Elevenlabs has been my go-to when I don't want to spend the extra effort to do a voice over myself. It would be useful to do a side-by-side comparing the two. The only downside I see is that using them with all the tweeks to adjust them will take time that users are trying to avoid spending.
It's alright. I can pretty clearly tell it's AI still. All these companies really struggle with nailing the imperfections in the sibilance, plosives, and fry, though I have no doubt we'll get there some day. Glad I never went into voice acting cuz those folks are cooked.
I think AI voice has graduated from dial up to DSL, but has a ways to go before it is "high speed fiber". "Gelato" was a giveaway that it was AI. Also, not sure this would save much time if I'd still need to read.
I really like the new features and you do such a great job with the demo video. Love your work. However, their price point and the time they allow per tier seems pricey. I would like to see you do an actual client video so we could see their reaction. Thanks Jenn, keep up the great videos. 🙂
The best one that I've ever used is PlayHT. Extremely realistic. The key is to play around with the punctuation when typing the script so the cadence sounds authentic. It's expensive though... like $700 yearly.
Cool video - thanks for sharing 👍. Being an enthusiast for TTS / AI voices and fan of privacy aware and locally running voice technology maybe check some alternatives (on my channel) like Piper TTS, Coqui TTS, Toucan, Parler TTS and more.
Usually, I trust your reviews, but in this case, I think you only used 2 voices because they were the optimised voices. The rest are likely inferior derivatives. As the video is sponsored by the product, it seems likely that the results are fudged. Prove me wrong: make a longer video that tests more voices, Jenn

Wait a minute why would you do that? You’re already recording yourself saying it this is like double the work

Yep i was thinking the same thing, like whats the point if i still have to read everything
Many thanks Jen. Most interesting. Always interesting!

Doesn't make sense to have to do a full read then use AI voice. Defeats one the primary purposes of AI voice in the first place.
Can it read in your voice?

How much?

How is AI nonbinary?
I'd say another year or two, and it will be hard to tell if you're not paying attention.
Fantastic. Really good.
