My town is a giant garbage heap.
What… in the fuck… are you talking about? Only the few wealthy and important people in Nigeria live like that. The rest are barely getting by day to day and living in one step above squalor. It’s like you’re closing your eyes to the reality shown in these series.

Thank you as always my friend, hope you'll enjoy!

All of their smiles are amazing. They are so sweet and loving all the time despite their hardships. This opens my eyes to so many things and puts a new perspective in me. I love their friendliness and overall how they are positive regardless of what they are going through. Amazing people and it makes me want to visit.
You'd enjoy it when you visit, i wouldn't mind being your tour guide, You're welcome
When they were shouting Oyinbo it reminded me of the first time I went through a slum area in Lagos. The people are so welcoming. I hope you truly loved embracing a new experience.

As a Ghanaian born in Nigeria watching this vlog makes me miss Nigeria so much💙🇬🇭🇳🇬

@@IndigoTraveller I guess I should start planning the trip💙😎✌️🙂
@@MoAli-wm4of Lagos is not Nigeria. There are many states (36 plus FCT) in Nigeria, many are quite different to Lagos. Many places are actually quite calm in Nigeria, but the country gets incorrectly and unfairly characterised with the mayhem and over crowdedness of Lagos. People think once they've been to Lagos they have seen Nigeria it's not the case. It's like going to NY and thinking you've seen the whole country or that everywhere in the US is like NY.

@@tosinojo7310 paying taxes with a government that actually put that money to improve people’s life is greater than just paying taxes that full politicians pockets or not paying taxes and live like this people… Who would chose ti live in that conditions? Is a nightmare

Wow, beautiful words. Thank you Frank, you are very poetic, I appreciate that. Thank you! Nick :)

Another great video of Nigeria. Brings back many good memories of when I lived in Lagos and would take many weekend trips around Nigeria including Ibadan, Jos, Kano, Abuja and others.
In Iran we have a saying: "Others planted and we reaped, so we must plant so that others can reap."
I don't know if I can explain my purpose well to you, but all I'm trying to say is that in our experience in Iran, when some people left the country for a better life, the government became more and more powerful and the people went down and down every day. If you watch the Iran series that Nick put together you will easily understand what I mean.
Sorry if I talked too much and if I had grammar problems in my comment.
