Here's THE story: A Short guy in high school is getting picked on, bullied, and have it difficult of getting girls, just because he's Short. So, he saves money for leg surgery, so he could get taller. His height goal is to go from 5'5 to 6'5.

She's also wealthy enough with a great family that she's too privileged for her height problem to illicit sympathy.
When a movie has the protagonist overcoming an obstacle that makes their life harder, it's only interesting and meaningful if the viewer can actually buy that the protagonists struggle puts them at a significant disadvantage amongst their peers.
What's her issue? She had a little trouble dating in high school... That's not and will not ever be an engaging conflict. Countless high schoolers go without dating and that's fine. It has no stake on her future.
What does have a stake is that she seemingly has NO interests other than lamenting get height, so good luck picking a career.

The most concerning part of this was him being a transfer student from Sweden, where you don’t get your driver’s license until you’re 18, is driving, not long after he came to America. He is not licensed (let alone the fact he’s not a us citizen), insured, and we don’t know if he knows which side of the road to be on!

I don’t know where to begin. You can get a number of driver’s licences in sweden before the age of 18, the following are examples: AM (Mopeds and Tractor type A), Tractor ( it is what it sounds like, you are allowed to drive tractors classed as ”A”), as well as A1 ( light motorcycles, which are from 51cc to 125cc). As you can get these licences before the age of 18 ( AM at age 15+, A1 at 16+, The tractor licence doesn’t have an age restriction in the same way), you most likely learn all about the laws in traffic, even if you decide not to take a driver’s licence.
How could you possibly know if he’s insured or not?
We drive on the right side of the road in Sweden too, even if we (still) drove on the left side of the road, it’s not like you won’t notice how traffic works in a different country.
The last and most important thing, how old is “Stig”? He could be 18 and have his driver’s licence. It is not rare that people take a year (or multiple) away from school to work and acquire some experience.

This movie is an alternate universe where Taylor Swift would be considered unpopular. Ik the main actress wanted to be in the movie because she was discriminated against for her height when she was a dancer but they should've just made that a movie instead of making being tall in high school as a rich, white, pretty girl a real problem.
That is way more interesting because isnt dancing very competitive and your height can actually be a factor?
@@ZyroShadowPony Yes. That's literally her life story but they chose basic high school angst instead. Taller dancers often have to match the other dancer's height by bending more so they have to practice more or else they'll look really awkward and the awkward positions are harder to hold too.

This movie was terrible, it had all the elements of some cringeworthy teen movie made by 40 year old producers. Not to mention being unrealistic. There was a girl in my high school, same grade as me freshman year (14 years old) who was like 6'1. As far as I remember, nobody picked on her; people did mention her height but more of a "wow she's tall" type of thing. And unlike this self-centered protagonist, her personality didn't revolve around being tall, she acted like a regular girl and rarely mentioned her own height to boast.
